From the bestselling author of Final Girls and Survive the Night, Riley Sager’s new novel The House Across the Lake was just released last year, and a movie is soon on the way.
Deadline reports today that Paul Feig (Ghostbusters) is potentially directing The House Across the Lake for Netflix, with Feig said to currently be eyeing the director’s chair.
Berlanti Productions and Feigco will be producing the film, with Sarah Schechter, Greg Berlanti and Mike McGrath producing for Berlnti, and Feig and Laura Fischer for Feigco.
In Riley Sager’s novel, “Casey Fletcher, a recently widowed actress trying to escape a streak of bad press, has retreated to the peace and quiet of her family’s lake house in Vermont. Armed with a pair of binoculars and several bottles of bourbon, she passes the time watching Tom and Katherine Royce, the glamorous couple living in the house across the lake.

Outer Banks is a Netflix series created by Shannon Burke, Jonas Pate and Josh Pate starring Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline and Jonathan Daviss.
This series about rich and poor is back, this has been a great success for Netflix and now the story is renewed after two seasons full of adventures, romances… and lots of beautiful people too.
If you haven´t seen it yet… you are in for a great time, not much room for reflection, this is an adventure about young people specially created for them. Full of adventures, mysteries and tensions in characters that fight to change if not the world, their small islands of inequities they have been born in.
A very Goonies style entertaiment, sure, but this is really fun and addictive.
To be enjoyed!

The first part of “Stranger Things 4” drops today and with it comes a mega-sized mid-season finale: Episode 7 clocks in at 1 hour, 38 minutes long. But wait, there’s more — much more. The two-episode second part of the season premieres July 1 with a penultimate episode that runs another 1 hour, 38 minutes and a finale that is nearly two-and-a-half hours long.
The “Stranger Things” S4 finale will likely become the longest episode of American television in history. In industry parlance, these “supersized” episodes have become more commonplace, but they stretch back to the 1983 series finale of “M*A*S*H.” It was 2 1/2 hours long, although that was considered to be a TV movie — and one that contained a number of very expensive commercials. “The Long Night” episode from Season 8 of “Game of Thrones” ran 82 minutes and the 2016 “Gilmore Girls” revival offered four installments of 90 minutes each.

Warning: contains spoilers for the Game of Thrones season eight.
We all know the story by now. There are a handful of shows that were once extremely popular, but took a sharp turn for the worse towards the end. True Blood, Lost, How I Met Your Mother, Dexter … all left viewers with a distinct feeling of “huh. Was that it?” following their finales.
For the most part, fans of the above will probably be happy to rewatch some of the earlier seasons, but stop before the end. One show, however, has a final season so poorly received, it retrospectively tainted what came before and left some fans reluctant to ever rewatch: Game of Thrones.
A Disappointing Answer

For the first official week of horror and sci-fi home media releases in the month of April, we don’t have a ton of titles coming out, but the ones that are being released on April 5th are a pretty damn good bunch of movies all the same. Probably the biggest movie arriving on multiple formats this Tuesday is Scream (2022) from the Radio Silence crew, so if you missed it in theaters, now is the perfect opportunity to be able to catch up with everything that happened in Woodsboro.
Other Blu-ray and DVD releases for April 5th include a 4K edition of I Spit on Your Grave (1978), The Long Night, Vicious Fun, The Ice Demon, a 2-Movie Scream collection, and 60 Seconds to Live!

So many people have been wondering why Bruce Willis continues to show up in movies that are, shall we say, less entertaining than the stuff he used to do, and so far there isn’t a solid answer that a lot of people are willing to accept. There are a lot of different explanations being given by fans, but Survive the Night isn’t exactly the worst, even if it’s not among the best. The movie itself is simple and to the point, which makes it feel as though it could have been a lot shorter and part of an anthology movie

Game of Thrones is readying a return to Westeros in 2022 with House of the Dragon. Set around 200 years in the past, during the height of the Targaryens’ incestuous, dragon-riding royal reign, the series is the first of HBO’s ongoing prequel pursuits. However, it also represents an enormously expensive mulligan, since it arrives in the aftermath of an extravagant pilot produced for a completely different prequel project, which was not picked up and still languishes unseen by audiences. Interestingly, new details have surfaced regarding the nixed project’s price tag and how it directly led to the prequel series that will ultimately arrive.
While HBO’s initial Game of Thrones prequel attempt never bore an official title, reports revealed it to be a story of ancient proportions, set thousands of years earlier, which—based on the elaborate history in creator George R.R. Martin’s literary lore—earned it de facto...

