Twenty years after the fan-favorite Disney Renaissance film debuted in 1997, legendary composer Alan Menken revealed that he was working on a stage adaptation of "Hercules," the tale of a young man on his road to becoming a hero and finding out where he belongs in the world. Reunited with lyricist David Zippel, the Disney Legend created a number of all-new songs to compliment a book by Kristoffer Diaz and Robert Horn for the latest musical from the House of Mouse.
A few years later in 2019, the production made its world premiere at the Delacorte Theater in New York City's Central Park with a stellar cast that featured Jelani Alladin, who originated the role of Kristoff on stage in "Frozen," as Hercules, Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart of "Aladdin" on Broadway as Phil, star of NBC's "Smash" Krysta Rodriguez as Meg, and, instead of revisiting the character that he...

When Nintendo introduced gamers to the Switch, early commercials painted the system as a highly mobile gaming platform as well as a home console. That is mostly true, but reality rarely measures up to the idealism of commercials. If you’re looking to maximize the Switch’s potential, you’ll need to make the most out of the console’s settings.
You can easily use the Switch straight out of the box with the standard settings, and you will probably enjoy the results. But what if we said you can get even more out of the console by changing a few settings? Some of these options can extend your Switch’s battery life, speed up download speeds, and even fix some potentially serious system errors. Turns out the Switch is hiding more than just a few secret features.

On October 23rd, 2011, Once Upon A Time premiered on ABC. It was a show about fairytale characters/Disney properties and what happens when they end up in our world. The show lasted for seven years, boasted one spin-off and an active fanbase.
It's been ten years since Emma Swan blew out a candle on a cupcake and made a wish that changed her life, and much like with Revenge and Hart of Dixie, I wanted to mark the occasion.
TV Fanatic staff writers Laura Nowak, Becca Newton, former staff writer Sarah Little, and I discussed what we loved about the show, what we hated, what we shipped, and how we fangirl now that it's all over.
What made you watch Once Upon A Time going in? What expectations did you have of the show? Do you feel the show met those expectations?
Sarah: I started watching Once Upon a Time...

The Electronic Entertainment Expo might not have taken place in the Los Angeles Convention Center this year, but the biggest gaming industry event of the year still had plenty to offer during its first all-virtual event.
E3 2021 kicked off June 12 and featured a variety of gaming news from the industry’s highest-profile studios and indie developers alike. The event marked the first E3 since 2019 and though it was less of a genuine industry convention and more of a collection of prerecorded marketing videos, the quantity of announcements still made E3 2021 a must-see event for gaming fans. E3 will be back in full force next year: Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti announced during the beginning of the 2021 event that E3 will return to the Los Angeles Convention Center in 2022.

In 2011, the Tribeca Film Festival’s unprecedented decision to include a video game as part of the official selection may have seemed like nothing more than a glorified bit of cross-promotion between a for-profit festival and an elite publisher with a very expensive new blockbuster to sell. A detective mystery in the tradition of classic movies like “The Maltese Falcon” and “The Big Sleep,” Rockstar Games’ “L.A. Noire” certainly seemed like a natural way of bridging the gap between two different mediums that have been on a collision course for a long time — according to Rockstar’s Dan Houser, Tribeca felt that it “was something new and different that would appeal to fans of cinematic storytelling” — but the choice also reflected the patronizing idea that video games should aspire to be interactive films.
In the years that followed, however, it gradually became clear that Tribeca had a more expansive...

The final major event of 2020’s gaming calendar is due to kick off next week and it’s looking likely that the occasion will be playing host to several big announcements.
Hosted once again by Geoff Keighley, The Game Awards will celebrate some of the best titles released over the last 12 months and recognize their achievements in a number of different categories, including the ultimate accolade: Game of the Year. Competing for that coveted prize will be Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Hades and The Last of Us Part II, and it goes without saying that we’ll be watching with bated breath to see who takes home the gong.
Perhaps even more exciting than the above, though, is the usual deluge of world premiere trailers debuted at the ceremony. Previous years have seen major titles such as Mortal Kombat 11 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice officially announced...

Hades, the newest roguelike action RPG from Supergiant Games, has cracked the code on how to make a great roguelike game.
“You don’t actually play as Hades in Hades. Instead, you play as Zagreus, the god of the underworld’s son. Zagreus wants to escape Hell, but his progress is stopped by supernatural foes, creatures of myth, and the like. If he dies by their hand, Zagreus is promptly sent back to the house of Hades, resetting his progress.”

