The Good Wife brings back one of Lockhart Gardner's most memorable clients tonight and Eli (Alan Cumming) makes a big move on behalf of Peter (Chris Noth). Warning light spoilers ahead.
The former client is Colin Sweeney (guest star Dylan Baker) who has something that the firm needs to win their current case. Sweeney appeared twice in season 1; he successfully beat one murder charge in criminal and civil court, whilst later succumbing to another (managing to get the sentence knocked down from 45 years to 8 instead). Sweeney was such a stand out character due to his ability to creep both Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and the viewer out with his sociopathic reasoning and manipulative skills. Dylan Baker's representation of this character made him both repulsive and appealing and this strong performance also earned him a well deserved Emmy nomination. Will he be just as brilliant and creepy third time round?
Why do they need Sweeney's testimony?...

Faced with the job of a lifetime, Will chose to continue doing what he loves on "Feeding the Rat." The only questions for viewers, following a stage-setting episode of The Good Wife, was this:
Is he talking about work... or Alicia?
It was almost comical to hear Will and Alicia agree that she's a "no fuss, no muss" kind of woman. For two-plus seasons, the Alicia Florrick we've known is all fuss, entirely muss. She analyzes every situation. She wonders if she's a good enough wife, or mother or attorney. She's never entirely sure about the path she's on.
Yes, Alicia is trying to be the laid back gal who is eager to get it on with her boss in his private bathroom these days, but it's a struggle. A new haircut doesn't automatically equate to a new attitude, although it has led to a much funnier Alicia. Loved the...

This week on The Good Wife, Lockhart/Gardner got serious about the economic situation. First, it decided to stop its pro bono relationship with the local legal aid agency. Diane also realized that having a bankruptcy division was a smart idea during a recession and asked Will to convince Celeste and her co-workers to come to Lockhart/Gardner when their firm breaks up.
Alicia's case of the week was a pro bono one (started before the firm decided to break ties with Legal Aid) that involved a witness to a robbery/murder who became a suspect. Fortunately, Kalinda managed to pinpoint the real suspect.
In the end, Celeste told Will that she was going to start her own firm and Diane's conscience made her want to bring the legal aid in-house because they were losing their funding. Meanwhile, Eli wants Alicia and Kalinda to work with him full-time, although the...

Not unlike his former co-star Lisa Edelstein, House‘s Peter Jacobson (aka Dr. Taub) is dropping by CBS’ The Good Wife this fall. Might the two cross paths in the courtroom?
Unfortunately, they will not. Jacobson will appear in Good Wife‘s Season 3 premiere (airing Sunday, Sept. 25 sans Edelstein), where his character will be involved in the trial of a Muslim student accused of murdering his Jewish classmate.
In other Good Wife news, Vulture blog reports that Broadway star Bill Heck has been cast as the “much younger Legal Aid” — and potential love interest! — to Christine Baranski’s Diane.