A teaser trailer for “House of the Dragon” has debuted, bringing with it the first footage from HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel series. The footage is mostly close-ups of the ensemble cast. Anyone expecting to see some action sequences featuring dragons will have to wait until the official trailer. The series is set hundreds of years before the events of “Game of Thrones.”
“House of the Dragon” is created by “Thrones” author George R. R. Martin and USA Network’s “Colony” creator Ryan Condal, who is serving as showrunner of the series with Miguel Sapochnik. “Thrones” fans might recognize the name Miguel Sapochnik, as he is one of the series’ most beloved directors, having helmed “Battle of the Bastards,” “The Long Night,” and other famous episodes. Sapochnik won an Emmy for directing “Battle of the Bastards.”

"I've been chasing their boss forever... this might go south." Lionsgate has released the official trailer for another cheap, cheesy action thriller called Survive the Game. Not to be confused with any of the other "Survive" films recently, including Survive the Night (which also has Bruce Willis funny enough). This is yet another of these films that will make you wonder "why is Bruce Willis making such trashy movies all the time over and over these days?!" There's not much to this one: a man's life on his farm is interrupted when a cop and a pair of dangerous criminals show up. Outnumbered, three heroes must use stealth, smarts, and good shooting to take down the drug-dealing mob. Starring Chad Michael Murray, Bruce Willis, Swen Temmel, Donna D'Errico, Zack Ward, Sean Kanan, and Sarah Roemer. You can easily refer to this one as the "Bruce Willis on a farm action...

As is tradition, the Golden Raspberry Awards announced its winners on the eve of the Oscars. The Razzies, now in their 41st year, are a tongue-in-cheek ceremony that “honor” the worst films of the year. Scroll down for the full list of winners (and nominees) in all nine Razzie Awards categories ranging from Worst Picture to Worst Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel.
Leading the 2021 Razzie Awards winners list is “Music,” Sia‘s ill-conceived film about the relationship between an autistic girl (Maddie Ziegler) and her newly sober half-sister (Kate Hudson). Sia won Worst Director while Ziegler, who is not autistic, and Hudson were singled out for acting dishonors.
“Music,” which was filmed in 2017, had been a surprise contender at the Golden Globes, earning bids for Best Musical/Comedy and for leading lady Hudson. Among those that Ziegler faced off against was Glenn Close for “Hillbilly Elegy,” who is also in contention at Sunday’s Oscars.

Iranian-American director Matt Eskandari is attached to helm Breakers, a political action-thriller written by Janice Eymann and David Rollins.
Breakers is based on the 2009 presidential elections in Iran and the ‘firewall’ the regime put up to try to choke dissent.
It follows two parallel stories that merge; one of students writing algorithms to pierce the firewall, and a retired CIA agent who takes a team of four ex-Special Forces into Iran to rescue their female asset who has proof the election was rigged.
Eskandari’s recent credits include three Bruce Willis-actioners: Hard Kill, Survive The Night and Trauma Center. The director immigrated to the US as a child with his family following the Iranian revolution.
Eymann, CEO of Filmworks Company, and Rollins are producing the project with Tim Maddocks of Maddfilms. The executive producer is Jomon Thomas (Hotel Mumbai).

From the harbor of Oldtown to the top of the Wall, it is known throughout Westeros that all men must die. That they must, yet the phrase may soon be amended to include, “and all geek properties must live on… forever.” It certainly appears to be the takeaway from the news that a Game of Thrones animated series for HBO Max is currently in development.
The revelation came late Wednesday afternoon via THR when it was reported that HBO Max, the streaming arm of WarnerMedia, was meeting with writers to hear ideas for a potential animated drama in the same tonal vein as Game of Thrones, the pop culture phenomenon of a TV series that ran between 2011 and 2019.

