Trailer trash at Dunkirk
guy-36620 January 2021
This French series reminds us of Thelma and Louise but updated to 2020. In the bleak city of Dunkirk in between the ferries to England and the trailer park on the beach, the men are losers, thugs and local crime lords, the women are penniless wannabe's, bad mothers or hopelessly in love. Veerle Baetens as Cheyenne, leading the interesting cast, is excellent.

Veerle Baetens - nuff said
davepasnthru24 February 2021
I've been a Veerle Baetens fan for years and I think she is one of the best but perhaps most under appreciated actresses working...ANYWHERE. She is why I decided to watch because otherwise this would generally not be my type of show. And Veerle doesn't disappoint. She almost always looks completely different in each of her roles. Would recommend Code 37 and The Broken Circle Breakdown. As for Cheyenne and Lola, Charlotte Le Bon gives a strong performance as the second half of the mismatched duo. The script does wander a but is generally compelling and populated with some interesting characters who move the story adroitly with good tension being built. There are also some well placed and appreciated comedic elements mostly involving the the two leads. It's definitely worth the watch.

It's intelligent, fun and absolutely wild. Charlotte LeBon and Veerle Baetens are brilliant and the direction is perfect.

Life is tough then you find a sista

I loved this bleak, funny series. The acting is superb Veerle in particular is brilliant as the put upon but tough older sister to everyone.

It's obvious this is written by a female because they own the screen and the story, definitely worth your time.

Great acting, great scene

If you don't like it, you're missing somthing... the ability to empathize with scene probably. The total package acting, the scene, story, humor ... it's there. Love both main characters.

Best serie ever
erakantoor9 November 2021
Amazing serie with a lot of depth, amazing story so realistic about 2 women fighting to survive at the board of society. Its a serie but better then a movie, raw, uncensored, brutal and they did what no serie ever dared going to the deep loneliness and emptyness of twoo soles who have only each other with a dramatic end ... its so fantastic its the best since i have seen pulp fiction years ago. I hope a serie 2 is coming soon! Rewards will surely follow!

Absolutely hilarious with a dark undertone.

Brilliant mix with extreme characters and plot. Maybe one just a bit too moral, and the penultimate action (IMO) could have been done a bit better. But otherwise...10 stars.

Thelma and Louise... err Non

Warning: Spoilers
Other reviews have likened Cheyenne & Lola to Thelma and Louise, thats not how I see this series, as far as I recall and I've not seen Thelma and Louise for a very long time, but as I recall they escape and run riot across the United States.

Cheyenne and Lola is deeper in it's story about two women feeling they have no control over their lives and subsequently taking that control back, especially from the "big boss" and proverbial bully Yannick, the local gangster and his gang, which they accomplish with aplomb.

I do like a spot of European cinema so perhaps I'm a little biased, but I really enjoyed the series, even though at the start I was a little sceptical, it got better and better over the 8 episodes, to the final showdown.

I really feel this series deserved another season, but what with Lola getting shot by Babettes hitman, even though she told Lola she didn't care anymore, she clearly wanted revenge, so a second series was pretty unlikely, which is a shame in my humble opinion.

8/10 for me.

An absolute nightmare
hoeystephanie14 February 2021
The characters are empty, uninteresting and the performances are simply appalling. The story line does not compare to Thelma and Louise in its complexity and subtleties. In brief, if you like cinema, don't waste your time.
