Fox News needs a better approach to comedy
Tonkanator1519 October 2007
This show was canceled after 16 episodes, and rightfully so. After watching Fox News's answer to the "Daily Show" and "Colbert Report" for a few seconds, you instantly get the feeling that the show comes off as a little too....... fake.

Lets start with its production values, to be more specific, the laugh track. My god, it is an abomination of television. The show's content was not funny enough to film in front of a live studio audience, so they took the route of the midnight infomercial. The laugh track is the most comedic part of the show and the reason why I watched every episode, it fades in and out very fast and the volume of the laughter varies every joke.

Secondly, the "comedy" presented in the show and the message the producers were trying to get across never once strayed from conservatism. "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" have had success, largely due to the criticism of the political process as a whole, not just one side of the spectrum. The ways the "1/2 Hour News Hour" presented itself were not only extremely bias, but left its American viewers feeling more divided at the end of the day. Every show followed the same format, they attempted to make jokes about liberal people, organizations, and politics. They would then go on to have actors portray liberals as guests on the show, often dumb, drug users, "artsy", and Hollywood types. My biggest concern was, where were the real guests? The two Comedy Central Shows have them on every night, real guests, both liberal and conservative, with real answers to questions directed at them. Giving the other side a chance to answer is fair, and informative, and leaves viewers with a feeling that they actually just watched the news. Fox News, however, felt that it would be more effective to paint a picture of a liberal and argue with that instead, leaving the viewer with an eerie feeling as if you watching propaganda and knew it.

In the end, this show got what was coming to it. There are still talks about reworking it to have it back on the air, but regardless of whether it does or not, season 1 will go down in the history books as one of the bigger flops in cable television history.

A Sad Travesty
bohicaa12 June 2007
Not much more to add to those already rating this show poorly. The laugh track is about the most pathetic one I have ever heard. The timing is poor and the writing is worse. I guess we can be grateful that it is only a half hour and not the hour it might have been. Also, how is it that a News Channel has a "Comedy" show?

I can't believe that some here have compared this to SNL; it doesn't even come in 50th behind it. Saturday Night Live, at its very worst, never aired a Weekend Update that was so unerringly bad.

This show seems to be a hit piece at The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. While both those shows are decidedly slanted, they take shots at both liberals as well as conservatives. TDS and TCR have great timing and great talent in both delivery and writing.

If this show would get a live audience, make comedy more important than a political agenda (they could even keep 2/3s of the political agenda), hire comedians and writers that are in the upper 40% of their respective fields then this show might have a shot at being entertaining.

Thank God it's only 1/2 an hour!
kapop6923 July 2007
This show is so awfully amateurish it is agonizingly uncomfortable to watch. What's worse is the overzealous audience who hoot and holler at jokes that are more ideologically pointed than funny. The director compounds this forced laughter and applause during the shows credits when the audience tries applaud and cheer for 2-3 minutes.

I feel sorry for the "actors." I know I have seen a couple in other shows on Comedy Central and in TV commercials. They are really hitting rock bottom with this turkey. The worst example of this is Dennnis Miller, whose rapid-fire, arcane references are so beyond the ken of the audience that the timing of their laughter is not in sync with his not-so-funny and very bitter punch lines. What is it with conservativism and comedy? Miller used to be a hoot when his observations weren't such blatant attempts to attack one side of the political spectrum.

Like Miller, the conservatives who write for this show are so consumed with trying to score political points against the left that they miss being funny by a long shot. One skit had "God" smiting secular humanist authors (to quote O'Reilly) and the audience not only laughed but cheered as each met their fate. Now who wouldn't find that funny? Good Christian humor, huh? I suppose the kool-aid drinking Fox News die-hards will force themselves to laugh and keep watching but it won't last long. I've watched three episodes and even on a good night this show is worse than a high school comedy routine.

As Lewis Black observed, "If this is supposed to be a 'fake' news show on Fox News, shouldn't it be a real news show?"

To those faithful acolytes of all things Fox, keep trying to laugh while you cringe inside.

