An interesting episode about overcoming deception, one of many... Warning: Spoilers
This was the first of many episodes in which deception and the way to reveal it are the nucleus of the story. In this case, the Thundercats meet the character of Pumm-ra, who says he is a Thunderian and seems to have saved Cheetara from the Mutants. At the beginning they all seem to like him and Cheetara even seems to be a little attracted to this pretended Thunderian. Nevertheless the Thundercats decide not to act too impulsively and resist to the idea of making Pumm-ra one of their group too soon.

Along the whole series of the Thundercats we can appreciate how they are nurtured in their stories both of mythological, biblical and historical sources and also, modern psychology. In this episode we can appreciate both with many references to Egyptian culture and a rich debate in the council concerning the possible inclusion of Pumm-ra in their group. It is interesting too, that even when Lion-O is the Lord of the Thundercats and the sword bearer, Jaga had chosen Tygra, to be the leader of the council.

This will be the first of many episodes in which Mumm-ra will use his sorcery to disguise himself as a good person, sometimes an ally (like in this episode) and sometimes a guy (or even a little girl) in need in order to trick the Thundercats and the whole episode is dedicated to discover the deceit.

Maybe the most interesting way of seeing at these episodes is pretending that we ignore the identity of these characters ourselves and examine the evidence (that normally is very circumstantial) along with the Thundercats. It is noteworthy of this series how it emphasizes how many apparently innocent characters probe to be malignant under a slightly closer look.

Thanks for reading.
