The most striking aspect of the commemorative events marking the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings on 6 June 2019 was the testimony of the veterans who participated in the conflict and who spoke eloquently and movingly about the events of 6 June 1944.
These interviews should be compulsory viewing so people understand the courage and sacrifice of a generation of men and women who displayed the “unconquerable resolve” the Queen spoke about during her speech in Portsmouth.
The film world has, of course, brought us many depictions of the Normandy landings and the subsequent battles. You will find a number of those titles in this list of the 20 greatest Second World War films.
These 20 movies only scratch the surface of the countless number made about the momentous event, but remind us of the horrors and sacrifices made during the devastating global conflict.

This article contains spoilers for Better Call Saul season 6.
There are cons and then there are long cons.
Ever since Jimmy McGill a.k.a. Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) resolved to frame their rival Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian) for “something unforgivable” in the Better Call Saul season 5 finale, fans have eagerly awaited the arrival of that plan. As it turns out, however, revenge is a dish best served slowly and deliberately.
Throughout the first six episodes of the show’s sixth and final season, Jimmy and Kim have laid the groundwork for something major to happen to Howard. In the season’s first few episodes, the married couple successfully got Howard’s business partner Cliff Main (Ed Begley Jr.) to suspect that the hotshot lawyer may be abusing cocaine. But that’s just a soupçon of what’s really to come. In “Axe and Grind,...

Bia goes from wearing her jewelry at the bodega to shopping near Big Ben as she brings her own flair to the drill rap style of the U.K. as she’s joined by J. Cole on “London,” out Thursday.
“We really wanted to capture, celebrate and highlight London culture, while staying authentic to who we are,” the Afro-Latina rap star tells Rolling Stone. “I definitely got in my London accent bag and people actually tell me it’s really good.”

"Saving Private Ryan" earned Steven Spielberg his second Academy Award for best director, and deservedly so. It's one of the greatest war movies of all time. Even those who weren't enamored of the overall film back in 1998 had to concede that its depiction of the D-Day landing on Omaha Beach in Normandy during World War II was an impressive technical feat.
Given the visceral impact of that sequence, you might be surprised to learn that Spielberg did not storyboard it or plan out elaborate shot lists for it beforehand. He also won the DGA (Director's Guild of America) Award for "Saving Private Ryan," and years later an issue...

Exclusive: Ridley Scott and Steven Knight are teaming for Roads to Freedom, a 10-episode epic that will tell the story of World War II from several international perspectives, based on Sir Antony Beevor’s books.
The intention is to tell the story using fresh and unique perspectives. While most Hollywood war films have focused on the American and British effort, Roads to Freedom will portray the brutal realities from multiple viewpoints, with characters not only from the U.S. and UK but also from Russia, Germany, France and other countries across the globe. That includes women, and children struggling to survive. The emphasis is on humanity, the characters bound together by one dramatic story. Some of the story lines will be discomforting, but heroic, and the race between East and West to capture Berlin will shed light on what became the foundations of the Cold War.

John Abraham has set the Box Office on fire and pleased critics and audiences alike with his new drama thriller Batla House, in UK cinemas now.
John Abraham portrays the role of officer Sanjeev Kumar Yadav during the events of Operation Batla House, which took place in 2008. Directed by Nikkhil Advani, Batla House also stars Mrunal Thakur and Nora Fatehi and is distributed in the UK by Cinestaan Film Company
You’ve recently been doing very serious films, just like Batla House. What is the reason behind you choosing such films?
My next film is a full-on comedy called Pagalpanti, which we filmed in London, relasing in November. I’m not selecting films like Batla House by design. If a script appeals to me, I pick it up. Sometimes...
