finally after a dragged on season 4 the makers managed to give The OC a satisfying ending...even though the earthquake occurring in new port beach din make much of a sense initially....the following episodes did once again remind me of how beautiful The OC was in the beginning(season 1 nd 2). season 4 had become kind of weird with characters like Che being introduced unnecessarily...but once more the last episode pulled it off brilliantly by throwing light on all characters and reminding us of what they actually were as they had lost their uniqueness for which they are so popular,...just wish the final season 4 cud have been better but kudos to the makers for a great episode that tied up all the loose ends and gave the viewers a treat, a boon of an episode as a season finale!!!
Spent the last 3 months watching the series. Didn't watch it when it aired. The 10 minutes I was crying like a baby! What a great ending!
The ending was good not great. I think that they should have been given at least a season longer so that the last 10 minutes of the last episode didn't seem so cluttered. Oh and i think the icing would have been Ryan giving that little kid a ride in his car and it ending with an acoustic version of phantom planet- California...What do ya think?
As for Taylor not being a suit for Ryan i have to disagree i thought she fitted in well, she could never replace Marissa but she did a good job.
However i do agree about the whole Che being introduced a bit pointless, great actor pointless character.

I just binged this series. I unfortunately did not watch it when it aired (which was when I was actually in high school myself lol) but I am definitely glad that I have now. I think this last season in general was so fun compared to the others. It's darker at times, but also quirckier. The finale wraps up amazingly with a fitting and happy ending for all the characters! I loved it and it unexpectedly made me cry happy tears and that does not happen too often lol!

The ending is perfect. It would have been so great to see this all happen in another season but for an ending, it was perfect that way. That we got to see everything happen that we hoped for in the end. Watching it still always makes me cry again and again. I love this show. One of the very best ever.

I really liked this finale even more thin comedy fan. The way they wrapped everything up was almost perfect. I did feel like it left me wondering about some of the main players. Will, Homer, AJ and how is Jimmy's yacht selling buisness going? Its understandable that they had to leave a few thing out with the show getting cancelled earlier than expected. Its sad to see it go but at least there are still fans out there keeping it alive with awsome podcasts.

I am aware the show got cancelled and they wanted to wrap it up, but why in the name of God did they open up a thousand new conflicts? Ryan and Taylor, Seth and Summer, Julie and Frank, all of them are all of a sudden estranged for whatever reason. All of them had satisfying character arcs until this point and now they start to have new ones that they have to hastily resolve within one final episode. And don't even get me started on their characterisation. Summer telling Julie she felt a little too comfortable in her relationship with Seth with Julie replying: "I wouldn't know" doesn't make any sense. She was married to Jimmy for what? 15 years? And she got very comfortable towards the end of their marriage, not even wanting to hear about his problems. This episode was written by the shows creator and honestly it has jarring parallels to the ending of game of thrones. Character don't act like themselves all of a sudden, rushed ending, unnecessary conflict, all written by the same people who started the show. I still love the overall show and as a teenager I watched it several times, but for reasons I now completely understand, I couldn't remember the ending. There were so many memorable moments throughout the show that I was eagerly awaiting but this episode I hardly remember. Apparently it is just extremely forgettable and doesn't seem connected to the rest of the show. Like a dream that doesn't make sense which makes it hard to remember it after you wake up. I can live with this ending, but it could have been a lot better.

Too much crammed into this one. Clearly they tried to make up for being cancelled by condensing everything into this short space. It doesn't really work, but I won't complain too much.
Everybody's on about the boy at the end. Much ado about that. While the memory of Marissa wasn't properly presented in the Fourth Season. Come on, people, THE O.C. without Marissa Cooper would have been like cornflakes without the milk. I am glad there was that final tribute to her, the locket, and the drive-past scene (that one got me, I mean, tears!!)... But the most unsatisfactory thing about Season Four was that too little was shown about Ryan grieving the loss of Marissa.
Then again, it's dumb Ryan, shucks, episode after episode I began belittling him, good thing it ended, I developed zero tolerance for that cold bore, what with his every-day-at-the- barber short short hair and his obvious lack of affection for cute if crazy Taylor.
I have mixed emotions of the show.
Mischa Barton, the best. Willa Holland, very, very good. Autumn Reeser, unexpected, did her very best, had tough competition's memory to live up to, amazingly succeeded.
As for Sandy and Kirsten, they truly are worthy of being ranked as famous lovers. They made a most wonderful Mom and Dad. They were THE TV couple. No, they were THE film couple. They made marriage romantic. That one's coming from RavenGlamDVDCollector, it is some compliment.
Seth and Summer, Captain Oats and Princess Sparkle. There were moments.
A very, very special mention to Melinda Clarke. From the beginning, I said something like "I'm glad that they didn't make her a cardboard character." And then she landed up in a trailer park and in-between all the trailer trash jokes (that guy who cooked pigeons) she found her humanity and the producers saw how good M.C. was at comedy and the rest is history. Of course her early years on THE O.C. was a practice run for Amanda, her later incarnation in NIKITA, but that's another story. Suffice to say, her shares rose with me every episode.
The one I will really miss: super-cute Willa Holland. Oh, big sigh. What a find she was! Lived up to being Marissa Cooper's sister. Worthy, super-worthy.
The final word: Marissa should not have been written out of THE O.C. It should have been Marissa + Kaitlin + Taylor in the final season.
