Fascinating Episode!
g-bodyl26 June 2014
This is the eleventh episode of the second season of Dexter and it's a great episode, though I was surprised for some time especially how Dexter felt this episode. Based around his ethics, I never thought Dexter would feel the way he did in this episode. But things are wild as the search for the Bay Harbor Butcher continues. There are even a few darkly comedic moments here in scene as Dexter contemplates on telling Debra who he really is.

In this episode, "Left Turn Ahead," Dexter is still unsure what to do especially after what he discovered about Harry. He believes he should turn himself in but he decides to take a day to prepare. Meanwhile, Doakes manages to escape but he gets trapped in people no better than Dexter. In order to get at Dexter, Lila frames Angel for raping her and Debra realizes that she is actually an illegal immigrant.

Overall, this is an excellent episode and based on the ending, there are promises for an excellent finale. These episodes are getting more daunting by the day which is a good thing. Unlike other crime shows, Dexter does new things to reach its goals. I rate this episode 9/10.

Dex: For such a neat monster I'm making an awfully big mess.
antisocial122 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Dexter: I've really enjoyed our conversations, James. I lie to everyone I know, except my victims, right before I kill them. It's hard to establish much of a rapport there.

Lots of wonderful Dex/Deb scenes in this one.

Dex gets Deb to comes over to tell her he is the butcher, and imagines each scenario. :)

Deb: You decide who you are, who you wanna be and you ride it out.

Deb: Is this steak worth living for or what? A rye smile from Dex as he was about to confess and give up his livelihood, but comes to his senses with the help of Deb, that life is worth living.

Wonderful episode.

Arriving in the Destination
claudio_carvalho22 August 2010
Dexter lives a dilemma with Doakes imprisoned in the cabin, and is considering the possibility of turning himself in. Meanwhile Lila frames Angel and accuses him of rape to force Dexter to stay with her. Debra asks Lundy to investigate Lila and they discover that Lila is an illegal immigrant. The FBI Deputy Director Max Adams assumes the manhunt of Doakes and finds a lead that he may be in Everglades. Lila steals the GPS from Dexter's minivan and arrives in the cabin where Doakes is captive.

"Left Turn Ahead" is the penultimate episode of this Second Season and Dexter will be in a serious situation since Lila has found Doakes and now he might have to get rid of them two to keep his secret. My vote is eight.

Absolutely Delicious Episode, Loved It! [9.6/10]

My Reaction / Review for Dexter Season 2 Episode 11 ''Left Turn Ahead'' (S2. E11): Episode 10 was awesome and I gave it a rating of 9.5/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Wow Lila now wants to frame Angel for ra-pe? I knew she would somehow hurt Angel. It is so unfair, Angel is such a good and kind dude. Also it's another way to get Dex's attention. Doakes escaped? Damn, that's really bad news. Wow, now Angel gets arrested? What the hell? Dex thinks about surrendering to the police? Yeah no way. Lila is using a fake name? Not a surprise really. Rita has such a kind soul, she forgives Dexter for what he has done, I wouldnt. Wow will Lila find Doakes? That's insane, what an awesome episode. My rating is 9.6/10.

We're all going to die eventually

Warning: Spoilers
1. Doakes escapes but recaptured 2. Dex is a simp for Rita 3. Dex gonna see through

Dexter's inner struggle is so delicately presented in this episode. He briefly considers turning himself in but decides not to after a talk with Debra. I'm a little skeptical on that plot but I was expecting for that to not happen.

Lila is such a destructive force I'm scared to see what she's gonna do next. Can't wait for the season finale!

Codependents, psychos, and a serial killer with an on again/off again conscience
skay_baltimore3 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly...this show just cannot get out of its own way.

And to make matters worse, the constant voice overs with Dexter bearing his wash and wear soul is almost as insufferable as his codependent, passive-aggressive love interest, Rita.

When will it all end? What will it take to make it stop? Are you THE MAN, Dexter, or are you NOT the man? Or maybe...are you a man, Dexter, or are you a mouse? And if you ARE a mouse, are you the mouse that roared, or the mouse that snored? This snooze fest is spinning out of control. Because that's what happens when the characters are such that no one gives a damn.

And of course there are more stupid "coincidences", like Dexter leaving his window down JUST ENOUGH for Lila to stick her arm inside and unlock the door. Please.

(And with lines like Deb delivered to Lundy: "You're a God. Don't you forget it", how could it NOT fail?!!)

Such is life in the slow lane of Dexter...The Not Really Dark/Not Really Light Avenger.
