‘Phineas and Ferb’ Stars Reveal Season 5’s One Subtle Change at Red Carpet Premiere
Image
When “Phineas and Ferb” returns for a new season Thursday on Disney Channel and next day on Disney+, it’ll have been just shy of a decade since the Season 4 finale aired back in June 2015.

And while “Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe” debuted on Disney+ in August 2020, the team behind the Emmy-winning animated series told TheWrap at Saturday’s premiere just how touching it was to see the cartoon remain relevant in pop culture despite 10 years off the air.

“I’m so grateful, I feel like fans have always been such a big part of our success and that’s not unnoticed,” Ashley Tisdale said. “I love that they make trending sounds on TikTok of Candace and Phineas and Ferb. Literally, they got us here today.”

“It’s something I discovered during the pandemic when I got onto TikTok. There’s a whole group of people still talking about the show,...

Phineas And Ferb's Biggest Doofenshmirtz Theory & Potential Linda Reunion Addressed By Star
Image
Phineas and Ferb star Caroline Rhea has addressed the show's biggest Dr. Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire) theory and his potential reunion with Linda. With Phineas and Ferb season 5 set to continue the series on Disney+, the show has a chance to continue exploring ideas that were established prior to its revival. This includes how the title characters' mother, Linda (Rhea), previously dated Doofenshmirtz, becoming his inspiration for taking over the Tri-State Area. While their relationship didn't progress far, his triangle-shaped head led to theories that he is Phineas' (Vincent Martella) real father, something Povenmire, who's also the series' co-creator, denies.

Speaking with ScreenRant, Rhea addressed the theory that Doofenshmirtz is actually Phineas' real dad in Phineas and Ferb, finding the theory humorous but implausible. The voice actor also teased how interesting it would be to see the pair reunite, although it's unclear how they'd react to seeing each other. She also...

Phineas and Ferb Season 5 Review — Long-Awaited Comeback Seizes the Summer With Imagination
Image
To say I was excited for the new season of Phineas and Ferb would be a massive understatement. Like many in my generation, Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh’s Disney Channel juggernaut was a cornerstone of my formative years, and its lovable characters, ingenious creativity, and infectiously catchy music still hold up to this day. So, learning it was coming back left me ecstatic in a way that defies easy metaphors.

And while Phineas and Ferb themselves haven’t been completely absent from our TV screens in the decade since the original series finale, namely in the Candace Against The Universe movie in 2020 as well as the Milo Murphy’s Law crossover the year prior, the return of the original series still feels significant and raises questions as to whether or not even the original creators and cast could live up to the legendary original run. For now, I...

‘Phineas and Ferb’ Returns: Creators Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh Share What to Expect, Guest Stars and a First Look (Exclusive)
Image
In the 2008 “Phineas and Ferb” episode “Comet Kermillian,” the title characters’ older sister Candace is enjoying a day at the park when through a series of unfortunate events, a pair of squirrels wind up in her pants. As she starts convulsing hysterically, a nearby group of street musicians think she’s dancing — and they conjure up, on the spot, the catchy rap tune “S.I.M.P,/Squirrels in My Pants.”

Fifteen years later, “Squirrels in My Pants” experienced new life — on TikTok, of course. Suddenly everyone from Lizzo to MrBeast were doing their own version of “Squirrels in My Pants.” Others were creating their own takes on additional “Phineas and Ferb” classic bits like “Busted” or “There’s a Platypus Controlling Me.”

It was during the pandemic that “Phineas and Ferb” became the go-to comfort food for a Gen Z crowd that loved the show as kids and were...

Everything Coming to Hulu and Disney+ in June
Image
While the Max rebrand back to HBO Max has the streaming world in a tizzy, it’s worth remembering the significance of keeping diverse subscriptions. While “Hacks” and “The Last of Us” wrap up over on that side of your library, the Hulu and Disney bundle is essential for maximizing this summer’s offerings.

Disney+ continues to be the go-to streamer for family friendly viewing options; this month, they’ll add the official “Frozen” Broadway musical to that library, along with Marvel’s “Ironheart,” about Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) who was introduced in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

Hulu has everything you need for an “Alien” movie marathon, all to gear up for FX’s “Alien: Earth” which premieres in August. You could also do a “Mamma Mia!” marathon or “Bachelor” binge — we’re not here to judge.