An animated “Game of Thrones” spinoff is in early development at HBO Max, according to multiple reports.
The series, which has no writers or other talent attached, would be the third known spinoff of HBO’s popular Emmy-winning series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. THR added that meetings with writers for the adult-leaning series are underway, though it’s not a given it moves forward.
HBO Max declined to comment.
The series joins the already-ordered prequel series “House of the Dragon” and an adaptation of George R.R. Hatem Ali, the Syrian filmmaker and director of hit TV shows, has died at the age of 58, according to multiple local news reports citing family confirmation.
Ali graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus in 1986 before first moving into acting and then into directing in the 1990s.
He was noted for helming works that depicted Arab history, such as his 2000 three-parter Al-Zeer Salem, as well as his projects about Muslim conqueror Salaheddin and the rise and fall of Muslim Andalusia.
His 31-episode drama The Palestinian Exodus (Al-Taghreba al-Falastenya), shot entirely in Syria, told the story of how some 700,000 Palestinians were forced to flee their homes during the creation of Israel.
On the feature side, his 2009 pic The Long Night, about three political prisoners who are released from a Syrian prison after a long time and try to adjust to freedom, debuted at the Chicago International Film Festival...

Hatem Ali, the influential Syrian multi-hyphenate whose hit historical TV dramas provided collective insight across the Arab world on the roots and complexities of the region’s turbulence, died on Tuesday at 58.
The cause of death, which took place in a Cairo hotel, was a heart attack, according to multiple Middle East news reports.
Born in 1962 in Syria’s Golan Heights, the strategic region occupied by Israel in 1967, Ali started out writing short stories and plays in which he also performed. In 1986 he graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus with an acting degree.
After starting out in showbiz as an actor, Ali segued into directing during the 1990s helming several made-for-tv feature films, including “The Long Night,” a potent drama about the lives of three dissidents released from a Syrian prison after 20 years of incarceration that in 2009 won the top prize at Italy’s Taormina Film Festival.

Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy have joined the cast of “Game of Thrones” spinoff “House of the Dragon,” HBO said Friday. They join previously announced star Paddy Considine, who will play King Viserys Targaryen.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the prequel series, which is set 300 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” tells the story of House Targaryen.
Cooke will play Alicent Hightower, “the daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, and the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms. She was raised in the Red Keep, close to the king and his innermost circle; she possesses both a courtly grace and a keen political acumen.”
D’Arcy has been cast as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, “the king’s first-born child, she is of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a dragonrider. Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything… but she was not born a man.

Though “Game of Thrones” ended after eight seasons in 2019, George R.R. Martin’s sprawling world continues to take on new forms on television. HBO has shared first-look concept art from “House of the Dragon,” the upcoming spinoff series from co-creators Martin and Ryan Condal. This first peek at the new show arrives on the heels of HBO parent company Warner Bros.’ big announcement that all of its 2021 movies will stream on HBO Max alongside theatrical runs wherever possible.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s 2018 book “Fire & Blood,” “House of the Dragon” will tell the story of the House of Targaryen and take place 300 years before the events of the original “Game of Thrones” series.
“Principal photography starts on the next ‘Game of Thrones’ series, ‘House of the Dragon,’ in a few months,” WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar shared with fans on Thursday in a Medium blog post. “Look out for dragons overhead!

It’s been a year and a half since Game Of Thrones aired its final episode ‘The Iron Throne’ (although it feels a lot longer thanks to 2020 time dilation), and now a ‘Complete Collection’ box-set has arrived.
It’s slightly odd to behold these 33 discs, squeezed into eight Blu-ray cases, snuggled up in a lovely box, with a little booklet nestled in. So much time has passed since the world watched that finale and the online discourse erupted with the fiery ferocity of Cersei’s attack on the Sept Of Baelor.
With so much vocal negativity surrounding season eight, it feels as if Game Of Thrones has ended up in the big pop-culture bin of shows that nobody talks about anymore (unless they’re taking the mick). But this box-set is a chance to revisit and reappraise, and see if that sentence is really fair…

The “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of the Dragon” at HBO has found its first cast member — English actor Paddy Considine.
Variety has learned that Considine has signed on to star in the series in the role of King Viserys I, who chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. A warm, kind, and decent man, Viserys only wishes to carry forward his grandfather’s legacy. But good men do not necessarily make for great kings.
Fans of the lore created by George R.R. Martin will recall that Viserys I ruled over Westeros around 100 years after Aegon’s Conquest. His children, Rhaenyra and Aegon II, would ultimately fight a civil war over his throne that became known as the Dance of Dragons.

