Many more Loki variants are briefly introduced, including the leader of the group, an exact copy of the Loki from the 2016 comic series "Vote Loki," and Loki Variant L8914 (with horns and sunglasses), who was previously seen as a hologram in episode 2.
Just before Loki and the 4 variants enter the underground vault, there is a small helicopter with "Thanos" written on it. It perfectly resembles the helicopter Thanos piloted in "Spidey Super Stories" issue 39 (published March, 1979), a simplified comic book adaptation of the Spider-Man spots on The Electric Company (1971).
Director Kate Herron confirmed that Throg in this episode is voiced by Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth.
The title of the episode comes from the comic book series "Journey into Mystery". Loki made his first appearance in issue 85 (October 1962). The original version of this series was renamed "The Mighty Thor" at issue 126. The original title was revived for various purposes such as a horror anthology in the 1970s and various spin-off titles feature characters from the Thor series in the 1990s, and 2000s.
Kid Loki is seen drinking a carton of Hi-C Ecto Cooler, a drink that was first sold in 1989 to promote Ghostbusters II (1989) and the animated series The Real Ghostbusters (1986).