Top Pick: “The Bear” Season 4 (Available on Hulu)

‘Big City Greens’ Team Reflects on 100 Episodes on Disney Channel: ‘It’s About Making People Laugh, But Also Making Them Care’
Image
This spring marks a milestone for Disney Channel’s “Big City Greens,” as the beloved animated series airs its 100th episode on linear TV on May 3 and streams on Disney+ on May 7.

Launched in 2018, the show has quietly become a cornerstone of modern family animation, blending the wholesome charm of classic sitcoms with inventive storytelling and a healthy dose of silliness.

Created by brothers Chris and Shane Houghton, “Big City Greens” follows the adventures of Cricket Green, a mischievous 10-year-old boy whose family moves from the country to the city. Inspired by the Houghtons’ own childhood in the rural town of St. Johns, Mich., the series balances slapstick antics with genuine emotion; its staying power is no accident.

“From the very beginning, we thought that this show could go 100 episodes,” says Shane Houghton. “That was the benchmark: can this idea stretch that far? And we believed it could because the...

‘Phineas and Ferb’ Starts Rap Beef With John Oliver After He Mistakenly Says It Airs on PBS (Exclusive)
Image
John Oliver probably didn’t see this coming. The “Last Week Tonight” host appeared last week on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” where host Andy Cohen asked him about his kids’ TV diet. Oliver mentioned that “Bluey” and “Phineas and Ferb” are currently in heavy rotation at his house.

“Phineas and Ferb,” he raved, was “actually genuinely funny,” with “some good jokes in that.” But both Cohen and Oliver strangely didn’t know where “Phineas” actually runs — even though it’s been a Disney Channel staple since 2008. The best that Oliver could come up with: “I don’t know… PBS?”

Ooh, those are fighting words. “Phineas and Ferb” creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh weren’t having it. So the duo and their writers — currently working on the “Phineas” revival, set to drop this summer on Disney Channel and Disney+ — are humorously clapping back.

In what hopefully is the start of a new,...

3 things to know about Phineas and Ferb season 5
Image
Phineas and Ferb are back for another summer of inventions and fun. Fans said goodbye to the beloved series in 2015 after four seasons and two movies over eight years, but excitedly, that wasn't the end of their story. Creators Jeff "Swampy" Marsh and Dan Povenmire talk highly about their show and have always hoped to revive it.

Dan Povenmire, who brings Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz to life, regularly shares Phineas and Ferb content on his social platforms. In July 2024, an emotional Povenmire reacted to watching season 5's first episode in color. Even though his co-creator, Marsh, excuses him of "crying at everything," Povenmire says the episode was "really good and can't wait for the fans to see it."

If this doesn't make you cry, then I don't know what will. Not only are they co-creators, but their characters are rivals with Marsh playing Major Francis Monogram opposite Povenmire's Dr. Henix Doofenshmirtz,...

New Trailer Drops For “Phineas and Ferb” Revival Coming To Disney+
Image
If you are Gen Z, you likely grew up with Phineas and Ferb on the Disney Channel, or you may have been the parent of a child who loved the show (and secretly also loved it.) It looks about the same, and I’m so happy it does. So often studios try to update or change things and ruin popular IP in the process.

Here is the write-up.

“Phineas and Ferb” follows the inventive stepbrothers as they tackle another 104 days of summer. Candace is more determined than ever to finally bust her little brothers, while their pet platypus, Perry, continues to lead a double life as the suave “Agent P,” whose sole mission is to thwart Dr. Doofenshmirtz from taking over the Tri-State Area.

Disney Expands Deal With BeIN Media Group to Include Disney Channel and Disney Junior Across Middle East
Image
Disney and Qatar-based powerhouse beIN Media Group have expanded their content agreement in a new partnership, giving beIN rights to Disney Channel and Disney Junior across the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.

The new deal will bring Disney Channel and Disney Junior in English and Arabic on beIN’s outlets in Mena, where Disney+ has been operating as a standalone streaming platform since June 2022.

BeIN — which is a co-owner of U.S. indie studio Miramax — operates linear satellite channels in 24 territories across Mena. Historically, its business has been driven by sports, but its scripted content offer has been steadily increasing recently. In 2022, beIN launched its Tod streaming platform, which currently commands a 4% share of the Mena streaming market thanks to a mix of premium sports and scripted content.

Why Hannah Montana Star Mitchel Musso Disappeared From Hollywood
Image
Mitchel Musso was a prolific Disney Channel star who was on one of its biggest shows, "Hannah Montana." According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of the highest-rated episodes drew in over 10 million viewers. The secret superstar sitcom was one of the few series to make it past Disney Channel's dreaded 65 episode rule because it was too popular to cancel. Musso, with his Justin Bieber-style hair swoop and earnest smile, played Oliver Oken — a sweet, outgoing kid known for his quirky catchphrase, "Fricky Fricky Fresh."