Oh Jesus this is bad, I just threw up in my mouth.
oregonjon18 February 2007
I'm assuming that this is the debut episode of The Half Hour News hour, airing at 10 PM on Sunday, February 18th and it is awful. The "comedians" hosting it are to Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert what Colt 45 is to Dom Perignon. The jokes, if you want to call them that, are all followed by a terrible laugh track that would embarrass the worst of the 1980s sitcoms. It really isn't an issue for me that its slanted so far right, but it also seems to be slanted towards idiots who laugh at anything, or those who are partially lobotomized. The jokes are terribly unfunny, and if they put this up against Colbert or Stewart, I don't see it lasting that long. Comedy Central's newsy-ish shows may be tilted slightly to the left, but they do make fun of everyone, not just liberals, Democrats, the ACLU, and revolutionary historical figures. Avoid this show if you can, but I don't think you'll have to worry for long anyway. You might like this show if you meet two out of three of the following: 1. You dislike homosexuals. 2. You believe that global warming is hoax made up by liberal elitist "so-called" scientist. 3. You're still holding out for those WMDs in Iraq.

Politics aside....It's just not funny
kingdomemariner5 March 2007
Everything in this show is done on the cheap; the casting of two people who between them have no noticeable success in entertainment, the horrible writing, the campy laugh track, and the guest appearances. Regardless of if you are from the right, middle or left, funny is funny, and this is NOT FUNNY. A right wing comedy could work if the writers could write and the actors act, this show can do neither. BO Magazine? Ed Bagley Jr (has he been in anything in the last 10 years? he is the biggest liberal they could mock?) Condoms in New York (I gotcha condom right her pal?) It is a show of Right-Wing talking points masked with a laugh track. This does not make it funny. If you find this show funny, you may like other "greats" like Two and a Half Men, Yes Dear, and According to Jim. All of these are train wrecks, but none rise to the level of the 1/2 Hour News Hour.

Way Too Much Like A Bad Weekend Update...
landress11 March 2007
I'm basing this after just two episodes, so it could get better. Actually, it'd almost be impossible for it to get worse. The premise *could* work. The country is polarized enough that, basically, a right-wing only show could develop a niche. But for that to work, I'd have to think it would need to be better than this.

Quite frankly, I'm not sure the two anchor format works for this type of show. The feel of it is trying to be a Jimmy Fallon/Tina Fey exchange from Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live. Only, the exchanges were really forced. The set seems inappropriate for the show, looking much more like a local access news show than that of a national show. The laugh track takes even more away from the show, making it look even more like a local access show.

As I said, potentially this show could develop an audience and develop. However, based off the first two episodes, it has a lot of work to do. This success or failure of this show won't have as much to do with left/right, right/wrong, Republican/Democrat, but rather whether or not it simply becomes a better quality product.

Awful, just plain awful
mokona720 May 2007
First off, I don't really see the logic in placing this on Fox News to begin with. The Daily Show and Colbert Report are on Comedy Central, a network intended for humorous, entertaining broadcasts. Fox News is meant to be part of the news media. Stewart/Colbert comparisons aside, this show is poorly executed. Most of it isn't even funny. It's propaganda with a laugh track. Jabs at Rosie O'Donnel, Jack Murtha, and Nancy Pelosi are followed, not by an original joke, but by quotes of said figures and others followed by canned audience laughter. The show frequent attacks the ACLU viciously without so much as even a joke ANYWHERE in the segment. But for some reason, there is still laughter and applause following it. Without the laughter artificially inserted, this show would simply be Hannity's America. Oh, and did somebody say "OJ Simpson? He murders people!" Ha, this show is sooooo current in its comedy. Overall, it's a crying shame that this show is still on the air. It shouldn't matter what ideology a comedy show leans towards. What matters is funny writers, well-timed delivery, and a producer other than the one who does 24. 1/2 Hour News Hour is none of the above.

