An unexplained impact leaves a mission to Saturn’s moon, Titan, in catastrophic danger, with Affleck and a skeleton crew struggling to keep a grip on reality
This is a very solid, if low-budget, addition to the sad-spaceman canon that already includes Interstellar, Ad Astra and Spaceman; it is also similar to Moon in the cyclical rhythms and psychological disintegration of its lonely voyager. This is astronaut John (Casey Affleck) who wakes up from hibernation at three-month intervals on his mission to Saturn’s moon, Titan, with an invariably nauseated and put-upon look that is apparently channelling paparazzi shots of his brother, Ben.
In order to reach their destination, John, his ramrod commanding officer Franks (Laurence Fishburne) and engineer Nash (Tomer Capone) must pull off a dicey slingshot manoeuvre to exploit Jupiter’s gravity. But adding to John’s homesick reveries of Zoe (Emily Beecham), the woman he left behind,...

Rocky was shot on a shoestring budget. Here’s how it rocked (Photo Credit – Amazon Prime Video)
This is a saga of grit, heart, and a seriously tight budget! Rocky raked in over $1.4B, but its rise from rags to riches is one of Hollywood’s greatest underdog stories.
In the early 70s, Sylvester Stallone was an unknown actor with a pocket full of dreams—literally! Picture this: he was so broke he almost sold his dog just to keep the lights on. “I had to try to sell my dog because it was either that or he wasn’t going to be well-fed,” he quipped. Talk about a canine crisis!
Then came a fateful night when Stallone watched Muhammad Ali duke it out with Chuck Wepner, aka “The Bayonne Bleeder.” Inspired by an underdog holding his own, he thought, “If this isn’t a metaphor for life!” Suddenly, he dashed home,...

NASA could have used Interstellar’s accurate Black Hole (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Here’s where things get wild. Remember that insane scene where our heroes circle the black hole, Gargantua? Yeah, that wasn’t just sci-fi fluff. With Thorne’s help, the movie went full Einstein, nailing the concept of gravitational time dilation—where time slows down around massive gravitational fields. Ever wonder why the crew returned decades older after visiting a planet close to the black hole? Because time near Gargantua was being twisted into a pretzel by gravity. All that confusion and wonder? Blame the physics.
Thorne didn’t just talk the talk; he walked the walk. He used actual equations from General Relativity to craft Gargantua’s appearance, making the black hole’s visual effects so spot-on that, years later, real-life black hole images looked much like the movies’.
Yup, Interstellar practically predicted the future! Each frame...

Not Cillian Murphy! 2-Time Oscar Winning British Actor Has Appeared in Most Christopher Nolan Movies
Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy are synonyms of the Hollywood industry. One of the biggest directors of the 21st century and the Oscar-winning Irish star of modern cinema has an iconic partnership that goes beyond working together professionally. Nolan and Murphy have worked on some of the biggest projects such as Inception, Oppenheimer, Batman Begins, Dunkirk, and The Dark Knight Rises. While Murphy’s unbelievable acting performances in Nolan’s movies have been universally acclaimed, the Peaky Blinders star isn’t the one who has most appeared in Nolan movies.

10 years ago on November 7, 2014, Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" was released in theaters. The film was ambitious in technological scale and big in heart, but it had a somewhat divisive reception and currently holds a modest 74% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is just 15% away from being classified as "Rotten." It has taken a decade for audiences to find a new appreciation for the film, with a 70mm re-release scheduled for December 6, 2024. Hollywood is now riding the wave of Nolan's Oscar win for "Oppenheimer," looking back on his previous work as a director and seeing his evolution in creating astonishing vistas, temporal labyrinths, and pulse-quickening spectacles.
Nolan's visionary and emotionally charged sci-fi film initially alienated many viewers and critics, but in hindsight, "Interstellar" stands as one of his best movies — dare I say, even better than "Oppenheimer," which often lingers on dry, bureaucratic drama. Furthermore, many of the more common critiques misunderstand...

After the success of Oppenheimer and the cultural significance of films like Interstellar, Inception, and The Dark Knight trilogy, Christopher Nolan has become one of the most sought-after directors in Hollywood. His passion for filmmaking and attention to detail are just a few of the many reasons why people adore his work as much as they do. With this in mind, it is not surprising that the filmmaker’s next film is highly anticipated in every regard.

