Will give it a second look.
mnjonman25 January 2020
The writing in this show is aweful. I can do without the canned laughter, which is not timed properly and the director needs to slow the lines down a bit. Everyone seems to be rushing their speech. However, the kids are great, especially Oakley Bull. Love that kid. I will give it a second look, if for no other reason than the show runners are not cramming their political agenda down my throat, which is refreshing.

Harmless Fun
ChRiS-80331 January 2020
It's a cute, harmless show. The second episode shows promise and the cast are good. You don't need Tichina for token casting though.

Unsure why all the haters are complaining (yet again) about the laugh track... why do these fools watch a sitcom if the laugh track is going to drive them into bitterness? Isn't that what most sitcoms have?

Enjoyed it

I really like the parents. The kids are funny. I like the storyline of smart kids and blue collar parents. This is going to be a good family sitcom. I need more.

Grows on you

Wasn't too impressed by the premiere, but as it progressed I took a liking to it. It's a lot better written than its given credit for, and the comedy lands pretty fine most of the time. Not a bad follow up to Last Man Standing.

forgotten classic family comedy

A good example of the classic family comedy. We are very longing for such TV series these days.

Biggs and Lawson are basically just reading their scripts verbatim and sometime the canned laughter kicks in before they even finish their crummy lines.
Ed-Shullivan24 January 2020
What a bunch of crap. I can't stand that non-stop canned laughter which immediately tells you the show is going to be another FOX comedy failure. Although Jason Biggs and Maggie Lawson are old enough in real life to have four (4) children of their own they certainly don't act as if these four (4) kids are their own special little wonders (?)

The pilot episode certainly provides a full display of a cast that is not prepared to put in the work effort to pull off an actual real comedy show where the lines are delivered as if they were meaningful.

Funny hah hah? No! Just no! More like funny nah-nah!!!

Worth the chance
adevilsdare3 March 2020
The show has potential once they get past some humps. Yeah the canned laughter sucks but the show is actually decent in parts. Once they get into their groove more I see this show getting better and you can see it as more episodes air.

Boring
malachite-7843224 January 2020
I wanted to laugh, because I like Maggie Lawson and Jason Biggs, but nothing about this was even remotely funny.

why so much hatred?
elenaphysics28 February 2020
I have to admit I did not like the first 2 episodes. I found them quite pretentious and the jokes were kind of forced. But I continued watching and it gets much better. It is a nice funny story. The episodes are around 20 minutes each so they never become tiring and boring. Having genius kids is always a struggle because you know you can't provide them enough. I have been there as a child (and my parents did not know how to handle my intelligence, but they tried to support me because intelligence sometimes comes with sentimental unstability and social awkwardness) and now I am facing the challenge with my daughter whose intelligence is off the charts and it scares me that I will not be able to help her reach her full potential (because private schools in my little country are really expensive). So in a way I feel for the kids and I feel for the parents. But even if the topic was not that appealing to me, it is a nice show to watch and relax. It is not to be taken too seriously. I would normally rate it a 6 but after seeing so many bad reviews and so much unreasonable hate , I decided to rate it higher. When you rate something with 1 star, it means that it is really awful/horrible/disgusting/hideous. Is this the case here? NO!!! This is fun series to watch. I do not understand this hatred..

It has potential
fableslave6 February 2020
I enjoyed the two episodes that are out. I wouldn't say it's must see TV but I still found it entertaining. The premise of average parents trying to handle genius children is pretty original and I love Jason Biggs and Maggie Lawson as the parents. I think if given the chance it could become a good show. Definitely will continue to watch to see what happens.

Fails in Every Way
vintagegeek24 January 2020
It sounded like a barrel of screeching monkeys. Writing was abysmal. Casting of the children, other the teenage daughter, must have been family friends. There was no setup of the characters, or their world. Every aspect of the writing was negative, and bringing in the nerdy 35 year old friend was just sad. They gave each child one or two fancy scientific phrases to say. Each line the kids delivered sounded like they were getting paid for every second they saved. How anyone could pay to produce this is beyond imagination. I doubt if a 2nd episode will even air.

