too verbal, ordinary, annoying, negative
NijazBaBs30 January 2020
I liked this movie only for a good topic and that is crime which is also current and realistic. Also few good scary things which look authentic. But everything else is so fake, annoying, predictable, unreasonable. For example I expected more complicated or slowed end, more content and action, and different reactions of various people. Movie looks too empty, meaning missing more content in form of science, people, space. There is a presence that tells us this is not so real but acting, looking obvious. Also few holes in the story, like lack of more complete behaviors. Everything is random. Also the main girl character is so boring and natural, maybe too natural and normal. So much that she is boring. Her family and life looks too ordinary and boring. I expected something more cool, unusual, mysterious. Somehow too obvious and ordinary.

Pathetic
mwcanadian2 July 2020
This movie had a good idea that went in the toilet quick. The biggest issue I have with this movie is baby brother Corey. Sorry, but if my brother kidnapped a girl I possibly want to date, I'd turn on him (though quietly). And attempted rape on said girl also would've ended my loyalty to him. The brother was a good criminal and the girl was a good victim, but Corey's character was an idiot. Avoid this movie

Don't watch unless you are entertained by stupidity
aekamper-663842 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
At least you were background noise! How did lifetime movies get worse in 2020? Plot could have been good but no, let's not call the police when kidnapped. Then let's not call the police when you find the murdered boy! Like WTF. Stupid movie with people making the dumbest decisions, way to go lifetime maybe next time.

Beautiful kidnapped girl is the only highlight
jeriahswillgdp10 May 2020
All the characters make utterly stupid decisions at various points in the film, and the little brother who goes along with the whole plot is the worst one. Why in the world he was so terrified of his brother who isn't even bigger than him is beyond me. The film did NOT sell that relationship well. It didn't feel realistic. The little brothers friend, sure.. but that's the one believable character.

The plot is very stale and unoriginal, but it is interesting at times, and the kidnapped daughter is naturally gorgeous, so there's that at least.

I'd recommend skipping this one. Just look up Paige Searcy's instagram instead. Better use of your time.

Can't believe this came out in 2020
danielle-282082 July 2020
The kidnapper, Hunter (James Lucas), ruined the entire movie! Every sentence he spoke I felt like he was trying to over compensate the already pooy written storyline.

The mom was such an idiot.
firebolt-055177 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Everyone knows that if your child gets kidnapped, you should not call the police, but instead venture out by yourself to save them. That's the mindset of the mother in this movie. I get that they wanted to do the whole "strong mom who does anything for her child" kind of story, but this was ridiculous. Even after being threaten by a drug dealer and finding a dead body, she STILL insists that the police doesn't get involved. It's both hilarious and frustrating to watch at times. What's even funnier is that she unsuccessfully tries to fight the kidnapper with a tire iron and THEN tried to scare him by saying the cops were on the way. This was probably the most hilarious moment of the movie.

The Telltale Tattoo
lavatch30 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"Kidnapped by a Classmate" (a.k.a., "Killer Ransom," a.k.a., "Gone Daughter Gone") is a film with two of most repellent villains imaginable. The tandem of brothers in Corey and Hunter Gilbert are quite a pair.

Corey is a high school student who befriends a new student, Brooke Moore, whom he meets on her first day in class at Rosedale High School. She tries to prep him for a quiz in history class by informing him about the Lindbergh kidnapping.

When Corey's older brother, Hunter, learns that Brooke resides in the affluent Westbrook district, he improvises an illogical kidnapping scheme. As a sycophant for the ages, Corey goes along with his bro like a puppet on a string. Corey might have had a nice friendship with Brooke. Instead, he remains completely under the spell of his dissolute brother.

The kidnapping scheme is foiled to the herculean efforts of Brooke's mom, Shannon. Mother and daughter had lived a hardscrabble life for years until Shannon met Andrew. Now, when they are settling into a beautiful new home, the unspeakable happens in the kidnapping of Brooke.

One of the most interesting characters is Jade, a poor, little waif residing at the community youth detention center where Shannon is applying for a job. It is Jade who provides to Shannon the first clue about a tattoo on the kidnapper's arm that will lead Shannon to her daughter. Andrea "Lifetime" Bogart, a great fan favorite, plays the role of the sensitive mom, Shannon.

