- Extremely dark and unsettling tone throughout. The series deals with themes of domestic abuse, illness, child murder, drugs.
- The first season's main antagonist is a controlling, angry, and narcissistic man who psychologically and physically abuses his wife and son. He is also a budding serial killer and sex offender who is attracted to teen girls. Almost every scene with him is unsettling and intense.
- The main character frequently has nightmares which are shown as disjointed and fragmented images which are often creepy, sometimes gory.

- In season 3, a man bludgeons his wife to death in the woods. He later attempts to remove her wedding ring but it gets stuck so he chews off her finger to slide it off. Very explicit and disturbing.
- In season 3, the bodies of two teen boys are found skinned with their flesh draped over hydro wires. Very unexpected, shocking, and grisly.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The opening scene features a serial killer picnicking in the woods with two teenage girls he lured there. He watches them dance seductively and then viciously beats them to death with a large rock. Another man is shown to be watching with interest from afar. VERY disturbing and creepy.
