Or you could read the Book of Mormon and judge from that. There are essentially two kinds of documentaries, informative, and rhetorical. Informative gives unbiased information, rhetorical sends the message the director wants it to send. Guess which kind this is. Documentaries are fun and sometimes great, however most of the time it is simply a platform for people to talk negatively about things they don't like and positively about things they do like. I haven't actually seen this, but in my experience, whenever it is a doc on a religion by another religion, generally isn't very open-minded. And why does everybody have to pick on the Mormons? You don't see docs on the atrocities of the Catholic Church, or the complete contradictions of a thousand "Christian" religions from the teachings of Christ from the Bible. One last question, my understanding was that Mormons use the Book of Mormon and the Bible, so why all the hoopla.
This video is a side-by-side comparison of the historical and archaeological validity of the Bible and the Book of Mormon. It's put together in a very credible, non-preachy way. It's made by the same people who did "DNA vs. The Book of Mormon" but is considerably more advanced in its overall production. It makes a compelling but dispassionate case for the Book of Mormon's utter lack of any historical content, and compares it with the substantial amount of historical and archaeological backing for the Bible's history. It's definitely sided toward the Bible as being the only reliable scripture, but they make a very good case for it. If you're at all interested in this issue, it's definitely worth a look.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints believe in both books.
The premise of the show is based in deception - that they only believe in one and disregard the other. The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Christ.
There is plenty of historical evidence, even in the way the book was written and the style of words from different groups.
But if people want to believe a backwoods kid created it all on his own so be it. But yes, the whole premise of this documentary is a lie.

Wow, this pretty much closes the case on the Book of Mormon. This video compares the Book of Mormon with the Bible...the Book of Mormon doesn't have any kind of evidence (archaeological especially) to support it, while the Bible has a lot. But even so, it's pretty much and open-and-shut case, very common sense, basic concepts, and easy to understand, although there is a LOT of information that is presented to you in a short period of time, which if I had a criticism, it would be just that--it's kind of an overload. But all this means is that you just gotta watch it a couple of times at least, to catch all the information.
What the makers of this film fail to capitalize on is that there is no contest (vs) between the Book of Mormon and The Bible. They both compliment each other as testaments of Jesus Christ and his divinity as the Son of God. Read the Book of 3rd Nephi for yourselves, pray and let God tell you. There will be no doubt.
