Good bones, bad execution

If it weren't for the plot synopsis, which should have been labeled with a spoiler alert, I'd have had no idea what was happening. This is one of those rare films that should have been longer, so it could drop some clues about wtf was going on. Or, drop/shorten some of the MANY nightclub scenes. But, it's obviously one of those quota films 1950s studios had to do.

Hard to believe that such bad acting and bad directing and bad writing could end up coincidentally in the same film. Good thing it only lasted an hour.

Lynn and Carroll Steam the Screen

Lots of great big band and piano music make this romance interesting. The kisses seem real; the chemistry is there. The plot, like all good plots, doesn't smother the lovers, but keeps them apart which ups the ante. Will he get her back? It is 1954, so the odds are?

I waited a little much for this film I first thought was a noir movie. Instead, it's a real sleeper. I won't repeat the topic told in the plot line above. The first sequence, with a music band in five minutes long and seem an hour. This kind of film is not unusual; there are plenty of them. But I am through with them. I was glad when this one was finished. I don't know the director, nor the actors. When you are a film buff like me, you have to deal with this. That's the name of the game.

But it's a rare feature, and maybe most of the film chasers would agree to watch it.

Why not?
