A lot of potential here
caircair30 September 2019
Most good TV shows need a few episodes before they come together. I'm really hoping this is one of them. The first episode had a lot of potential it just didn't quite reach - but I have hope that it improves quickly. In its favor - Bradley Whitford, characters that aren't stereotypes, some clearly good singers, and an overall positive message. As someone who has been in a number of choirs before, I'll be interested to see how realistic this turns out to be.

Needs some work
nancyldraper27 September 2019
(Initial Impressions) This new series needs some work. The story is rushed and uneven. It was as if they were trying to fit a whole season of plot into one episode. The talent is there, there just needs to be room for them to realize their characters. The motivation for the characters was either non-existent or muddled. I was looking forward to some good music, but all we got is a mishmash of noise. Based on the pilot, I give the episode a 4 (poor) out of 10. Based on the talent, I expect this to get better, so I'm giving the series an optimistic 6 (potential) out of 10. {SitCom with music}

If you enjoyed Glee....this is for you!
annridl27 September 2019
I watched the pilot and I actually laughed at some of it. I love love LOVE any show with music and anything that is uplifting. So if anyone is looking for that, watch it! It definitely reminds me of Sister Act, Glee and a little bit of Pitch Perfect. (Anna Camp is cool!) A music professor helps out a small town choir to win a competition. They used a "mash up" (Glee did these also) with two songs. The music wasn't so great. Would I watch it again? Probably. It might take a few more episodes to get into it. I'm surprised at how short it was...wish it was longer than 30 minutes.

A Great Comedy better than anything on TV
GARYMARKBE1 October 2019
I think the first episode is one of the best tv comedy episodes I ever saw. It has genuine wit like something by Shaw or Wilde or Twain, and genuine heart, although in the context of comedy well made (contrived) plot structure. I was astounded when I found not every one shared my reaction

Slow and steady wins the race
squirrelysquirrel_419 January 2020
Admittedly the first half of the season is more deserving of four or five stars but these last few episodes have been a lot of fun. The most recent one I would rate an 8 or 9 for the episode in a genre of cheesy good fun. The show isn't trying to be the number one thing on television. It knows that it's not a classic like Friends or Cheers. It is just a show about goofy, Kitschy fun and the dynamics of a small-town community. It can be really wholesome and sweet while also sophomoric and funny. Rarely do I find it inappropriate. I hope you will consider keeping it on.

Can I get a Hallelujah?
Ed-Shullivan27 September 2019
This new sitcom has so much potential just like the cast of the unknown church choir in Perfect Harmony. Arthur (Bradley Whitford) is an Ivy League music professor who has fallen off the wagon and lives on a houseboat. Rather than drink a quart of scotch and pop a bottle of pills, give up on life and pull his own proverbial plug, Arthur asks and looks for a sign to go on with life while illegally parked in front of the Second First Church of the Cumberlands and then he hears the church choir practicing that appears to need being saved, more than Arthur does so he takes it upon himself to give this cast of characters a choir leader.

All of the choir have weaknesses and strengths just like you and me, and Arthur appears to have a knack with his abruptness and candor for bringing out the best in his new found choir both in their personal lives, and with their singing ability.

So although everyone has their periodic lows in their own lives, as a group this choir/cast is a hit. I look forward to seeing much more of this Rocky themed choir belt out a few more songs that we can all relate to. Don't expect a recreation of the former Glee TV series because this sitcom is new, fresh and packs a powerful punch that stands above the rest. Can I get a Hallelujah?

I'm not sure where this show is heading after 4 episodes
Okonh0wp18 October 2019
"Perfect Harmony" is an odd couple pairing between an uptight Princeton music professor (Brad Whitford) and the populace of a small Kentucky town. The (extremely laborious) premise for the set-up is that the professor has just been fired and is on his way to bury his dead wife and subsequently commit suicide when he hears a church choir singing awful music and decides on instinct to give them some quick pointers before pulling the trigger. He then decides to stay alive a few days longer through a choir competition against his new mortal enemy and things roll from there.

More than anything else, "Perfect Harmony" is a red-state/blue-state clash of values and the sentimental highs it hopes to produce are from people overcoming their differences and meeting in the middle. The show portrays the small-town characters as eccentric, the viewer loyalty generally leans towards the red state mannerisms of the locals as they are portrayed as far more emotionally open and genuine.

Brad Whitford is far too grumpy to be interesting though Anna Camp is somewhat of an original with her perkiness, Spring beauty, and an internal battle between restrained Southern charm and frustration-driven id. Sadly, the show puts too much emphasis on Whitford who doesn't have much going for him. So far, the show pedals in broad characters.

Great cast and tons of laughs!
shannonlynnstilwell8 November 2019
When I saw the trailer for this show, I wasn't sure, but desperate to find a decent comedy to watch, I gave it a chance! I am so glad I did! It's amazing and hilarious and refreshing and the camaraderie amongst the cast (that at first glance doesn't look like they'd mesh) is what really drew me in. I grew up in a small town church so I can relate to a little of it. Newcomer Spencer Allport and new to me Bradley Whitford and Anna Camp are breaths of fresh air with great comedic timing. Please give it a watch. We need more laughter in this world! I only watched This Is Us and Young Sheldon prior but so glad to have some more laughter.

