Hey MORONS it's a COMEDY horror, its SUPPOSE to be funny and it was HILARIOUS!!!
joiningjt28 October 2021
I'm so sick of you negative idiots who give a comedy horror a 1 because it's not scary, or not gory enough for you. This film was MORE comedy and only people with NO sense of humor would rate it any lower than a SOLID 7 or higher!! We laughed our asses off, phenomenal cast and the main actresses are going to be stars, they had great comedy timing fantastic facial expressions we watch 3 movies a day it's our PASSION and we know great actors and a great film when we see 1. This cast and crew did a phenomenal job. EXTREMELY glad we purchased the bluray!!! Will see what they do next!!

It was a fun, tongue in cheek monster flick. I enjoyed it
siderite13 January 2020
When horny teens have sex for the first time then the girl accidentally gets pregnant and gives birth, it's a tragedy. But what if it all happened in just two days and the offspring was a resurrected Mayan monster? That's the whole idea of the film and, spoiler alert, the title does not refer to a verb. But it's fun, with the usual tropes of the horror movies all present, but contextualized in an entertaining way. Is it perfect? Hell no! But I've seen a lot of horror comedies that are not even close to the level of hilarity of this. If it have had just a little bit more budget, the gore would have complemented perfectly the plot. As such, it was just a lot of blood and two horrifying monsters.

If you like tongue in cheek horror, this is a film you should probably watch.

Sir, did you notice the lobster in your neck?
deloudelouvain15 February 2020
I wasn't expecting too much from this movie, horror and comedy mixed together isn't really the genre where you find a lot of gems. But in all fairness I was pretty surprised by the outcome. I had more laughs then with a standard comedy so for that alone it's worth the detour. The "lobster in the neck" had me in tears, that's going to be a cult phrase, for sure in my entourage. Storywise it is what it is, some people are entertained by this kind of stories (I was for sure), others will think it's ridiculous. The horror wasn't bad at all, the acting neither, but the humoristic touch is what makes this movie stand out from the rest. I recommend this movie, especially if you're a stoner and like an odd and weird story, nothing to take too seriously.

Refreshingly silly & fun
eboogyman210 January 2020
Remember when movies were fun and didn't preach present day politics with varying degrees of woke narratives? I didn't mind it at first, but eventually it became the norm. Crafting a story filled with fun likable characters seemed to be a chore and a burden to get through, after peppering social messages throughout.

By simply having a story that stays away from that made this movie refreshing and delightful. Every one of the diverse cast of characters were likeable and fun & the story was simple escapism reminding me of teen comedies of the early 2000s.

Yes the story is silly but it's well acted and all the cast has good chemistry together. I'll be following them all in the future.

Onpar with Feast/Evil Aliens
visad8 January 2020
First, everyone is allowed to have their own opinion so when you read the review by arfdawg-17 remember that. I am not a member of the studio, rather a fan of cheeky small film studio greats, which this is definitely one of. Despite the previous mentioned review I decided to watch it. It was definitely not what he mentioned it was. I found it to be a campy, semi serious, teenage "horror" movie worthy of taking the time to enjoy. Watching it made me think of Evil Aliens, Feast and other similar movies. It was not perfect, but it was a fun ride, well acted for the new cast that starred, with a fresh new take on alien invasions. I watched this entire thing, enjoyed every moment of it and had fun at the multiple new and unexpected moments while the movie poked fun at old tropes.

Like a kebab when you're drunk, Scrumptious.
donttouchmeprimate13 January 2020
I honestly don't know why this doesn't get more love. I thought the cast were perfect, the cinematography and clever use of direction was superb (a word there I've used maybe 3 times in my life) and the plot plays out fantastically well.

OK sure, the story is actually a bit basic, and the second half completely ruins the pace of the film but, it works for a film that doesn't take itself seriously and the 'monsters' were a bit "meh" but still, this is a film driven by the characters rather than the creatures.

I love it. I also now love Mary Nepi. Mary Call me.

Note: I'll also accept marriage from Halle Berry. Just in case.

Her first time could be her last time.
BA_Harrison24 April 2020
Comedy horror Snatchers' patently silly premise promises to be a lot of fun: after pretty teen Sara (Mary Nepi) has sex for the first time, she finds that she is pregnant with an alien. An enthusiastic cast give it their all and some decent creature effects help immensely, but a hit and miss script means that the film is only a partial success.

It didn't come as much of a surprise to learn that Snatchers started life as a short: it definitely feels as though writers Stephen Cedars, Benji Kleiman and Scott Yacyshyn struggled to stretch their initial six minute project to feature length, with much of their material failing to have the desired comedic effect. Nepi makes for an appealing lead, and she is given able support by Gabrielle Elyse as Hayley, the schoolfriend who helps Sara with her unusual predicament; it is largely thanks to these two girls that Snatchers is as enjoyable as it is, even with its flaws, their likeable characters sharing a breezy rapport that prevents the film from completely stalling during its more awkward moments.