Veteran visual effects supervisor Paul Franklin, who won Oscars for his work on Christopher Nolan films “Interstellar” and “Inception,” has joined VFX and technology company beloFX as creative director.
Earlier, he spent 25 years at VFX giant Dneg, the company he co-founded in 1998. In joining beloFX, he’s reuniting with fellow Dneg co-founders Matt Holben and Alex Hope.
Holben and Hope co-founded beloFX in 2021 with COO Ellen Walder and Cto Graham Jack, with backing from investor Elisabeth Murdoch. The company operates out of three studios in Canada, the U.K. and India.
Franklin, a long-time collaborator of Nolan, supervised the visual effects for the three films in the “Dark Knight” trilogy. His credits also include “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” “Venom” and more recently “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.”
“His unwavering commitment to pushing visual effects to new heights is exactly the type of forward-thinking approach that defines our mission at beloFX.

Christopher Nolan has been attracting the eyes of critics throughout his entire career. Although it was working with a minuscule budget of $6,000 and only played in a few theaters in the United States, his 1998 debut feature "Following" was praised for its tight storytelling and terse psychological underpinnings. Nolan then rose to international fame with his 2000 film "Memento," a neo-noir about a man unable to form new memories. Its backward-chronological-order plot was cleverly conceived and impeccably laid out, somehow coming to a traditional narrative climax even while running in reverse.
From there it was off to the races, so to speak. Nolan became a power player in Hollywood, directing gigantic movie stars like Al Pacino and Robin Williams in a remake of "Insomnia" and making a gigantic, zeitgeist-shifting hit with 2005's "Batman Begins." Nolan's three Batman movies are still spoken of with enthusiasm to this day. Their success also allowed him...

Women don’t have it easy in Hollywood. And they didn’t back in the ’80s when former New York Times Magazine editor Lynda Obst got her start as a producer. As famously chronicled in her 1996 book “Hello, He Lied — and Other Truths from the Hollywood Trenches,” she sold her first movie “Flashdance” (1983) to Dawn Steel at Paramount, only to have the newly minted production team of Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer take over along with all the credit for its breakout success. Still, it was a winner for the Associate Producer, and she was on her way.
Always a heavy smoker, Obst passed away at age 74 from Copd (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). She was devoted to her family, including her brother, agent Rick Rosen, and son Oly, a producer/manager, whom she has described as “my confidant and best friend.”

Producer and author Lynda Obst, of Sleepless In Seattle, The Fisher King and Contact fame, has died after an illness.

She also penned a couple of outstanding books about her time in the film industry, namely Hello, He Lied and Sleepless In Hollywood: Tales From The New Abnormal In The Movie Business.
Obst appeared on a special interview episode in April 2021, and it was striking how forward she was in her thinking, bringing up such topics as quantum computing and how that might affect the movie industry.

Lynda Obst, who had producing credits on high-profile films including “Sleepless in Seattle,” “Flashdance” and “Adventures in Babysitting,” died Tuesday in Los Angeles. She was 74.
“I was immensely proud of her. She was a trailblazer for women in the industry at a time when it was very difficult for women to have prominent roles. She was passionate about her work but even more passionate about her family,” her brother, WME’s Rick Rosen, said to Variety.
Obst told the Hollywood Reporter earlier this year that she had been battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Most recently, she served as producer or executive producer on TV series including “The Hot Zone,” “Good Girls Revolt,” “Hot in Cleveland” and “Helix.” Obst’s final feature producing credit was Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” in 2014. Among her other credits were “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” “Hope Floats,” “Bad Girls” and “The Fisher King.

The latest update from Christopher Nolan’s next film after Oppenheimer sounds very promising. Spider-Man fame Tom Holland is reportedly in talks to star alongside Matt Damon in the new film. While the theme and plot of the new film are kept tightly under wraps, Nolan earlier this year expressed his interest in making a horror film.

Fans have speculated that the Interstellar director has finally come up with a “really exceptional idea” for his horror film. While Nolan is yet to make a full-fledged horror film, he has included horror elements in his films including Christian Bale’s Batman Begins and his war film Dunkirk.

Tom Holland is in talks to star in Christopher Nolan’s follow-up to his Best Picture winner “Oppenheimer,” Deadline reports.
Holland will reportedly join Matt Damon in the ensemble of the as-yet-untitled, shrouded-in-secrecy picture that’s rumored to be in the espionage genre. This will be Holland and Nolan’s first time working together. The film is expected to start filming in early 2025 and is scheduled to be released on July 17, 2026. Universal is the studio behind it.
The film will be Nolan’s second for Universal, after leaving his longtime studio home, Warner Bros., during Warners’ pandemic experiment of sending its theatrical movies to Max. No details on the plot have been revealed just yet or even a title, but there have been rumors that the film is a father-son tale that is also not set in the present day — so it’s possible Nolan has found his father-son pairing, at least.
Universal had no comment.
For what will be his 13th feature, Nolan is returning to Universal Pictures after the near-billion dollar success of the Best Picture-winning “Oppenheimer.” The studio is reportedly eyeing a release date for July 17, 2026, in IMAX, with the hope is that the film will begin shooting in early 2025.