While 2019’s controversial conclusion of Game of Thrones played out the presumed end of Westeros’s royal Targaryen bloodline in the television adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire literary mythology, HBO subsequently put into motion plans to jump back to the family’s peak era with prequel series House of the Dragon, with a 2022 window eyed. Yet, while the royal house’s motto of “Fire and Blood” might accurately describe how 2020 has been playing out, it appears that the prequel series was not set back by the pandemic.

A new action thriller starring Bruce Willis is now available to watch on demand, but you may not want to. Hard Kill is currently sitting at the infamous 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but for those of you feeling intrepid enough to check it out, this is what to expect:
Mercenaries find themselves racing the clock to stop a world-changing computer program from being triggered.
In Hard Kill’s defence, there is a caveat to lend to its 0% rating. Only 12 Tomato-certified critics have reviewed it so far, a much smaller sample size than you’d see for mainstream releases. I can also offer the fact that it clocks in at just under 100 minutes, meaning that you won’t be subjected for very long. However, awful films have a habit of making even the smallest units of time stretch into infinity, so even that may not be a positive.

The Emmy Awards ballot for Best Drama Directing lists 295 episodes (from 156 series), so there will eight nominees in this category for the first time, per new rules. Although this category never had a guaranteed seven slots, close votes resulted in lineups of seven nominees in six of the last 15 years, including last year:
“Game of Thrones” season 8: “The Iron Throne” (David Benioff & D.B. Although Jason Bateman returned as a director on “Ozark” for its third season, he cannot repeat his win, as he is instead submitting the pilot of “The Outsider,” which is next to “Ozark” on the long ballot.

There’s 40 days and counting until the still-tentative opening of “Tenet” — and with it, the hopes for a successful reopening of theaters worldwide. Meanwhile, over the next two weeks, we’ll see the streaming debuts of three films that would have had a theatrical presence under normal circumstances. Netflix will debut the Spike Lee drama about black Vietnam veterans, “Da 5 Bloods,” on June 12; the same day will see Judd Apatow’s “The King of Staten Island,” which will be available from Universal as a $19.99 rental. Universal also just announced that Blumhouse’s horror mystery “You Should Have Left” with Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried will debut on VOD June 19.
At this point, it seems fair to declare Universal the king of VOD. “Trolls World Tour” and “The Invisible Man,” along with specialized unit Focus’ “The High Note,” “Harriet,” and “Emma” all scored high in VOD rankings. “Trolls” returned to #1 at Amazon Prime,...

Almost four months after indoor theaters shut down, a small fraction are reopening around the country. Drive-ins continue to lead grosses: IFC Films’ “The Wretched” is a standout success. That’s because IFC reports those drive-in numbers. Universal does not: they had the real #1 grosser for the eighth straight week
Meanwhile, at-home movie-watching habits are evolving into a new normal. This weekend, Focus Features launched “The High Note” as a premium VOD release (along with a few theaters), which marks the second Universal theatrical title (after “Trolls World Tour”) to move to initial home viewing. Judd Apatow’s “The King of Staten Island” is next up on June 12.
Universal is deftly maneuvering in the VOD space; the homevideo division finally lowered prices for premium-price titles “The Hunt” and “The Invisible Man” (which opened in theaters before swiftly moving to VOD), with upbeat results. On the other hand, romantic comedy “The Lovebirds,...

Home invasion thrillers form a subgenre that, like zombie movies, won’t ever go out of fashion, and the latest addition to them is Survive the Night, which has just had a bloody and intense clip released.
The bulk of the film takes place in the remote and isolated house of Rich, a trauma doctor being sued for malpractice and considering settling without a fight, whose home is invaded by a pair of murderer and armed robber brothers named Jamie and Mathias, the latter of whom has been mortally wounded in a gas station shoot out caused by the former’s psychopathy. To repel the invaders, Rich must team up with his estranged father Frank, a retired sheriff, in the hope of surviving the incursion.
The clip in question, which is viewable above, shows an intense moment early in the ordeal (and flashed forward to in the movie’s opening...