A nifty alien spider creature gives the film a much-needed lift towards the end, but it is short lived, being dispatched in a disappointingly unspectacular fashion.

5/10. Passable fun, but ultimately fails to fulfil its potential.

Beyond awesome for what it is.
mihsankan7 January 2020
I was extremely surprised when this (let's be honest) tier B movie turned up to be so fun and well made. It is not without flaws, but actors did a great job, jokes are mostly funny and cheap'ish (even old fashion) effects are still doing theyr job and are not hard on eyes.

P.S.: For me it had very "The Faculty" (1998) vibes.

Ignore the Ridiculous Phony 10-point Reviews!
arfdawg-17 January 2020
This movie is HORRIBLE.

Cheaply made. Poorly directed -- never make a movie again, please. Worst acted. A stoopid moronic script that is neither humorous nor insightful. And a bad soundtrack.

Worst movie so far in 2020.

Wish there was a way to get rid of those phony 10 point reviews clowns who are pushing this garbage inserted on IMDB

the revenge of the mexican alien
ops-525357 January 2020
Or the return of the ticks, or lets just say that it is a hilarious teenage comedy take on an old horrorgenre, which is a mix of the thing, gremlins , critters, and all the other mogwais that turned up in the 1980's, thrown in a blender, and out comes snatchers.

its unbelievably fun, excrusiating horror and gore, panick acting, and very nice use of music. it has it all except seriousness.

it could also have been an antiabortionst gem, to make the young one stay on the tray till you get ready set and married, but its not up to the grumpy old man to decide. what i can say though is that its a long time since last i saw something like this, it has some clues to it, but a highly recommend.

Ignore 'horrible' & 'lost 90 minutes' - Kick back & enjoy a fun-fest!
stevepat998 February 2020
When a reviewer says 'everything about the movie is good' you are NOT killing time by watching it, especially when there are thousands of bad movies out there. If you want a pleasant, original, well acted, horror fun-fest, look no further. A 5.3 rating, from 870 reviews, destroys any notion that the film is a horrid abomination of film making. Just the opposite. Mine and other 8 star reviews refer to the entertainment quotient large part to the young actors, the wacky script all hell bent on providing a fun movie ride. This film deliver just that i.e. innocent teen has one night stand and wakes up 9 months pregnant with a horrific, murderous alien offspring. Break out the popcorn and enjoy!

Interesting story but just bad
dar041719 February 2020
Looks like this film is just a niche audience some people seem to love it while others hate it. I was not a fan. I normally like these type of B horror films. The jokes were so bad they used them more then once. The sitting on the toilet gag is not funny the second or 3rd time. Not going to lie but the first time it was a little funny. The concept of the story was original enough and should have made a lot of solid laughs and gore and it did have a lot of gore but the laughs never came. Watch and you may love or watch and you may have to turn it off.

Super fun!
marie-ketring16 March 2019
I watched this during it's run at SXSW. This film was surprising and soulful despite its ridiculous premise. It stabs at everything from female sexuality to bro culture and women's relationships. I could see this being the next Gremlins or Critters.

Great film if you want to kill time, funny and supernatural.
thefastestweeb10 January 2020
Acting is good. Practical Effects are good. Been a while since I've seen a film like this so it was really nice to come back to this genre. As I said everything is good, not great but good. If you have nothing else to watch throw this one, you'll have a good time. Dumb fun.

Awfully unfunny
paulwattriley7 January 2020
Awful and unfunny. Not sure what sort of dumb this movie is aimed at. Looks like it initially was set for a series but never got aired (no wonder).

Guess they edited it and made this terrible movie out of it

etim-679-8579318 January 2020
I don't usually watch movies like this but after reading the other reviews I gave it a shot. This one was a fun surprise. I hadn't expected it to be so well acted and produced. The gags and social commentary barbs just kept coming. The special effects had the right mix of corn and gore for the often perfect impact. For sure, not your typical teen comedy/horror.

Good old fashioned fun and mayhem...
paul_haakonsen24 February 2020
I hadn't even heard about this 2019 movie titled "Snatchers" from directors Stephen Cedars and Benji Kleiman prior to stumbling upon it in 2020 and getting to sit down and watch it.

I assumed that it was a horror comedy, given the movie's cover and the brief synopsis.

Turns out that "Snatchers" was actually a surprisingly good and entertaining movie. And it was a horror comedy. But guess what? The movie actually managed to utilize both genres with a perfect blend ration, which made for a very unique and enjoyable movie.

I was genuinely entertained by what directors Stephen Cedars and Benji Kleiman had come up with in "Snatchers". And while it wasn't exactly innovative in terms of storyline and script, the movie more than made up for this in sheer entertainment value.

