Bookie movie

Beautifully shot, unexpected timeline and a lot of jokes. On the other hand the characters were too upper class Europeans to find them relatable. The dialog, although superb, was way too literary - you could easily tell you are watching a book adapted to the screen than a full-blooded fim. I ddn't feel bored even for a second during these two hours, yet something was lacking - the depth was sacrificed for the width. The acting was good, especially the young ones. The audience that would appreciate this movie is middle- and old-aged analog people, while if you come from the generation born on the verge of the 21st century, you may find it awkward (or revealing) how people communicated in the pre-digital era.

Film appreciated by mature audience

A very interesting movie to watch, it is especially so for people of a more mature age .. I think that younger people might find it a bit tedious and beyond their comprehension.. namely due to their lack of life experience and who therefore might be unable to appreciate the ironies and absurdities of life, all of which the film aptly depicts. It is a film which makes one reflect about one's own life, and achievements, and about what is really important in life. The performance of the cast was also commendable. I particularly liked the main male protagonist, whom I have seen acting in Italian movies, usually comedies.

the kind of movie we all need right now

"The heart has its reasons that reason ignores "Blaise Pascal" If you could make changes in your life, reflecting on some choices you made in the past ,which one would you make ?

This beautiful film reminds us that time goes by, quickly...And that regrets are something you have to endure your entire life Amanda Sthers tells us the story of Alessendro played beautifully by PierFrancesco Favino throughout time from his childhood in the 1950's until the 2020's... His intimate life, wounds, secrets that will affect his choices and make him miss the most important thing - The love of his life - The movie is very moving, you travel through time in a very realistic way, you follow the characters lives while they get older, Very touching, authentic and simple at the same time . This is truly the type of film that we need now, in these crazy times we are going though.

Beautiful and very moving

I saw "Promises" at Rome Festival, where it premiered with a 15 minutes standing ovation at the magical Auditorium Parco della Musica The entire audience was indeed very moved.

Amanda Sthers made a brilliant adaptation of her award winning and amazing book.

I had read the book and was looking forward to seeing the film.

Intense and very moving story, the actors are all striking and touching .

Amanda Sthers knows how to capture the deep soul of them, throughout their lives,

Special additional shout-out to how the wonderful landscapes of Italy are filmed as well.

You definitely reflect a lot on your own life afterwards.

A very precious film .