Decent watch. A feel good show without political biases and unnecessary drama.
mihirpattani30 March 2020
I generally like light themed comedy shows with a feel good factor.

Pros: 1. Decently funny. They aren't trying to overdo it. 2. Biggs and lawson seem relatable and its fun watching them together. 3. The acting is good across the cast.

Cons: The writing on the show can definitely improve and they often tread unoriginal story lines.

Not funny but the laugh track sure thinks so.
A_New_Hope24 January 2020
When will studios learn, multicam sitcoms are dead. The laugh track is obnoxious and detracts from anything on screen. Maggie needs to fire her agent. Everything she is in now is trash and i just dont like Jason Biggs.

No actual humour, its played out and one of the main "stars" is unlikable! There is so many better shows to watch.

Not too bad
mcjesse-502381 February 2020
I've seen worse and I've seen better. It is a good watch if you have nothing else to watch. Maggie Lawson and Jason Biggs are pretty good. Like everyone else, the laugh track is terrible. Basically a Nickelodeon children TV show laugh track.

Really disappointed
jester2055-113-95458625 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
How can this suck sooooo much? Lawson and Biggs at their absolute worst. Parents in the basement getting baked while their genius children are upstairs doing things like, taking a test behind their back, yeah sure.

The laugh track is the moldy cherry on this garbage pile. Do yourself a favor and watch paint dry for a half an hour instead of witnessing this train wreck.

Pity star awarded for potential, this is a complete mess and should not even air a second episode.

I really like the series!
eastpetrichor-1096513 March 2020
It's fun to me. Since when everything must be sophisticated and deep to be fun. I like the series because of its casual and down-to-earth jokes. Anyone could judge my taste however they feel like it but I really hope this series stay around since the world needs more delighted production like this.

This show would need to get a lot better just to be really bad.
jmar-5066825 January 2020
I'm not sure which was worse, the writing or Bigg's acting, either way they both sucked. Thirty minutes I'll never get back.

From Terrible to Commendable
23stitches13 March 2020
The first episode was bad. Really bad! But I gave the second episode a try. So okay, I had a few giggles. I gave each subsequent episodes a chance, and I'm glad I did because it got better and better. Currently, I am on the eight episode. I love the show. It's no Friends or the Golden Girls, but I have grown to care about the characters. I hope there's a second season.

Cute and fun
annaeoberneder1 March 2020
I've always loved Maggie Lawson and Jason Biggs so when I found this show, I was intrigued. It's a cute (and heartfelt) comedy showing the struggles of parenthood, even if your children are geniuses and things can get a little out of control. I've excited to see where this continues to grow!

Dreadful
Chazzbat1 February 2020
This "comedy" is dire. What a waste of a stellar cast. The writing is lazy and irritating, and all of the characters are unlikeable. Don't waste your time on this.

It was a good show for the whole family. To bad we will not see more character development in additional seasons.

The typical problem with American sitcoms
MarcusCyron15 March 2021
The entire basic premise of the series is no longer up to date. Why are intelligent children in sitcoms always unsportsmanlike and socially incompetent, whereas the stupid people are always socially competent? Why is athleticism more important than knowledge to this day? How can you create a family series that hates children in such a way? Whether the intelligent, or the "stupid". For decades, US sitcoms have been preparing the same conservative clichés over and over again. It's just boring. especially since the few good and innovative shows are successful precisely because they break through these narrow boundaries. But if in the end you just want to beat all the characters in a series because they are all unappealing, stupid and annoying in their own way, something has gone wrong. "The Big Bang Theory" is so successful because, despite all the exaggerations, there is a love for the characters. This is a sitcom straight out of an unseasoned instant soup.

It sucks with the force of 1000 suns!
maxlrosenberg27 January 2020
Its just horribly bad, poorly written, and stilted. Its a true throwback to a really bad 80s sitcom. Including the atrocious laugh track. Its remarkably offensive that anyone in this day and age would presume that their audience is this ignorant and tasteless to be willing to watch this trash.

Poor copy of Outnumbered
nerdo14 February 2022
Poor copy of the UK show Outnumbered which is partially improvised and has it's moments of genius, especially the first season, unlike this. Then again Jason Biggs isn't Hugh Dennis.