The characters in the movie were funny and quite nicely fleshed out on the screen, with lots of quirks, personality and appeal. And they had a great cast ensemble to perform the various roles and characters throughout the movie.

There is a very classic late 1980s horror feel to the movie, and it worked out very well.

The special effects were good and I really liked the creature designs.

I am rating "Snatchers" a solid six out of ten stars, and I will say that if you get the chance to sit down and watch this movie - do it! Quite entertaining and quite enjoyable.

I enjoyed it and I will not apologize
in-imdb-116 January 2020
I do not know about how this movie is to be received by young audiences, but being 40+ I found it hilarious. Actually it makes fun of young people at times, so this might infuriate them but I liked it. It is fast, no dead weight, it sparkles. I laughed hard several times at the jokes and this is the first movie that achieved this _on purpose_ for a long time. Congrats, and keep up the good work.

SNATCHED MY PRECIOUS 90 MINUTES
ricky_dry_county9 January 2020
It started well, I must say. That's often the case with these stinkers with half baked ideas. They lure you in and keep you hanging on for a redeeming moment that's never there. The trivia says it's based on a short film and that explains a lot. There are terribly unfunny teenage conversations galore here. 5-6 scenes where you're left wondering what was the point? I fast forwarded the final 15 minutes to the dreadful ending, good luck to those who are brave enough to sit through all of it.

"Snatchers" did contain scenes and dialogues that evoked laughter, but the whole idea, the plot, the ruined friendship and their reconciliation in a crisis was all cliché and unoriginal, boring one to death.

Simply well done
MellyMelfy2 December 2019
I was a little apprehensive when I screened this. Wasn't sure what to think but I was not disappointed at all. It's a fun ride, not meant to be taken seriously at all. The production team embraces the lunacy and the director/actors execute the formula flawlessly. Plenty of laughs to be had here. Even though the premise is outlandish as its meant to be, it still has a coming to age feel about it that's easy to like. I think Mary Nepi is worth following, she's wonderful.

Great fun from start to finish
rushknight14 February 2020
If you happen to appreciate moderately dark humor and a new spin on old horror tropes, this film is a good watch. There is no part of this film that takes itself seriously. It moves quick, the characters are static and the plot is ridiculous in the extreme. Quality entertainment.

The actors were clearly enjoying themselves in every respect, which is always very important to me in a movie. If the actors aren't into it, the audience won't be either. But in this movie it was clear that every participant had bought in entirely and they were having a great time making the movie. Their lines and emotive output was completely appropriate every time. There was not a single scene in the entire film that didn't work because it wasn't well directed or because the actors couldn't figure out how to deliver. This was very well done.

Not to mention, the girls were adorably cute and clearly loved working with each other.

The dialogue between the girls at the beginning was very superficial which led me to believe that it was going to remain a shallow teen comedy. I was happily surprised. The style of dialogue that may have seemed awful and inane at the beginning was awesome by the time the action started. I laughed a few times pretty well, the writing was very clever. Old tropes were nicely played and elaborated on.

Not to mention, the quality of the whole film is top notch. The picture is clear, the sound is perfect (although some sound effects were overkill), the special effects and gore were over the top silly but worked perfectly, the choreography between scenes is structured very well. The director knows how to make a movie.

My only complaint is that the film does what most "teenage" films do and assumes that young people don't think about or understand anything other than sex. But of course, that itself is a major factor in the plot and so it works. It's not for kids anyway.

So if you aren't a stick in the mud and can enjoy a fast moving horror-comedy, I recommend this. It was great fun.

Reminds me of other indie films a lot
NicholasMCG1 March 2020
This is very reminiscent of the 2016 indie film HoneyBee even a scene in the first act with the mom checking in over homework is very similar and the wardrobe with all the characters is totally similar its nuts. This movie is quite campy however, very very campy and it knows that and maintains that tone. Some of the dialogue is stiff and feels scripted, but I like the actors cast anyway and think they chose well when casting them. It's a decent indie campy comedy horror flick!

yes, its rating is very surprising.
thehomevick11 February 2020
I was excited for this. it sounded different and i've been into the comedy horror genre as of late after seeing a few good ones (satanic panic, life after beth, happy death day). and it started out pretty good.

"how about we just slap you on the kitchen counter and aim you at the vitamix?" lol, that was great.

if it would have kept on with that kind of wit it could have been something special. but rather it elects to go the mayhem-y .. noisy .. screechy .. hyper .. not in the least bit creepy or horror-y route. i was gonna say, "well, PG-13, ya know..." and then i was going to point out that happy death day pulled it off .. but apparently the movie did get an R? HOPEFULLY, that's an error, because that would be sad if they were fine with taking an R and kept on making it in such a juvenile manner.