While the film was overly unpleasant with the tag team of Corey and Hunter, there was a redeeming element with the devotion felt by mother and daughter. Brooke tells the kidnappers that "we had each other" during the years of hardship they endured. The wisdom is lost on the callous brothers.

The relentless pursuit of Brooke was spearheaded by the mom who located the nefarious Hunter by way of his tattoo. In the end, it was the supermom who would stop at nothing to find her daughter, and she followed through in placing Jade in a loving family as another badge of her integrity.

The mom's acting ruined the whole movie!
rileymm-8261921 September 2021
Nobody's acting in this movie was Oscar-worthy, but the woman who played the mom was just terrible! Nothing that she said was even remotely believable.

When in doubt....
elizabethbyers851 February 2022
Don't forget that ALL tattoo artists are in "crews" & know eachother. All of them are shady criminals and being a blonde white woman means you can demand your way out of ANY situation. 10/10 fine family film!

Negative is the best way to describe this 1 hour and 23 minutes of travesty
lmnclips4 November 2020
I agree with another reviewer here, saying this movie was negative, it was, and they are many other ways to describe this movie, and none of it is good. This was the typical movie where a girl is kidnapped and held for ransom, yeah, very original! Oh and can I talk about the acting? It's horrendous, and they were a lot of miscast actors, like the mom, and the younger brother of the kidnapper. This movie should've never seen the light of day and should be avoided by everyone!

Silly story about silly people
phd_travel24 January 2020
An amateurish kindapping by some high school kids with no exit plan gets an amateur rescue operation by Mom. It's funny the way the bungling attempt to take the girl unfolded. But what did they expect to do with the girl after?. It's dumb that the mother didn't want to contact the cops straight away, but I guess there would have been no movie. They all deserved each other. She didn't seem that rich anyway. Hardly worth risking jail for.

Avoid this movie
powergran27 April 2020
The soundtrack ...music/songs... recording quality were all irritating. The plot was weak with obvious silly decisions being made simply to move the action (???) Not a credit to the actors or film company Sorry guys

Good premise, poor execution
lololguys26 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The premise was good, albeit done much better many times in other similar movies.

Pros:
  • The psychological manipulation by the older brother on the younger one worked well and you can tell the latter is conflicted by what he's doing.

  • The friend's acting was well done and his plot made sense.

Cons:
  • The mother-daughter relationship felt very fake/forced and stiffly acted.

-Their argument about the ski resort came out of completely nowhere and made no sense. How would a group of teens rent out/plan an entire ski resort trip without any kind of chaperone (even though one was clearly shown later on in the movie!)?

  • Both the girl and mom acted dumb and made stupid decisions throughout the movie. Some examples:
-Unstable captor with a gun is giving you orders. What do you do? Spit in his face according to this girl!

-Mother has the captor's name and address. What does she do? Charge in with a TIRE IRON. This was one of the dumbest decision's I've seen made in a Lifetime film. If this family's so wealthy, surely they'd have a gun/other weapons around (See next point).

  • How does this family have $250,000 to give the captor (not including anything from their house apparently)? Why is the daughter walking around in ragged clothes and has to be choosey about what clothes she's getting because the mom hasn't gotten her paycheck yet? Did their family seriously get $250,000 together in less than a day?

  • The dad called the cops at just the exact moment for them to arrive when the captors have been defeated. Sure...

Background Noise Issues
zhynpgj29 May 2022
All of the background noise in this movie is way too loud. Sound tracks of birds and insects chirping playing in the background of indoor scenes, dialogue completely disguised by music and sounds effects. Absolutely terrible sound quality.

predictable but ok
LetsReviewThat2628 May 2022
As with most of the made for tv thriller genre the movies follow the same patturn, just not all of them work. In the case of killer ransom, or one of the other three names this movie goes by it does in some respects. Sure its predictable by the acting was ok by the main star. The only thing I really found a little annoying was the odd background noise. There was a scene where you heard it raining, but everything was dry outside. There was also the noise of a shower that wasent even on. It made the characters unreadable in some areas. Overall though it was a descent thriller that was easy to follow.
