- Screaming Hawk: is not for sale. It has been a plague on the land for centuries. A curse from an angry god.
- Les: I know they got a bunch of guns down at the police station.
- Screaming Hawk: Guns? You cannot kill Unteka in flesh. One must kill him from within.
- Les: Right. How exactly does one "kill him from within?"
- Screaming Hawk: One must not fear the heart of the snake.
- Les: Don't fear the heart of the snake. All right. What the hell does that mean?
- Screaming Hawk: As much as it needs flesh and blood, it needs fear. It strengthens. It gives it power. It is the body he eats, but it is the fear he devours.
- Les: Come on. That's just a bunch of mystical mumbo-jumbo.
- Erin: May be. But it makes sense. Think how snakes hunt? through smells, vibrations and heat. When your body reacts to fear, it gives off signals that would attract a snake.
- Screaming Hawk: Only when you are without fear can you kill the snake's heart. One cannot kill Unteka in flesh. One must kill him from within
- Les: OK. So you're saying that your ancestors actually went inside the snake?
- Screaming Hawk: [Nods in affirmative]
- Les: All right. You're out of your mind. Let's get out of here.
- Erin: No. Wait. It makes complete sense. Snakes use venomous fangs and constriction to subdue their prey. To keep it from running away before they can swallow it. Now, if you don't run, if you don't fear the snake, it can swallow you whole.
- Les: And then you could kill it from within?
