Although these episodes aired in 1997, it was made in 1996 according to the credits.
Val Halen's goat William was named after the term "billy goat", but was based on Tangrisnir and Tanngnjostr, the goats that pull Thor's chariot in Norse mythology.
When William Goat comes to save Krunk, Major Glory cries "Billy, don't be a hero!" This was the name of a 1970s song by Paper Lace.
Val Halen's transformation has him raising his enchanted axe and calling out "I have the power!" This was taken from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1983), where Prince Adam of Eternia would change into He-Man by raising his sword and shouting the same thing.
Referring to his babysitter, Dexter says, "I'm going to blind her with science." This is a reference to the song Thomas Dolby: She Blinded Me with Science (1982).
During Babysitter Blues Lisa calls Jeff 'fuzzy lumpkins' which is the same name as the Powerpuff Girls villain.