Painful to watch
duch30413 May 2007
I thought this was beyond awful. There are some truly(intentionally) funny Cons out there, but none are associated with this show. I mean Dennis Miller, a frequent FauxNewsChannel guest was amazing on SNL's Weekend Update. While I didn't expect him to appear on the show, it seems like he would have been a far better choice to develop/create/ consult on a show of this nature that a wrong wing idealogical hack, who is responsible for 24, the show which glorifies torture, & the propaganda piece on 9/11 that aired on ABC last year. Penn, of Penn &Teller, is also a Con(Libertarian, actually).HE could have consulted on this & added real humor, even if it was skewed to the wrong side.Colin Quinn, also an SNL Weekend Update alum, is also a Con(if you saw his show that ran on Comedy Central, you;d know this). Danny Bonaduce showed his Con side in his ad libs on his recent GSN show.Even Rupert Murdock is funny.

ANYONE with even an ounce of humor would have made this work, even to a devout Liberal, such as myself, if only it thought about what was really funny. I laugh at Miller & Quinn all the time, despite the fact that I disagree with nearly everything they say. I do so because they are actually funny, unlike this show. Duchess

wow that was bad
cenestrad4 March 2007
Well the only good thing to say about this horrid show is that it will be certainly be short lived. The "jokes" are truly unlike anything I have ever seen on television before in that they have absolutely no bias towards humor. Also it makes you wonder how Fox News will be able to continue to claim to be fair and balanced after laying this egg. Unlike the Daily Show it was meant to mimic the HHNH makes no attempt at throwing jabs at both sides of the political spectrum. The show leans so far right it's a wonder it doesn't fall over (that was a bad joke, but it is far funnier than anything you'll see on the HHNH). On the other hand it should be fun to watch Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh continue to pretend that this stinker is funny.

WTF were they thinking?
DashTheGreat24 August 2007
WTF were the people that made Half Hour News Hour thinking? This is probably one of the worst parody / satire programs I have ever seen. Though it is hard to do, this may have been even worse than Saturday Night Live. Talk about attempting to get off the ground, and then smacking your face on the pavement. Not to mention the fact that Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh were on this god forsaken piece of crap. Not to mention what a disappointment this is coming from some of the writers of 24. First off, every joke used was either absolutely lame, or was probably stolen from somewhere. For example, they made Barrack Obama magazine "BO." Could anybody over the age of 5 even laugh at that? I also have to laugh at the fact that this show claimed to go after the Liberal media, yet failed so dearly. That was the main problem I had with Half Hour News Hour. It didn't serve any niche or purpose. It was just there to 'counteract' other shows, which it even openly admitted in advertising. This is the true definition of a bomb.

Not funny.

acupuncturebalancing23 June 2021
These 'comedy' shows on Fox are a pathetic attempt to emulate the success of intelligent political commentary found on the Daily Show, Late Night with Stephen Colbert, etc. They are somewhat hilariously and unintentionally terrible, so worth a glance just to see how little conservatives grasp humor.

Hilarious Program Destined To Be A Classic
Andresen26 February 2007
The 1/2 Hour News Hour is a refreshing change from the politically correct bash-the-right dreck that passes for political satire these days. Sure the other shows "make fun of both sides". Like, "isn't it funny that some Democrats are moderately oversexed while all Republicans are pure evil hate-mongers who want to destroy all life in the universe?" Sure, the other shows poke fun at the media. Like "can you believe that 100% of news stories failed to mention today that George W. Bush is a dangerous religious zealot who wants to enslave your family for the benefit of Halliburton?" In contrast, the takes on The 1/2 Hour News Hour are fresh. They are funny. And they skewer the notion that those other shows have all the bases covered. If Stewart and Colbert already have this political satire thing all sewn up, why are the jokes on THHNH completely different than anything else that has ever appeared in the history of television? Oh, and please keep referring to The Right Wing News as your definitive, authoritative, one-stop source for Entertainment critiques. It certainly deflates the notion that people who dislike THHNH are prone to selectively pick and choose information which conforms to their preconceived, close-minded, conformist viewpoints about the world, from which no person dare deviate.

