    Funny

Like many other sitcom actors who have a raunchy side when they do stand-up, Lopez delivers. He is angry, in-your-face, and very very Hispanic. The material comes from his life and seems un-edited. He slips in and out of Spanish so the words may be difficult to follow, but his non-verbal behavior and the many sounds he makes clearly communicate. This is a very R rating.

Lopez gets a long overdue HBO Special...

After several years of working on his sitcom, comedian George Lopez was finally allowed to return to his stand-up roots with his first HBO Special, GEORGE LOPEZ: AMERICA'S Mexican. Lopez also sticks close to his own roots here, never allowing the live audience he's playing to or us to forget his heritage. Admittedly, there was a portion of things he says in this special in Spanish that I didn't understand, but when he's speaking English, Lopez is hysterically funny. I loved his piece about how kids today couldn't have survived the way he grew up. It's so easy to forget how spoiled kids today are but Lopez reminds us in a most hysterical way. Lopez also offers on target jabs at Arnold Schwarzenegger, elder care, and of course President Bush. I love when he talks about post Katrina clean up in New Orleans and says that it was handled by FEMA, which means "Find Every Mexican Available". A laugh-out loud comedy special guaranteed to tickle the funny bone.

    • Trivia
In this televised special, it is the first time George Lopez spoke out publicly about CHiPs (1977) star Erik Estrada snubbing him in his own neighborhood and throughout the years, Lopez has constantly publicly criticized Estrada for it, calling him an egomaniac who is rude and cruel to his fans. Furthermore, Lopez swore never to do that to his fans.

However, in 2010, George Lopez was accused of being extremely rude to a fan and refusing to take a picture with her. The fan turned out to be a Mexican radio show personality and she took the incident to live radio:

Mexican radio show personality, La Vozalona (Marlene Quinto), as part of the Mexican radio show, "El Show de Don Cheto", said that she had met George Lopez at a Cuban restaurant in which she was eating with a friend and when she saw that he had finished eating and seemed on his way out, she approached him near the exit of the restaurant while he was taking a picture with a fan and told him that she wanted a picture with him, to which she said he became very rude and disrespectful and told her she had to wait and that "even Mexicans have manners and say please". Confused, La Vozalona said she told Lopez she was a big fan and one of his many followers on Twitter, to which she said that he told her to shut up and take the picture already. La Vozalona said she told Lopez to stop being rude, because she could "burn" him and that he responded, "What, you think I care?".

This was very surprising for many and many considered Lopez a big hypocrite for the incident, considering he's been criticizing and ridiculing Erik Estrada for many years for not shaking his hand and refusing to sign an autograph when Lopez was 17, while Estrada filmed an episode of CHiPs near Lopez's neighborhood.

What's more, Lopez still badmouths Estrada. Even up until 2015, he told the Huffington Post about Estrada, "I'll fuck that motherfucker up" and in the same year, during an interview with BJPENN.COM Radio, he told the interviewer, "I'm going to fuck Erik Estrada up".
