All casts are great except Morgan Oey

This movie is hilarious and full of satire joke about the boss.. Silly yet entertaining.

However, like in every other movies, Morgan Oey has always been an annoying appearance with his poor acting. I think this movie would be better without him.

Nevertheless, overall it's still a great movie for the entire family to watch on the weekend.

Commedy

For lovers of comedy films you need to watch this film. This film is typical Malay. Precisely taken from a Malaysian background. This film is very humorous and is suitable for people who have a high sense of humor. For those who don't like it, you can also watch as long as you can hold back your resentment because the film is so annoying that it will upset the audience. The music accompaniment to the film is very suitable because it uses Malay language, according to its origin, namely Malaysia. Not only in Malay background, this film also lifts the background of social life in Thailand. And this film also shows some views of culture and economic conditions in Malaysia and Thailand. The film also elevates the use of language in several countries, making this film sound more interesting. And the most important of these films is to use silly ways to solve various problems that arise in the story. For the whole, the film is interesting and very funny, which will make the audience laugh out loud.

A great sitcom formula, but a major no for a movie sequel

The first film is a faithful and great adaptation of a comedy book. It has great characters and acting, somewhat unearthly settings, and a thin and understandable plot. Unfortunately, this sequel only manage to keep the characters funny, without any effort to tell a story. They have many conflicts that can be used as a premise to keep the linearity of the movie plot, such as how Kerani's husband keep favoring Bossman's wish, rather that his wife's, or how the Bossman manage to avoid the debt collectors. But, this movie clearly avoid those difficult themes and rather play it safe and solely dependent on Bossman's odd behaviors and slapstick nature throughout the film.

I have no problem with such narratives, but the movie also love to prolong some scenes (like the debt collectors' dance battle) just to make sure that the audience will have a laugh moment in every scene. This attempt somewhat similar to many Indonesian horror movies that love to scare the audience in every possible scene. The prolonged scenes (with repeated formula) can only manage to cover for a while, and after that, it leaves me bored to death.

For me, My Stupid Boss is a good formula as a sitcom (like The Office, OB: Office Boy), but I think the story is somewhat too thin and petite for a big screen. They actually have what it takes to make a great sitcom: Odd and distinct characters, lots of conflicts, and many cool and wicked ideas. It's a pity that such potential only kept in a movie format, which obviously, needs stronger plot that this movie is lack of.

But ... considering how this movie is well received by the audience, they (obviously) going to try make the same attempt later. It's TMI, but I think the makers can't keep this style for so long, because unlike Warkop DKI movie series, My Stupid Boss lacks of interesting side characters that can be used as a subplot. Until that happens, I doubt the film will continue to be as interesting as the first one.
