Most be honest here; my morbid curiosity sometimes leads me to bad decisions. Late night on Plex, saw the name, poster and horrible description of this movie, had to see what it was. It is a really bad and poorly done movie. There are so many technical things wrong and after a while the movie kind of forgets what it´s about and dose whatever to end itself. I think there was a fine idea in here, but it´s done so poorly it hurts. This looks and feels like a direct to YouTube movie and it´s not an enjoyable watch in any way.
A pair of friends making memes on social media is confronted by a man in the forest, after one of them loses their lives, the other has to think about who he is now.
This movie has so much technically wrong with it. I´m referring to basic filmmaking here. White balance isn't set all the time, lighting is different from shot to shot, the editing is too fast and clunky, the cameraman shakes a lot, the overlays are not well done and unreadable, the camera doesn't focus on important text so that it´s readable, so many angels are ugly shot. It´s incredible how ugly this movie is.
The sound is not good either. Sometimes it sounds like the microphone was placed too far from actors, so the sound is not good and can´t really be heard. The music can also overpower the voices. In general, more takes should have been taken to make sure voices could be heard. There is just so much fundamentally wrong here. There is even some lines that seems dubbed afterwards, but the mouth on the characters and lines are clearly out of sync.
The acting is not good. It could be far worse, but the main character is not the strongest actor. He doesn't really sell his line and underact in many instances. The female characters aren't much better but lightyears ahead of the lead. In general, the acting is cringe and especially the villain is performed really poorly and unbelievable. The movie hides behind a comedy/thriller tag to explain why something doesn't work and some serious lines are now comedy, but it´s clearly an afterthought to make the movie sound like it works more than it does.
The score is really awful. It´s hard to take serious and doesn't really fit the movie. It´s such a light tone for a thriller and the sensitizer doesn't fit the movie at all.
There are some memes in this movie, real old Facebook humor. White borders, emojis and the bruh sound effect. This is accurate to some of the Vine humor from back in the day though but this has come out at a time where it´s not funny anymore. But it´s more of a time capsule from back then so it works in context I guess, but if the movie thinks it´s funny it´s more laughable than anything it does.
The plot is really stupid and pointless. It feels far longer than it is and that says a lot for an hour-long movie. After a while the movie kind of gives up and becomes an "and then" movie where it´s just doing stuff to fill out time. There is a good idea in here about a guy realizing his nothing without his partner, but the movie never really focuses on this and after a while it becomes about nothing. When it get´s to the physiatrist scenes it drags on and on about nothing and the conclusion to the movie could have been cool if it was earned. As it stands, it´s just kind of dumb and an ending just because the movie needs one. It´s a movie that never really ends up saying or doing anything. It´s aimless and pointless, not diving into anything it dose.
Also why is the movie called bruh.mp4? It´s not really an important part of the movie, that sound effect that is, other than it´s overused in a skit in the beginning.
This movie is not worth it. It´s clearly someone's first movie but it should not have been released as an actual movie, just put on the creator's website, YouTube or something. It´s technically so bad and has so many beginners' flaws. The acting and story is really bad but I see what they wanted to do. It doesn't come to fluorescent though and overall this was just morbid curiosity from me, wanting to know what was hiding behind a stupidly titled movie, not much.
