At minute 21:17 Capt. Mato pushes the throttle levers to full ahead, and then again pushes the throttle levers to full ahead at minute 21:34. No corresponding reduction of throttle speed is performed between the two maneuvers.
When running away from the monster and the magma into the tunnels on Monster Island, General Horne and Sarah Murray end up at a gate which is locked with a padlock, leaving them trapped. When the magma blocks the other way out, they go back to the gate and General Horne kicks it open. The padlock is clearly missing and the gate is only 'secured' with a chain very loosely wrapped around the gate.
When Eric Roberts is first seen as General Horne, his shirt reads 'New Zealand', but has an Australian flag on the shoulder.
At 32:55 Cherise states that "If it was intact I'd be getting something" in relation to the submarine. In fact, there would be a sonar reading whether the sub was intact, split in half or chopped into bite size pieces.
While New Zealand does have a coastguard, the Royal New Zealand Coastguard, it is a civilian, non-governmental search and rescue organization, not a branch of the armed forces.
At 1:10:30, with no apparent way to lift or roll the egg, somehow Ford and the ladies with him manage to get the cargo net under the egg to transport the egg to its destination.
At 1:04:44 Billy Ford runs away from a gate keeping he and Cherise in the tunnel where the magma is being directed at them.
At the time noted, the lock can clearly be seen to NOT be locked, but is instead only hanging on a link of the chain.
Less than ten seconds later, when Ford kicks the gate again, the lock is entirely gone.
"General" Horne played by SyFy movie regular Eric Roberts is allegedly a member of the New Zealand Coast Guard. In reality, general officers commonly exist in Air Forces, Armies and Marines. There are several instances where Horne's uniform can be closely observed.
Horne is incorrectly wearing a Navy "dress white" uniform instead of a khaki-colored combat uniform. The layout of patches is highly inaccurate. Instead of wearing a name badge, he wears a patch displaying in all-caps the word "Navy". Horne's uniform displays three large stars above his right shirt pocket. Three naval stars commonly indicate the rank of Vice Admiral. The shoulder patches he wears are incorrect and are actually the patches of a New Zealand Naval Sub Lieutenant. Horne can be seen wearing full service medals on his uniform which would only be worn in ceremonies and not in combat.