Winning political satire
rgoodden24 March 2007
The 1/2 Hour News Hour serves up a funny roasting of news events and personalities from an absolutely unique viewpoint -- the conservative side of the political spectrum. And it does so with at least as much result as its over-rated competitors on the political left (The Daily Show, etc.). But then, there is so much about the political left to ridicule, and such a dearth of comedy programs doing it! Besides fast-paced skits the show features its own gag commercials that manage to clobber with humor everything from Hollywood's intellectual pretensions to the ACLU's innate inability to recognize its own comic potential. The original episodes aired on Fox News Channel won the sweepstakes for viewers in their cable time slots.

It's a spoof show of a news show spoof
ironlich-582127 February 2020
This show is meant to be in the same vein of The Daily Show but is lacking on a few fronts. The easy review is that the show really isn't funny. This would be an overall facile assessment of the show as a whole.

First of all, the show is set up with two hosts. This creates the need for each host to tee up jokes and play off of the other. They didn't really have the chemistry in order to do this the way The SNL cast does on those fleeting moments when they actually end up making a hit sketch. Instead the tee offs are rigid and scripted and it shows in the joke delivery. This interplay could have been developed, but with only several hours of screen time that type of rapport has not developed. Unfortunately in that type of show business, you need to hit the ground running. Especially on Fox, where shows are often given only a half season to show their strengths.

Next is the writing. They must have known that the show want going draw out the laughs from a studio audience and decided to laugh track it instead. There are jokes told that just really aren't funny, but do succeed in being ironic. There are other jokes, that with proper delivery would have provoked an audible laugh from an audience. But in the eight or nine episodes that I watched, I actually laughed perhaps four times. Some of the jokes take too much internal context that by the time you work out why it was a joke, the punch of it has been reduced. Most of the rest are just very simple jokes based on political tropes, yet less masterfully done than John Stewart (and some of this is due to the back and forth dynamic breaking up the tempo of delivery).

Then, just in case you aren't certain that it is a legitimate spoof of another news spoof show (in case you thought it was a knockoff SNL news sketch) they bring in Dennis Miller for his special brand of pointing out something inane and tying it in to a little known, vaguely related (if that) reference and pretending to be high-brow about it. Cobbling these different styles together breaks up any tempo that may have been built and creates an incongruous comedic situation; those who would find the standard part of the show funny probably fail to 'get' the jokes from Miller and those who appreciate Miller's humor likely consider the rest of the show merely grasping for low hanging fruit.

TLDR: the show suffered from the market forces of not being appealing to any demographic by being a comedy show devoid of humor. It was a true testament to the Libertarian experiment.

1/2 Hour Concept is One that Will Work!!!
YeeeHaw8311 March 2007
Whether you think this show is funny or not right now is not important. It's not important simply because no matter what our political differences are with each other and this show it's going to have an audience. The simple reason for that is that there is nothing like it out there and it's on Fox News. Fox News could seriously make a TV show about a turd and it would receive good ratings. They're just that strong because everyone that identifies themselves as either Conservative or Traditional feels as if they're not getting a fair shake everywhere else. Doesn't matter if that's the case because thats what they feel and that is why they're die hard Fox News supporters.

The concept of a Conservative Satire Show is a new one and one that will work with time. From the message boards you can see people saying every bad thing they can about this show, most of them from the left. Even with being a Conservative I'll admit that the show isn't up to par with The Daily Show. However, the two episodes aired are simply pilots with very little financial and talent backing. Now that the show has been picked up for the season we should expect an increasingly better product. If we don't, guess what... The Fox News audience will watch anyways, therefore the concept is one that WILL WORK!!!

A Weekend Update rip off that's only half as funny
krazykorean4-110 March 2007
When I saw the advertisement for this on the FNC, I thought it was kinda funny.

This show might offend the following:

Illiegal Aliens Space Aliens Liberals People that voted for Liberals

That was kinda funny. Sadly, the show only goes so far beyond that. The episode I'm watching right now had Rush Limbaugh as the president and Ann Coulter as the VP. They weren't born to be funny. They tried too hard to be funny. And they weren't that funny. The actual show is a little better. The anchors are merely OK. The material is that of Weekend Update, and the classic SNL skit is ten times as better.