Christopher Nolan is unquestionably one of cinema's most celebrated directors working today. When all's said and done, he may go down as one of the best to ever do it. From his incredible early works such as "Memento" to "The Dark Knight," his $1 billion take on the Batman legend, he's not only made lots of acclaimed films, but he's also displayed a ridiculous range along the way. Nolan now has a great deal of control over his sets, given that box office dollars tend to follow his critical acclaim. While the filmmaker does have certain things he bans from his sets, chairs aren't one of them, despite reports to the contrary.
For those who might not be aware, several years back around the release of "Tenet," reports surfaced that Nolan had banned chairs from his sets. It all began with Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway, who worked with the director on both...

Finally, Rick and Morty will take on the genre that’s been begging for a masterful, Dan Harmon-style parody – true crime podcasts.
Of course, the exploitative murder porn podcasting sphere is such an easy target that Rick and Morty needs fewer than fifteen seconds to tear it apart, so, in the Rick and Morty Season 8 sneak peek that Harmon and his team debuted at New York Comic Con earlier today, the series tackles a popular and significant subgenre within the science fiction canon that was long overdue for a part-parody-part-pastiche in the Rick and Morty fashion. After spending the last seven seasons dissecting and satirizing so many tropes, literary devices, genres and franchises ranging from Terminator to Die Hard to the entire idea of a heist movie, Rick and Morty Season 8 will return to its roots as it lands on a classic sci-fi set up after wandering aimlessly towards...

The Oscar for Best Visual Effects is particularly tough to predict because of the complicated system by which the nominees are determined in three stages. The members of the executive committee of the branch cast preferential ballots to determine 20 films for further consideration. These are then winnowed down to 10 semi-finalists, which will be announced on December 17, 2024. (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2025 Oscar predictions for Best Visual Effects.)
All members of the branch are invited to a virtual screening of excerpts from these 10 films in January at which potential nominees may discuss their work. Ballots are counted using a system of re-weighted range voting to determine the five nominees, which will be revealed on January 17. The entire voting membership of the academy will then vote for the winners, which will be revealed during the 97th Academy Awards ceremony on March 2.

Samson: A Savior Will Rise is an upcoming World War II Holocaust film based on true events, bringing to the screen an inspiring and harrowing tale of faith and survival. The film, adapted from the award-winning novel and screenplay, explores a unique and powerful story set against the backdrop of Auschwitz, one of history’s most brutal concentration camps.
A Story of Courage Amidst Atrocity
The story centers around Samson, a Jewish American middleweight Olympic boxer imprisoned at Auschwitz, where Jewish men were forced to participate in boxing matches for the entertainment of Nazi officials. These matches were no ordinary boxing events—losing meant death in the gas chambers, while winning guaranteed an extra ration of food. However, when the camp’s notorious leaders, including Commandant Rudolf Höss and the infamous Dr. Josef Mengele (the “Angel of Death”), discover that they have an Olympic boxer among the prisoners, the stakes are raised.

Following the incredible success of 2023’s Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan is sticking with Universal for his 2026 project.
When Christopher Nolan left Warner Bros back in 2020 after a very public disagreement with the studio, it marked the end of a successful partnership that spanned two decades, beginning with 2002’s Insomnia.
Nolan’s sudden status as a free agent saw lots of studios attempt to lure the filmmaker to their banner. Universal that ultimately triumphed by offering the filmmaker the guarantee of theatrical releases alongside some handsome benefits.
That was in 2021, and the deal has worked out splendidly for both parties. Oppenheimer made just shy of a billion dollars at the global box office, as well as scooping up lots and lots of awards (including Oscars aplenty). It’s no surprise, then, that Nolan has elected to make Universal his home for his next, untitled project.

Christopher Nolan is sticking with Universal, TheWrap has learned.
Nolan’s next film, reportedly set to star Matt Damon, will be released by Universal, which released his Oscar-winning powerhouse “Oppenheimer.” Damon memorably co-starred in “Oppenheimer” and Nolan’s earlier “Interstellar.” The release date, which includes an Imax component, is set for July 17, 2026.
No plot details have been revealed.
Previously, Nolan had made all of his big movies with Warner Bros., beginning with “Insomnia” way back in 2002 (“Interstellar” was a co-production with Paramount and “The Prestige” was a co-production with Disney). His relationship with the studio soured with the awkward release of “Tenet” in 2020, as Warner Bros. dealt with the unprecedented pandemic and kept pushing the release back, and took a hit with the studio’s Project Popcorn initiative in 2021 that saw the company release the entire slate theatrically and on the streaming platform HBO Max.
