I found this movie very enjoyable.
bobhill93 May 2009
This movie started out by moving from the modern life in the city to the Indian reservation of the main character. I don't know how much of what was portrayed is true and what is fiction. I assume the story was fiction. On one hand it is a study of guilt and what it can lead to. On the other hand it is a study of possible religious beliefs of this tribe of Indians and the upbringing of the main character. The tribe's Medicine man didn't have to do much acting as he was a natural for the part. He looked like Little Jimmy Dickens when I first saw him but of course he wasn't. The acting was OK but the story line and mysticism kept me involved with the story till the end. One thing I never did figure out was the roll of the wolf. This movie is a little old but if you get a chance to see it, take it. It will be worth your while.

Kind of predictable...

Warning: Spoilers
Sorry, when they told us that the White DA boyfriend was running for the Dead Senator's seat, I knew he was the guy who really did it. And he would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!

Not to say the film didn't have some good parts to it. I think it tried to show the tension between native Americans who conform and those who stubbornly try to hold on to the last of their culture. But I think it was trying TOO hard.

Generally, too "Film Student", not enough film professional.

Oh, yeah, the Native American babe was hot. Her mom was hot, too...

It started with bad acting and direction, but the synopsis had led me to believe the story would be interesting. A lot of nothing was filmed. The climax was anti-climactic and unoriginal. It was very racist and included some false statements regarding the history of Europeans and Asians in colonial America.

Very Good Movie. This left a good IMPRINT
BobWasson16 September 2009
I was pleasantly surprised at how good this movie was.I picked it up at Blockbuster. It was well written, very well acted and directed. The cinematography was nice. All around it was very well crafted. I am always inspired to see good movies made on minimal budgets, without name actors with a shoestring crew that deliver something that is on par and in some cases surpassing what a lot of bigger budget projects don't. It was nice to see this genre in a different context. It was easy to see from the credits that this film was made by a few people that were wearing a lot of hats and they did it very well. This was good story telling.Good movie making. Well done! I would be interested to know what the budget was on this project. If anyone involved knows and wants to share PM me.

Eesh

I couldn't even make it 10 minutes. Poorly acted, boring, and badly done overall. Perhaps a bigger budget might have saved it, but I wasn't interested enough to invest the time to find out if it was worth finishing.

Beautiful Gem, Dont Miss This One If Synopsis Speaks To You!

I really enjoyed this movie, loved the traditional Native American aspects. It was a spiritual, psychological thriller, supernatural and drama cacophony all rolled together. Very entertaining and holds you all the way through to the twist at the end. Beautiful cinematography and the acting was above par for an indie film. Loved it!

Not really a horror film. More of a premonition
lopezpatricia-0613927 January 2021
Like other reviewers I have to say it did focus on how white people are the evil bad guys. Very irritating. Not interested I wanted to see a horror film. No horror just a mild mystery. The cover art suggests it's a ghost story. Not so. 5 mins of a couple of shadows that turns out to be her seeing a premonition. Cover / poster ads should be more honest rather than gearing you up for something that just didn't exist.

Technically incompetent
dean-901-5791062 December 2020
Completely unwatchable. Appalling "cinematography", inept camera work. Sound, lighting, editing all far worse than a film school attempt. Can't say much about the acting or storyline, as it was impossible to watch beyond the first ten minutes due to the shocking technical incompetence on every level.

Well, I wasn't expecting that!

A definitely must see film. Not my usual kind of film to watch, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Really thought I had my suspicions correct, but a wonderful brilliant twist.

So glad I checked this film out!

This was one of those movies that showed up on my Because You Watched list on Netflix. Of course, the movie I had watched, Witch Hunt, was not remotely similar to this film, although it was also good in its own right. What made me give this movie I had not heard of before was when I saw it was from filmmaker Chris Eyre. I am a fan of his film Smoke Signals. The story was engaging and the solution to the mystery was a kicker. Plus the current hardships faced by real life on the reservations is eye opening. Great flick. Don't pass this mystery by.

Outstanding! truly creative story line keeps you wondering
fourwinds414 June 2017
Absolutely loved this movie. The story had me spellbound. If you like the current genre of CGI / gratuitous violence/ flash flash flash, blood spurting/ "horror" with fake ghosts or copious blood ... this is not for you. However, if you are drawn to well written and well crafted pieces of film making that uses old fashioned good writing, direction and acting to create atmosphere... watch. I found the scenes in the isolated little house on Pine Ridge rather scary. Clearly the woman is seeing something supernatural, but what? The twist towards the end is brilliant; I did not guess it and thought it totally plausible. I really appreciated the inclusion of some Spiritual Lakota values in the form of the Grandfather who advises her to go cleanse and asks her if she's hearing voices. As he says, most people don't listen. Do you listen? That scene at the memorial for Wounded Knee was full of palpable energy and sentiment. I also liked the inclusion of the one word Tom says to the boyfriend "Respect". Aho! I have spent time on Pine Ridge and am fascinated by the Lakota culture which I consider to be one of the most inspiring & wise in the world. It was very well acted by all, very well directed and in short, a shining example of a terrific production on not much money. I also loved the music... gosh the Linn family seems to be multi talented.

Thank you for one terrific movie that also has something positive to say about life and values. Excellent.

Interesting to the end

I really liked this movie. There was a couple of things going on that kept you guessing. I saw one poster stating they didn't like the ending but I thought the ending was just right. Don't pass this one by.

Very Good Movie
lancewe-2660915 June 2021
Don't let the bad reviews put you off. This is an independent movie, and doesn't have the biggest budget or best cameras. However it is a very good film, with actual Indigenous actors. Interesting story, but more of a mystery than a horror film.