But, truth be told, there is a little treasure to be found in the trash. Some of the stuff is actually quite funny. When I say it was a rip off of Weekend Update, and it is, it almost duplicates it, and the humor in it too. Yeah, sometimes I look at it and say "That's not funny" but other times I laugh out loud. The laugh track certainly doesn't help, however. It sounds like there isn't a live audience, because the people laugh with the same volume at every single joke, which doesn't happen in sitcoms, where there is an actual live audience.

This show might go for a few more seasons. The writers aren't bad, but The 1/2 Hour News Hour (clever title by the way) is still a ways away from being anything worth watching more than a few times.

An Open Letter to JOEL SURNOW
marysrob115 May 2007
Dear Mr. Surnow:

I want to say hearty "thank you" for your hard work on "24" and other great television programs. It is nice to have shows that are not beholden to liberal dogma and are also on the cutting edge of entertainment. It's simply the best action show I have ever seen.

However, I have seen your new show "The 1/2 Hour News Hour" and I was disappointed in the product, and yet it has great potential to excel as all your other shows have. I beg you to consider my suggestions to the show:

1) The writing you oversee on the show is at times just plain crude. I cannot let my wife, children or myself watch this show because I don't want to be exposed to that sort of thing. Conservatives want clean fun. Not the gutter.

2) Crudeness is NOT FUNNY. Saturday Night Live (SNL) has been at its funniest when they engage in sharp satire, not in sick inappropriate humor. It takes little ingenuity for a filthy mouth to spew filth, but with a little effort and thought you can produce something truly funny. The SNL Harriet Myers skit a couple of years ago comes to mind, also the entire SNL William Shatner episode was also totally hilarious - yet clean. I no longer watch SNL today because it is just too crude and inappropriate.

3) Conservatives do not need to lower themselves to the liberals standards of decency, which is the very bottom of the barrel. "Conserving" the moral fabric of America is part of what we believe. Lets not mimic liberals modus operandi. After all those who like that kind of humor will still laugh at clean jokes if its sharp humor.

4) Having a CLEAN, conservative, satirical news show is something that would draw many people to watch - we conservatives want a SNL that's clean and willing to make fun of liberal icons. Remember your target audience.

Thank you for your consideration.

Feel free to e-mail me if you desire.

Robert H.

Edmond, OK

It's funny, like a lot of things
One_who_knocks23 February 2007
It's funny how people on the left cannot enjoy humor that lampoons them. I watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report and think they're hilarious. I know full well that neither Stewart or Colbert are in my corner, but they are funny - even when what they do slams me or my views. Y'all on the left need to learn how to lighten up. It's obviously bad for your health if you're verping.

On to the review. I didn't really notice the laugh track as being overbearing. Hmmm, the credits shows an audience warm-up guy. Could it be that actual live human beings were laughing at the jokes? I was laughing. They were laughing. Obviously some people find the jokes funny. So basically it may not be your kind of humor. Find the remote, there you go, now change the channel.

The two co-hosts are okay; they're not on the same level as Stewart/Colbert, but they'll do. It's the first show. Give them a chance to find their groove. I hope this doesn't get canceled, it's only going to get better.

While no TW3*, the show gives Conservatives chance to do the Ribbing!
redryan6420 May 2007
Okay you Liberals, it's our turn! How's it feel?

It wasn't too long ago that if one were to be a Political Conservative, he would be looked at as some extreme square who has no social life or other interaction with the opposite sex. He would be considered the type who considered the School Debating Team as an athletic endeavor, a contact sport, even. He was the guy that the Libs all figured went home and read himself to sleep with The Congressional Record! All of this as well as being pigeon holed as being racist, sexist, elitist, religiously bigoted and hateful of the 'lower' classes. They would never have a political spoof comedy show!

