Bob Camp's first credited directing job on the series, for "In the Army". He had previously directed season 1's "Black Hole" but was left uncredited.
The first episode animated by Rough Draft. The Korean studio would animate many episodes for the rest of the series.
"In the Army" is the first instance of a Raymond Scott piece being used; in this case, "The Toy Trumpet".
"Powdered Toastman" received criticism for its ending, where Powdered Toastman, now president, burns the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights in a fireplace. Said one viewer: "I was so repulsed, I couldn't calm down. (...) I was outraged when I saw that program. I want that cartoon pulled from the air because it has no social value whatsoever." When the short was rerun in 1993, this gag was removed.
Both segments of this episode are banned on Paramount+. The powdered toast man segment is banned for its religious imagery.
