In mainstream moviemaking it was used memorably by French auteur Julien Duvivier ("Tales of Manhattan") and relates structurally to Ophuls' classic "La Ronde". In modern times I even saw a B movie about a $20 bill with exactly the same format as this lame $2 bill.
