Great episode, except for the recurring villain
errepinna10 April 2023
This episode puts House, Willson and a patient all together in a small space where they are force to ask themselves questions. I loved that! They actual patient was barely present.

However, the investigation plot is disgusting. It's like this low-tier cop is looking for a way to get suspended with pay. He's been sneaking into the hospital in the past two episodes just to harass the staff and make ominous claims. He interrogates people without a lawyer being present.

All of this while an obvious conflict of interest is present. This whole deal should is just annoying to watch. Everytime it's brought back I can't help but to roll my eyes in disgust. I hope it goes away soon. House doesn't need an enemy. He needs puzzles.

Father's Famous Last Words
iefbr14-116 November 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Dying father Gabe (John Larroquette) wants to leave a last message with House for his son and asks House, "what would you want to most hear from your father?" House replies, "That you were right." This answer puzzles the father and did me too, until House explains. I awoke yesterday morning and the first thing I realized while regaining consciousness was that these were the last words Darth Vader spoke to his son, Luke. Probably a leftover from the Star Wars marathon I had been watching on Cinemax. The context of both quotes weren't exactly parallel, but it gave me pause to wonder if David Shore wasn't having a little joke.

Road trip!
kellielulu4 August 2022
I love the road trip with House , Wilson and Gabe . That it's so watchable it's a tribute to the three actors as I detest the Tritter arc. The interaction between them is a rare treat. How House wanted to be a doctor over research. We learn things at the most unexpected moments!

It's also interesting that only Foreman isn't intimidated by Tritter other than House.

Nothing but praise and why so many haters?
berthathenakedrn17 July 2023
I liked this episode of house that I rewatched on a rainy Sunday this past week.

John LaRoquette is a gem and his presence proves his mastery of drama comedy and pathos on the little screen.

This was more of a teleplay than episodic tv.. The dialogues and character development within the confines of 42 minutes of episode tv were well done.

As for the haters and the ethicists and the wanna be doctors: House is about the day to day activities of a Doctor who is an addict and a misanthrope who is given more or less free reign to do as he pleases in a hospital because he is a good diagnostician - a savant who is good at only one thing. How real or ethical is that?

Its television ,people: entertainment, escapism. No different than Batman, or Gilligan's island.

Somehow, a detective harassed three physicians
polite-4569230 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Somehow, a detective harassed three physicians inside the hospital without any lawyer or hospital administrator being present.

Worse is the harassment of Wilson.

It somehow has escaped being emphasized that Cuddy was made aware of the detective's complaint against House, thus exposing the conflict of interest.

Sub par

Warning: Spoilers
SON OF COMA GUY is probably the weakest HOUSE episode I have seen to date. In order to treat a comatose patient, House awakens the comatose patient's comatose dad (John Laroquette) to learn more about the family. This neat trick, first used in AWAKENINGS, plays out in similar fashion here. House and the dad and a very reluctant Wilson end up going on a road trip to Atlantic City. Laroquette is one of those actors who blows extremely hot or cold, depending on the role and director. Here, he blows icy, and is just not very interesting as a dad who has awakened from a 10-year sleep. Also, for all the philosophical yammering that goes on, not much of anything is accomplished by having awakened dear old dad. We sit around a hotel room with the three men, arguing over a hoagie and House's love life; in the end, no one eats the hoagie and House's love life doesn't change a whit. The ending is so preposterous and inexplicable, I was tempted to turn it off. Well, as House has previously proved, you can't win them all. Cuddy and the House trio are wasted. Evil cop David Morse is still causing trouble.

Doctors make the patient commit suicide
alhussainalidarar7 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The worst episode I've watched so far... The events are not convincing at all... There are exaggerations, including the investigation of the policeman who suspended Dr. Wilson's account... Also the message from the suicide father to his son that House delivered is not understandable... What he actually denounced is the help of two of Doctors to a sick person to commit suicide... on the pretext of donating his heart.... This is absolutely not acceptable... and the father's flight to Atlantic City is unjustified.... I am very upset about this episode that made me write a review for the first time.

The Worst House Episode period
ammoh2817 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I typically don't write reviews, but given the fact I'm bored at this moment and annoyed with watching this episode, I decided to write a review while this crappy episode plays on.

My beef with this episode isn't really on House or any of main characters, as always they do an amazing job carrying the show forward. Even the "bad guy" cop played by David Morse is a welcomed addition to the drama surrounding this season. What made this episode so shallow and feel like a waste was a combination of poor directing, writing and acting for the character "Gabriel Wozniak" played by John Larroquette.

The episode started off great, up until the moment where they awaken the Dad from his 10 year coma. This is where I lost immediate interest in the episode, for starters you don't awaken from a coma, staring into a room of unknown people and not ask where you are, and what the date is, his first remark is I'm hungry and he then immediately starts making request for a sandwich. Secondly, who awakens from a coma completely clean shaved, while no beard of any kind grew during his 10 year slumber, and lets not talk about muscle atrophy barely happening after 10 years, highly unlikely. Thirdly, the father (Gabriel), at this point seems to only be concerned with himself, even though his son is upstairs dying, made worse by the fact they all take a pointless road trip, that leads to none of them accomplishing anything, including getting Grabriel his sandwich, which was the whole point, it's just three men agruing about things that are barely related. You have 1 day to live again and you waste it in such a selfish manner, not even seeing your son that's dying. It's not until the end where the father decides to sacrifice himself to save the son.

The acting by John Larroquette felt well below sub par, it didn't feel genuine or even semi- realistic. This was a poorly made episode with the only highlight being a cameo made by John Larroquette, that wasn't even worth the performance. He's always been a great actor back in the days but here he is just terrible. From the moment of his appreance, the quality of the show went straight down hill.
