In Cycle 8, after the "Nude Candy-Coated" shoot, contestant Cassandra Watson had to go to the emergency room because she had developed frostbite on her hand, as a result of holding a large scoop of ice cream for the shoot.
In Cycle 8, Brittany Hatch's makeover consisted of having her short brown hair dyed red and have long wavy red weave tracks sown in. On the day of her makeover, they dyed Hatch's hair seven times to get it to match the hair weave. The chemicals from the numerous treatments of hair dye left her scalp raw and blistered. Despite this, they still braided her hair and sewed the tracks on her wounded scalp. As the scabs started to heal (with the weave still on her head) it irritated her skin and induced tremendous pain for Hatch. After four weeks, the damaged weave was removed.
