There are kind of movies that put you to sleep. There are kind of movies that cause headache. But this is a mixture of both. You get a splitting headache in the first half. You go out and have an aspirin in the interval and come back expecting at least something and end up sleeping until the end. The narration begins with the prodigy( don't expect much from this guy) wishing and willing to become a gangster since childhood. He steps forward later to become indeed a gangster. Wont his parent ever bother about his well being . It is never ever referenced except once in the whole movie. What the director really want s to portray is not understood. Such a piece of stupid crap this is.
If the love story was a bit more sensible the movie would have been a blockbuster.
What is best gangster movie in India? surely those are not which inspired from Godfather etc,. This is the true Indian gangster cinema.Awards rest in peace.
Pros
Ram, his performance is really good and he brings each emotion needed for scenes.
Story-Screenplay-Direction by Sukumar, this movie has the usual Sukumar's mark of equations, detailing, title animations, etc. He sticks to the story, and he directs it in a way which engages us, and connects us to the tone.
Songs and BGM, DSP brings out great songs including, Violence is A Fashion, Five Feet Eight, 36-24-36, Rock your Body. BGM shows intensity and darkness or style when needed.
Climax and pre-climax, the two scenes are really emotional and frightening.
Moral, for a gangester film we don't expect a moral, but this has a good moral for how not to attract youth to violence, because there is an animalistic side in every human.
Cons
The love story, it is unnecessary to story, as it ruins the tone, and if not, underwritten.

Jagadam is one of those movies that stand out to be different. Unlike other movies, this film actually has a story and a powerful message conveyed to the youth. Sure, the movie may be a rip-off of City of God, but what the heck? I was surprised that this movie was a flop. The only thing that worked against the movie was the stupid Central Board of Film Certification. They ordered 33 cuts from the movie and on top of that, they gave the film an 'A' certificate. If the movie had that many cuts, of course it wouldn't be as good as it just ruins the flow of the movie. Also , the CBFC changed the song "Violence is a fashion" to "Jagadam is a fashion" and the name SANIA MIRZA got edited out of the song "5 feet 8 inches". For a regular cinegoer, this wouldn't be a film they would like, but if u like critically acclaimed films, then go for it!
