While searching for sneaked-off unwilling patient Jonah Albermerle (eight), Conrad smells gas but is a second too late to stop colleague Eloise Camden opening a door and thus triggering an explosion in the particle collider caused by the construction for a new neurosurgery center, suspiciously quickly after Red Rock Mountain Medical took over Chastain, as it now gets insurance payout for the major money drain. Conrad is mildly wounded and saved both others, but emergency surgery on the fellow doc was almost pointless as she's diagnosed with terminal brain tumors. Devon and Irving must pull rank on the blind former patient who starts as junior resident but refuses to take proper account of her still fragile physique and is cocky. Only worrying over the explosion victims distracts CEO Randolph Bell from giving a VIP welcome to his key recruit, spoiled Texan star surgeon Barrett Cain, who bills 80 million annually but has a god complex and is arrogantly lazy.