He also voiced Jeremy, the guitar-playing object of Candace's affection on the animated series "Phineas and Ferb." Musso eventually earned a starring role on the Disney Xd show "Pair of Kings," about fraternal twins who become the unexpected rulers of a tropical island kingdom. But it's been at least two years since we've heard anything about what Mitchel Musso is up to, since he...

Phineas and Ferb is easily one of the most recognizable and beloved IPs Disney made for the younger demographics. 30 Rock Cast: What Jack Donaghy, Liz Lemon, and Others Are Doing in 2025?
Image
30 Rock remains one of TV’s most beloved comedy series. It was awarded 16 Emmys in its 7-year stint at NBC. What really set the show apart was both the fast humor and the characters that fans still remember. Developed by Tina Fey and mostly inspired by her own work for Saturday Night Live as a head writer, the show depicted fictional sketches of the working environment of an NBC sketch comedy show.

Most memorable performances from the show were delivered by characters like manipulative executive Jack Donaghey played by Alec Baldwin, and Liz Lemon portrayed by Tina Fey among many others. As we enter 2025, the actors who made viewers laugh for seven seasons have followed different careers.

The 15 Best 2000s Cartoons, Ranked
Image
The 1990s were a monumental decade for animation. Plenty of kids who came of age during this time fondly remember watching classics of the medium on their television sets while Disney was in the midst of another renaissance with the likes of "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King" gracing the big screen. That quality carried over into the 2000s with plenty of series that still proved animation was something that could be enjoyed by people of all ages.

The best 2000s cartoons primarily consist of those marketed toward kids, but there are a few adult animated shows gracing this list that were for a more (im)mature mindset. The main criteria for this list is that a show needs to have had its best episodes during the years from 2000 to 2009. That means even if something debuted during the '90s or carried over into the 2010s, as long...

Every Spoof Episode Of Phineas And Ferb, Ranked
Image
Phineas and Ferb's signature brand of comedy naturally lent itself to several clever episodes that serve as standalone spoofs or parodies during its beloved four-season run. Phineas and Ferb's constant meta-humor is a staple part of the series' narrative, almost a kid-friendly version of the referential comedy largely established by The Simpsons. The cartoon which is one of Disney Channel's best sitcoms is also highly formulaic, with the same basic plot of the boys building something impossible and their sister trying to show their mother playing out in almost every episode.

The structure is expected to continue into Phineas and Ferb season 5, which will revive the show after a decade. However, especially (but not entirely) in the later seasons, the showrunners veered away from regular days of summer for episodes typically set in a separate universe with parallel characters, with a storyline obviously replicating that of another property (one...

How Phineas And Ferb Showrunners Tried To Create A Perry Replacement
Image
Phineas and Ferb is a beloved Disney Channel cartoon that, for many, is impossible to replace — yet the showrunners themselves attempted that with at least one of the fan-favorite characters. The adventures of the tech-savvy stepbrothers, creating one impossible invention after another while their teenage sister desperately tries to show their mother what they have done, are amazingly clever and engaging despite its straightforward premise and formulaic plot. Even more bizarre is the B plot of the series, which follows their pet platypus fighting an incompetent evil scientist.

Perry the Platypus (whose "platypus sounds" are provided by Dee Bradley Baker) is doubtlessly one of the most iconic cartoon characters of the 21st century, if not in all of TV history. Fans are eager to see him again in Phineas and Ferb season 5, which will revive the show. While they wait out the final stretch of a 10-year hiatus, fans might...

Disney Removes Transgender Storyline From Pixar Animated Series 'Win or Lose'
Image
The upcoming Pixar series Win or Lose has pulled an episode centered around a transgender character, the second time Disney has done this within a month. Win or Lose is set to debut in February and will follow a co-ed middle school softball team in the week leading up to their championship game, with each episode centered on the point of view of a different character, including players, parents, and the coach. However, one episode of the series will not make it to air, as Disney has made a controversial decision to remove the episode due to its subject matter.

Disney has decided to remove an episode of Win or Lose that would have centered on a transgender character, according to Deadline. While the character remains in the show, a few lines of dialogue that reference gender identity are being removed from the series. Sources told Deadline that the studio...
