The story of how a dedicated doctor created Dena's Doubles, an online home for parents of twins to connect, support and encourage one another. Together they have built a unique community that is pure, non-judgmental and incredibly empowering. A community that in a world of diminished family values, we can all draw inspiration from.

They say the 1st 100 days is the hardest as a parent to twins and it's true. It's incredibly difficult, exhausting and stressful. But you do it. Because you must. Obgyn and twin specialist, Dr Dena Bloomenthal, recognized the incredible challenge faced by new parents and wanted to help.

In 2015, Dr Dena Bloomenthal, founded a private Facebook community called Dena's Doubles. This is a place where expectant parents can meet one another, ask questions and gain much needed advice, support and encouragement.

But there's more to this community than advice and encouragement. Through Dena's policy of "payment with a photo" on every post, members quickly become invested in each others stories.

Not only do they help with words of encouragement but, when they've made it through the gauntlet of those 1st 100 days, they pay it forward to the newest members with clothes, accessories, strollers, cribs, etc. They even deliver hot meals to their door or the NICU in those first harrowing few weeks.

The most unique thing about this community (especially one that exists online!) is that there is ZERO judgment and ZERO trolling. Nobody has ever had to be banned or even warned because here. there is only the shared bond of love and resilience. Everyone here has been through it, is going through it or is about to go through it. The camaraderie is much like that of people who have served together in combat!

Parenthood in the modern age is challenging. Often both parents must work. Some are not in a position to take maternity or paternity leave, and childcare is prohibitively expensive for many. As the traditional family structure fades, many find themselves with few family members able to help.

Dena's Doubles is a story that through the incredible challenge of raising twins, shows how much of a difference community makes. It is a story of strangers coming together, of lifetime friendships formed and of inspiration, not just to parents of multiples but ALL parents.

Dena has delivered 500+ sets of twins in 15yrs and not only is she an incredibly talented doctor and a funny, quirky and exceptional human being, but she also cares deeply about her patients. A care that stretches far beyond her job description.
