Guadalajara, Mexico -- Los-Angeles based sales agency Figa Films has sold Mexico rights to indie distributor Macondo Cine for the Brazilian feature "I Travel Because I Have To, I Come Back Because I Love You."
Co-directed and penned by Brazilian helmers Marcelo Gomes ("Movies, Aspirin and Vultures") and Karim Ainouz, "I Travel" revolves around a geologist exploring possible routes for a water canal in a remote region of Northeast Brazil.
Macondo picked up the film for theatrical, DVD and television release in Mexico. The deal was closed at the 25th edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival.
Additionally, Figa has acquired Yulene Olaizola's award-winning documentary "Shakespeare and Victor Hugo's Intimacies" for non-theatrical release in North America.
Among other notable titles in the Figa Films catalog are the Chilean feature "South Desert" and the Brazilian drama "Alice's House," which ran for six months in the U.S.
