Sex & Nudity

  • Most of the (sexual content) is in the unrated verison. Although there are a few references to trafficking and sex slavery but nothing is ever shown in the threatical verison.
  • No sex or nudity in the theatrical verison.
  • We see a man in a room with one young woman kissing the back of her neck.
  • A man talks to a trafficked victim, asking how much she charges and what the fee includes.
  • Many young women are dressed in a bikini and a top when shown briefly.

Violence & Gore

  • A teenage girl is accidentally shot in the chest by a man that was shooting at another man. The scene is brief but there is some blood splatter. (Unrated version)
  • During a fight scene one man stabs another man in the chest with a knife and cuts another man on the arm, some blood is shown. (Unrated Version).
  • A man kills another man by throwing him off a building we can hear the sound of his bones snapping. (Unrated Version)
  • A man hits another man by smashing his skull with a fire extinguisher. (Unrated Version)
  • A man kills another man by placing him in a choke-hold and snapping his neck. The sound of his bones being broken is heard. (Unrated Version)
  • Another man by sticking a blade in his arm and then kicking the hilt driving the blade into the man's arm. (Unrated Version).
  • A man is strapped into a chair, and a nail is then stabbed into each thigh. Liam Neeson then straps electrical cables to the nails and tortures the victim for information. Several jolts of electricity are sent through the cables and the man yells and twitches; the switch is flipped one last time and the man is left to die (we hear him screaming).
  • A man shoots a innocent woman in the arm, she falls off her chair.
  • A man shoots another man in the leg and the arm and then shoots him dead (we see blood).
  • A man shoots another man, and then strikes him and the man falls to the floor motionless.
  • There's a large-scale shootout on a ferry and we see bullet holes opening in walls and furnishings. Bryan shoots a man in the leg several times.
  • There's a fight and a man who escaped then smashes a fire extinguisher over another man's head and stomach, and shoots another man with his own gun.
  • A man jumps off a bridge and onto a moving boat below, he kicks and punches another one and throws him overboard.
  • A man shoves a young man into a taxi, punches him repeatedly in the ribs, another man pulls the man out and he lands hard on the ground; they fight briefly and one man's head is slammed into the car knocking him unconscious.
  • There's a brutal fight inside a ferry between two men, who fight with punches and kicks. One man pulls a knife, they continue fighting, one man strikes the other with a bottle and knocks him out.
  • A man fights several men: (there's blood on wounds and shirts) after the impact.
  • There's a brutal fight in a small shack in which a man fights with several men punching and kicking them, but he is shot at by several men as he speeds away in a car and there's a large explosion and fire.
  • A man holds a gun on another man, pushes him into an elevator and punches him (he falls unconscious).
  • A man in a car chases a young man through traffic, and the young man jumps from an overpass onto the road and almost gets hit by a huge truck.
  • A man with a knife lunges at a woman, another man fights him off with punches and kicks and the man and woman drive away in a car.
  • Cars with men shooting guns chase another man in another car: one car is pushed over a hill and rolls over, another one is flipped, and another car drives into a bulldozer shovel that cuts the top of the car off.
  • A young woman hiding under a bed is pulled out by her feet by another man, and we hear her screaming and we hear glass breaking as she is taken away.
  • Note: Most of the violence is in the un-rated verison while the normal release still has violence but not as brutal as the other cut.

Profanity

  • No f words in the PG-13 cut or the Unrated Cut.
  • 6 uses of 'shit', 4 uses of 'ass' (3 used as 'asshole'), 3 uses of 'hell', 1 use of 'damn' (paired with "God"), and 2 uses of 'piss'.

  • We hear about a trafficking overdose on people who have died on drugs.
  • We see in two scenes people with scarred arms by injections.

  • Three men carrying beer arrive at another man's house.
  • Several men sit at a table with beer bottles.
  • A man puts a cigarette in his mouth but does not light it.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Theatrical version contains violence, and a scene of shocking in a chair. The Unrated Version contains graphic violence, including an extended torture scene.
  • The unrated cut is a lot more violent and intense compared to the PG-13 cut. With a lot more on-screen violence, with a lot more of the human trafficking side to the story explored.
  • Extremely gritty, intense, and disturbing content throughout.
  • There is a theme of kidnapping and trafficking. This can be unsettling or disturbing for some viewers.
  • One of the most violent PG-13 movies of all time.
  • We see two young women being kidnapped by several men.
