Somewhat standard but very cute with good lessons

I loved My Little Pony as a child, and as a 20-year old I have started re-visiting various childhood favourites and any recent incarnations. A Very Pony Place is not quite as good as Princess Promenade, but it is one of the better direct-to-video/DVD efforts that isn't the original series/movies/specials. The animation is very nice especially in the colours, the scoring has an appealing whimsy and the songs are memorable enough and catchy(even if none of them are among the best songs I have ever made). The writing is not too corny or sickly sweet, instead manages to be sweet and lively, the morals are good, especially the dreams are often better left as dreams and while standard fare the three stories are cute and engaging, with the second story being the best one. The characters while not exactly unique in personality are still likable, and the voice talent is enthusiastic. All in all, cute with good lessons. 9/10 Bethany Cox
