Ozzie was a stoner

Warning: Spoilers
I submit this episode in support of my assertion above.

To wit, Ozzie enjoys, in his own words, a "fine dinner" followed by a late night snack of cherry ice cream, served in what appears to be a family sized salad bowl. In the middle of the night, Ozzie and his pal Darby chow down a couple of burgers with all the trimmings (the condiments are visible on the kitchen counter). Before dawn, Ozzie and Darby have finally scored the holy grail of 1950's ice cream flavors, TuttiFrutti..and their cones look about as big as lampshades.

I rest my case.

Pepto Bismol missed out on a natural sponsorship opportunity here, but one unanswered question comes to mind watching this particular adventure: Why didn't Ozzie look like Fatty Arbuckle?

Food For Thought

Have you ever had such a strong yen for some food item that you couldn't stand it? You just had to go out, no matter how inconveniencing, and get that item? You had to eat it NOW! Well, if you have, this episode will be one you'll relate to, and have fun watching.

Ricky sees an article in the newspaper about a little boy who was lost and was being taken care of at the police station. They showed a picture of him with a big tutti-fruiti ice cream cone. Harriet recalls eating that ice cream and mentions a few great parlors in which they served it with big portions. Oh, boy, does that have Ozzie and Rick thinking....but Oz says he's watching his diet so he shrugs it off.

However, that night he dreams of being at an ice cream parlor years ago with a his young wife. That scene is fantastic, not just funny but a good example of showing off Harriet's singing skills. She sings a song with "The Four Preps." Anyone remember that group? They sing a song that will bring a smile to your face.....guaranteed. Ozzie's not smiling moments later when David, who is serving the Nelson's their ice cream, takes it back because Ozzie has no money. He wakes up from the dream very unhappy and frustrated. Now, he HAS to have some tutti-fruiti ice, even though it's midnight.

The rest of this are the adventures of Ozzie and his neighbor Darby who wind up searching all over town for the ice cream. This is a very funny episode; one of the best in the long- running series. I can see why they included it in the recently-released "Best Of The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet" DVD.