I can well remember a station break announcement on our local CBS TV Affiliate, WBBM, Channel 2 in Chicago. After all of these years, and this was 1964, the year of the Presidential Election. Incumbent Lyndon B. Johnson (Democrat)handily defeated the Republican Standard Bearer, Senator Barry M. Goldwater of Arizona. The outcome was a Landslide for Johnson, but in the time leading up to the election the above mentioned Channel 2 message was typical of the Liberally Biased Press. It went like this (almost verbatim from my memory):

"Hear Extreme, Ultra Right Conservative, (NAME HERE) defend Goldwater's position tonight on AT RANDOM."** Now, this is a totally loaded statement, which even little old 18 year me could tell. In the period from then to about 15 or 20 years, people like Joe Pine or Wally George were frequently identified as "Conservative Spokesmen."

Then we got to the years of Ronald Reagan and the Politics of Reality. All of a sudden, Joe Sixpacks and Barney Bungalows across the nation realized that they are better off with a smaller, less intrusive Government. Also, we have had lower tax rates (yet more money collected by the Feds? How come?)***

Now then, about FOX NEWS and The 1/2 HOUR NEWS HOUR.

I think it is a funny show. It is about on Parr with Saturday NIGHT LIVE's Week End Update segment. It is apt to bring a little laugh. It generally supplies one with some chuckles, not wild, knee slapping, belly-shaking,uncontrollable laughter. For the most part it's a half hour well worth tuning in to.

The FOX News Network prides itself with their motto:

"We report you decide!"

They are faithful as far as the REPORTING goes. Their Editorial slant is admittedly Conservative and they'd be the first to say so. They are also very generous in giving left wing pundits plenty of air time to defend liberal positions.Remember, reporting should take no sides in a controversy. Commentery is just that, namely it's OPINION!!

Recently I heard the news that there were more viewers who were Liberals and Democrats watching FOX News than the admittedly Liberal slanted CNN. I suppose that means that there are more Libs and Dems tuning in to this 1/2 Hour. So?

So, The 1/2 Hour News Hour will continue its run (There have only been the first 2 Pilot Episodes that have shown so far.). We know that they will be slanted in the Conservative Right way of view. So, there are and will be more satirical items aimed at the Liberals then our side (yeah, I'm one of 'em!).We have had to listen to all these years and to take it!

Now it's your turn Mr. & Ms Lib./Commie/Pinko/Atheist/Elitist/Secular Humanist/Yippie/Abotionist/Kicker of Small Children and Dogs! Remember, it's all in good fun! So if you think that you're hearing more barbs aimed at you, you'd be right. C'mon 'n grow up! Get over it! Can't you take a joke? Grow up, already!

* TW3 was short hand for the 1964 David Frost production of the NBC TV Network's satirical current topical THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS,which was based on a BBC series and was a multi personality, albeit short lived, extravaganza. (look it up elsewhere in IMDb!)

** AT RANDOM was the title of Sun-Times'Columnist, Irv Kupcinet's late night Saturday Talk fest. Guests from culled from the worlds of Politics, Entertainment and Sports (who were in Chicago at the time). Later, when Kupcinet took his show to WNBQ Channel 5 as KUP's SHOW, the powers that be at WBBM continued AT RANDOM with their own John Madigan(Father of Actress, Amy Madigan, by the way). I believe that both shows may have been syndicated at one time.

*** Okay, even a Shanty Irishman like meself can understand this if explained properly. When the tax rate is cut,in addition to the individual tax payer's keeping more of their own money, more capital (money) is left in the pool for business to expand and improve. Suddenly, employees are getting the chance at OVERTIME!(time and a half!) Next thing, the company is hiring! That means that tax monies will be coming from greater salaries and a greater number of workers being taxed. Add to this, more and greater number of federal taxes collected on stock sales, imports, exports, etc. HENCE the Businessmen's Companies Grow, both the States' and Fedreal Coffers get fat and the Consumers' Dollar$ go much further with a much higher rate of Employment and More & Greater $allatie$! Now, everybody should be happy! (That is except, of course for certain types of Politicians who rely on human misery in order to stay in office!)Ya dig?

This show is hilarious
babcl10 March 2007
Most of this show is laugh out loud funny. Who cares if there is a laugh track, it just makes the show funnier. It is good to have a comedy to watch where the main joke is not the President. Thanks to good ratings, it now has a full season to entertain.

