Ragnarok Rocks!
TremereGoddess6911 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok is about the dark god Loki who has been banished to modern day Japan by Odin. He then opens a detective agency. Why? You have to watch to find out! It follows along a similar trail laid down by Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura. He has a magical staff and can detect the powers of the plethora of Norse gods and certain items that crop up from time to time to cause trouble. Befriended by a crazy, slightly annoying school girl Mayura, and taken care of by dedicated servant Yamino, who isn't all that he seems. Yes, the show can be childlike at times, but soon you will be up to your ears in Norse mythology and enjoying every minute of it! Grey Ayres and Chris Patton do a wonderful job portraying Heimdall and Thor, and Monica Rial is cute as Frey's flying mechanical boar.

This is a must for any fan of cute, funny, and zany anime's!

One must be childish, or missing some brain cells

Ragnarok, Mythical detective Loki is the story of the mischief god Loki and the curse he bears whilst in the realm of humans. Sounds good doesn't it? Sadly, just because its based on Norse mythology, doesn't give this anime justice. Being a fanatic and student of Norse myth, I found this series overrated and way too... childish. Now to the review! The Good! -The graphics of this anime deserves well praise as the color and the art is very well done. The background, character design and transition is definitely top of the line and the vibrant colors match the happy attitude. Girls will love this show because its chock full of cute characters. -The music is decent, the opening and ending theme are quite nice.

The Bad! -The story tries to be serious, it really does, but due to the style of art and the characters themselves it comes out childish and sometimes rather annoying. -Worst interpretation of Norse mythology EVER. Dark entities of the underworld appear as cute school girls and annoying puppies with pretty face. Norse figures you tend to admire and revere come out as annoying, overly cutesy and very 2 dimensional. -Slow Transition of story, poor plot and filler episodes with nothing to do with the story plague the overall performance.

The UGLY - There's so many plot holes, it's worse off than swiss cheese.

So if you have nothing better to do then watch the anime. If your into cutesy cartoons and cute girls/guys then by all means watch it. But if you want a nice solid story and a good Norse interpretation like myself... you'll find yourself utterly disappointed.

The best anime created
bbrae2628 April 2008
"The Mythical Detective, Loki Ragnarok," can truly be said one of the best anime and manga that has ever been created. It is based on the Norse god of mischief, his friends and his family. Like in the real myth, Loki is an outcast because of his mischeivious ways. Banned to earth, and trapped in a body of his child version, he must collect evil auras in order to return to Asgard.

As a fan of Norse mythology, I found that Loki proved to be interesting. So what if the characters are cute and funny? If you can't understand why they look this way, you are not a true fan of anime. It is so great, I own every volume of the anime series and Manga, and I can name every episode forwards and backwards. Every one of my friends, and my family all love this anime. If you want something honestly worth watching, check out my friend Loki! Yes, you may call me a fanatic!!! ^_^
