Although it sounds like a wild story best suited for Maynard... this time it's Dobie, up to his neck in uncharted military territory. What a mess!
Dobie falls for Marcia (played by Barbara Bricker), the pretty secretary of Lt. Merriwether. She's an army brat, yes, with lots of relatives who skillfully climbed the ranks in the military. Question; how to win her over? Answer: Dobie makes up a whopper, all about Herb being a legendary war hero of heroes!
Not an original sitcom story, as its been done many times, but watching Dobie tell a big fat lie is something to see.
Naturally, the walls come tumbling down, especially when Dobie addresses his fellow officers and relates the outrageous tale of his mighty father single-handedly blowing up an enemy bridge! Check out the gag special effects (in the camp style of a cheap sci fi flick) showing Herb literally glowing when he ka-booms the bridge!