It's great the the actors are not easily recognizable. It gives the show the 'local news' type of feel. And, unlike an earlier reviewer, I found the "BO magazine" skit to be fall down funny. I'll bet even Mr. Obama laughed.

American television has too long been run by those with a liberal mindset. It's good to see the other side, and I'll keep watching.

Good Show
mub2321 February 2007
Great Show For those who love comedy but are sick and tired of liberal Hollywood slamming anyone who thinks conservatively. This show makes fun of everyone from Hillary to Obama to the ACLU, and even Bush. Unlike the Daily Show and Colbert Report who only make fun of the Right, this show makes fun of everything that is wrong with this country, including both liberals and republicans. There were some really great laugh-out-loud moments on the show. I love being able to laugh at political humor without constantly having to listen to Jon Stewart call me an idiot. The comedians were pretty funny with good writing with the exception of one over-the-top segment. The sketches making fun of of the ACLU are absolutely hilarious and dead on shedding light on the fact that the ACLU and its leaders use "civil liberties" to protect some of the most heinous and disgusting people in this great country.

A nice needling of celebrity "causes". Satirical look and political discussions.

Fun and good for few laughs- Very comparable to The Daily Show and The Colbert Reprot
theVHSrocks13 May 2007
This is a mildly entertaining fake news that's fun and good for a nice number of laughs, especially if you already are very familiar with the news. Unlike perhaps the Daily Show or Colbert Report, an above average knowing of the news events and things they talk about is probably much more of a requirement towards getting all of the humor, as there are many references that you need to have deeper familiarity with the news and punditry to catch. In fact, this show will probably appeal most to those, who are already fans of Fox News because a lot of it's content reflects items that already are made points on the channel.

In terms of how good it is, I'd say 1/3 of the jokes are good, 1/3 of the jokes are okay-mediocre, and 1/3 of the jokes are bad. Okay, I admit, the comedy is slightly worse than that found on the Daily Show and Colbert Report but really not by much. So, it's a fun show, so if you want to see a yes, right-wing fake show, I recommend this one.

Top 10 Questions Liberals Don't Want To Answer
ETAe13 March 2007
This show is awesome! And made by the producers of "24" too. Btw, it's sort of like "South Park" in a way, without the profanity and grotesque junk. You know, politically incorrect and sarcastic of pansy "mainstream" liberals who think everyone thinks like them. Love it! I have some ideas for the show. Just give me props if you use 'em, guys!

TOP 10 QUESTIONS LIBERALS DON'T WANT TO ANSWER

(1) If humans came from apes, why do apes still exist? (2) Do most liberals drive gas-powered cars? (3) Does "global warming" occur in cold weather? (4) The 9/11 terrorist hijackers adhered to what religion? (5) How many Democrats are in media and entertainment? (6) Is it true some liberal actors promised to leave the United States if George W. Bush got elected and re-elected? (7) Do American atheists purchase items with dollar bills that say "In God We Trust" on them? (8) Can two homosexuals physically produce children after having sexual "intercourse"? (9) Does the Associated Press use the terms "pro-choice" instead of pro-abortion and "anti-abortion" instead of pro-life? (10) Is it possible an aborted child could have become a genius if he or she had the chance to live?

Fantastic Show
tdmlundy1 September 2007
The segments of each show come from recent news items and historical records (ACLU skits based on their court cases come to mind.) Each segment takes a position normally found in reporting from ABC, CBS (sorry to hear Katie Couric is auditioning for Al Jazeera, she should have done the Limbaugh interview and kept her CBS anchor job), NBC, MSNBC, CNN, the LA Times, New York Times, Washington Post ... Insert your "objective" unregistered lobbyist for the Democratic Party "news" source here. The writers then show the holes in these "objective" reports and to the applause of the live audience provide constructive counter point and humor. I'm disappointed to see those who enjoy the drive-by truth deniers can't laugh at themselves. Next time read the disclaimer at the beginning of each show. You can switch to the Cartoon Network until the real fake news is over.