It’s the spookiest month of the year! Check out these bizarre Halloween-related lawsuits to start your October.
“For most people, Halloween is a time to be someone other than themselves and enjoy a party atmosphere. But occasionally, those relaxed inhibitions can result in legal trouble. Take a look at several strange cases involving costume malfunctions, collapsing pumpkins, and other spooky court filings.”

Sylvester Stallone is no stranger to churning out sequels having played Rocky Balboa eight times as well as headlining six Rambo movies and three Expendables, and that’s without even mentioning his appearances in follow-ups to franchises he wasn’t originally involved in like Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
One of his lesser-known endeavors though is the Escape Plan series, with a lot of people probably unaware that the 2013 original would go on to spawn two direct-to-video sequels. Despite the action icon admitting that 2018’s second installment Hades was the worst movie he’s ever been a part of, which is a damning indictment from someone with 34 Razzie nominations under their belt, he still went ahead and made third entry The Extractors the very next year.

A relatively uneventful weekend at the box-office saw Tina Fey and Steve Carell's mistaken-identity comedy Date Night in a too-close-to-call battle for first place with Clash of the Titans, which had the expected big drop its second week out. Date Night is Fey's second attempt to open a film (or at least to contribute), and her pairing with Carell turned out to be stronger than her pairing with Amy Poehler for Baby Mama two years ago. The movie was never going to be an "event," and $27 million is perfectly respectable; along with Cheaper by the Dozen, it is director Shawn Levy's best outing outside the Night at the Museum franchise.
The weekend was the beginning of a relative lull that will last until May 7th, when Iron Man 2 kicks off the summer season. The only other movies to roll out were the Christian family film Letters to God,...

It's a photo finish weekend based on studio estimates: Date Night came in at $27.1 million, while Clash of the Titans was just $225,000 behind with $26.9 million, and How to Train Your Dragon was still in the mix with $25.4 million. With sizable showings from three movies, overall business was on the high end for mid-April, albeit down a touch from the same period last year. Each day of the weekend could end up having a different No. 1 movie: Date Night led Friday with $9.3 million, Clash of the Titans topped Saturday with $11.2 million, and, if studio projections pan out, How to Train Your Dragon capped Sunday with $7.8 million. Date Night's Friday performance has given it an edge for the weekend as a whole, but Clash could still pull this out because Date's Sunday projection was relatively more bullish than Clash's. As close as the two movies were, there have been closer photo finishes in the past.

Date Night was the top choice on date night, attracting an estimated $9.3 million on approximately 4,600 screens at 3,374 locations. That's a bigger opening day than The Bounty Hunter's $7.6 million last month and well above par amongst similar past titles. The comedy was the only major new nationwide release on Friday. Clash of the Titans fell 68 percent to an estimated $8.4 million, but remains in contention for the weekend top spot. 300's second Friday decline was 64 percent, but was down 54 percent for the weekend as a whole. Clash has tallied $92 million in eight days. Also in the mix, How to Train Your Dragon saw the smallest dip among nationwide releases, off 36 percent to an estimated $7.1 million. It has tallied $115.6 million in 15 days. The Last Song held better than Hannah Montana The Movie did at the same point, down 50 percent to an estimated $3.6 million for a $36 million total in ten days. Tyler Perry...

There's something endearingly quaint and old-fashioned about the new indie horror flick The Black Waters of Echo's Pond. There's also something painfully familiar and frequently amateurish about it as well, so those things sort of cancel one another out. But if you're interested in seeing (yet another) horror flick with a plot (and several actors) you've seen before, then I suppose this scrappy low-budgeter could work, provided you've a high tolerance for ripe performances, overlong (and over-lit) conversations, and (finally) a handful of creepy / gory / sloppy dispatches. We open with a flashback that tells us the following: the Pagan god Pan resides within a recently-unearthed ... board game of some...

Wow, is The Black Waters of Echo's Pond really Open Graves 2? Open Graves was just reviewed here today with a very similar plot. A group of young adults get together to play a board game that leads to their death. This is the plot exactly for Open Graves and for The Black Waters, which might make one think of simultaneous discovery. The present times create similar cultural discoveries like malicious board games. However, The Black Waters is not exactly like Open Graves, as the game only awakens the darkest emotions in each of the players. What happens next? Well, you will have to check out the trailer for the film below and if interested visit theatres playing The Black Waters April 9th. An Open Graves review is below that.
