House says, "He's no Terri Schiavo," referring to his vegetative patient. Terri Schiavo was a woman who went into a vegetative state in 1990 following cardiac arrest and spent the next 15 years being kept alive by a feeding tube through federal government intervention, even though her ex-husband wanted to pull the plug. Her parents and brother were all for keeping her alive. Her feeding tube was removed in 2005, and she died.
A proper procedure when someone has a seizure is to make sure the person is safe. You should never restrain them unless necessary, like being in danger of falling off something and injuring themselves from the fall. However, if you must control them, do so as gently as possible because a person can shake so violently that their bones can be broken if restrained too tightly. You should never stick your fingers in someone's mouth during a seizure because they could bite you; they will not swallow their tongue. Furthermore, make sure there is nothing in the area the person can collide with and injure themselves or knock something down from above that could land on them and hurt them and stay calm, make sure they're breathing and call 911 or whatever emergency number for your area.
