Gintoki and Takasugi remember when they were boys with Shoyo while they fight a duel.

Oboro intervenes in the battle between Gintoki and Takasugi. Meanwhile, it's an unexpected person that is waiting for Shinpachi and his company who escaped from the jaws of death.

Shigeshige makes plans for his country's future, and leaves with a promise to see his friends again.

The war is over. Everyone is in the depths of despair. Kondou talks over a cup of sake with Gintoki in Shinsengumi headquarters, and then he appears at Mimawarigumi to be on death penalty.

Hijikata has been feeling very depressed after Shinsengumi was dissolved. Kozenigata takes him and Gintoki to the bar where Tae works. Unfortunately, Nobunobu comes while they are drinking in the bar.

Kondou meets Katsura again in prison. Katsura proposes that Shinsengumi joins hands with his Joi party, and fight together to change this country.

Shinsengumi under Hijikata and Katsura's Joi party head to Kokujo island where Kondou and Katsura have been captured.

Yorozuya with Tae and Shinsengumi and Katsura's Joi party arrived together at Kokujo island. They start Kondou and Katsura rescue operation.

All thoughts are entangled in the fierce battle. The Shinsengumi's and the Mimawarigumi's pasts are revealed while Isaburo lets out his true intentions.

Isaburo continues his plan of rebellion while the alliance retreats from the island. However, things come to a head, as death itself descends upon the battlefield.

While everyone fights to regroup and escape, Isaburo reaches an epiphany.

Now wanted fugitives, the Shinsengumi say their goodbyes to their friends in Edo.

The Lake Toya Hermit persuades Gintoki to learn secret techniques because he thinks the anime is going to end soon.