It's okay
grasswhisperer8 October 2019
I, generally, don't like sitcoms but this one is okay. I like the actors who play the main characters so that helps. Watch it and see what you think.

Humor based on stereotypes, no lasting value
captiosus7720 October 2019
The stereotype humor of Perfect Harmony -- rich elitist Yankee professor looking down on "uneducated" southern Appalachian blue collar workers -- was funny for about two episodes. Then it turned grating as it became apparent that's the only humor the writers have to offer AND it's the foundation for every other element of the show.

I gave the show two more episodes but I'm checking out. It's a one trick pony that has nothing of lasting value to offer. It's snobbish Hollywood writers continuing to denigrate rural/southern people through outlandish stereotypes to get a few laughs. Here's hoping this show doesn't get picked up for another season.

I'm going to love this
cscott233127 September 2019
It's fun, it has some great characters already. I just know once they develop them more it's just going to get better! I just love Bradley Whitford. It's a lighthearted comedy. Made me laugh with some spot on one liners! Usually it take 3-4 episodes of any show to really pull me in. This one did it immediately. I think it's going to be fun! I don't know about y'all but I can use some lighthearted comedy in my world.

WHY
jojo81-114 December 2019
Why do so many shows get the Southern & Midwest absolutely wrong. I lived in Kentucky my whole life. This show seems to be the worst one about stereotypes of small town people. The only thing I can say about it is that it's okay if you want something on in the background while you're doing something else LOL

I really wanted to like it but no.
a_prill31 January 2020
I really wanted to like this show because of Brad Whitford, but it's pretty bad. The only reason I'm even giving it a 6 few because all the characters and actors are adorable, but they can't make up for the writing ;.(

small town Pitch Perfect
SnoopyStyle16 June 2020
Arthur Cochran (Bradley Whitford) was forced to resign from Princeton due to complaints from students. He is a drunk from the lost of his wife. His life is a mess until he stumbles into the local church. They need the music professor to produce their choral group in competitions. The overwhelming favorite is the rival megachurch which happens to have refused to bury Arthur's beloved late wife. He decides to lead the choir for revenge.

This is trying to be small town Pitch Perfect. There are issues with the menagerie of characters. I don't believe that they are small town folks. Whitford is fine as the big city elite and Camp has her southern drawl. The rest of them all have some weirdness that doesn't quite fit. The premise is silly network fare. Despite all of that, this is elevated by a group of likeable actors and their chemistry helps salvage this with a bit of fun.

LOL
willsonr-16 October 2019
I'm not sure if the critical reviewers actually watched the same Program I did. This program is outright funny. The music is outstanding and the characters as presented are real. One might actually grow to love them all, even with their all too human flaws.

Unrealistic Weak "Comedy"
kylegiermann18 October 2019
This show has been weak from the start. The characters are stereotypical extremes (redneck, Baptist hillbillies and a conceited college professor with nothing better to do). Stereotypes can be used for comedic effect when used properly, but this is done to the extreme and just makes the show boring. At no point do I see anything in the show as being truly realistic. With many other TV sitcoms/shows I can imaging myself, someone I know, or at least someone made up being a member of the community within the show. I can't do that with Perfect Harmony. I'm a music and church person and this show doesn't relate to anything in my life.

Really liked it! Funny and music was pretty good!
volkyman27 September 2019
Show is only 30 minutes, actually less if you remove the commercials. So the the plot moved pretty fast but you still got a good idea of what's happening in each character's life. It's nice a show that doesn't have a Lawyer, Doctor, Police theme running through it! Something different!

Horrible
csederlund27 September 2019
Hey, I love sitcoms. I've been watching them for 40 years and this is one of the worst sitcoms I have ever watched. Just plain dumb. I like Bradley Whitford but this is bad. For those of you who think I don't like it because of the theme, BW is one of the leftest hollywood pc dudes out there.

Laugh Out Loud Humor
pandora198827 September 2019
When something makes me actually laugh out loud while I'm alone, I consider it to be very funny...or a sign I'm closer to losing my mind. In this case, I believe it's a great comedy. It's Pitch Perfect meets Sister Act meets Grumpy Old Man. The puns and sweet ignorance of the cast kept me in stitches. I hope the momentum continues!

Politically Incorrect and Great
dubsbarry27 September 2019
Great first episode! Hopefully it doesn't bow down to Hollywood and fall for the politically correct BS. The characters speak their mind without worry of repercussions and that makes it fresh. Keep it up.

Why??
jenni092316 October 2019
Glee has been done, Pitch Perfect too... I love a couple of actors in this, but couldn't wait for the 3 eps I watched to be finished. I watched three because I wanted to see if it gelled as it progressed, it did not. When great shows like The Kids are Alright, or Life in Pieces get cancelled (among others) give way to this... Why???? I predict this show will be a long lasting sitcom, after all, if the POS show, The Good Life can last, then so will this...
