Beginning her career at a tender age with the Nickelodeon comedy series All That, Amanda Bynes went on to become one of the most popular young stars and a role model for teenagers and young adults. With a repertoire of romantic comedies and other films under her belt, Bynes also rose to be one of the most commercially successful actors with an impressive net worth.

A decade ago though, The Easy A star stepped back from acting following a ton of troubles in her personal life which included acute mental health issues. Stating that acting gave her no enjoyment anymore, Bynes quit the profession and with that, saw a huge drop in her net worth.

The treasure trove of young talent that emerged from The CW’s “Riverdale” is truly astonishing, and Camila Mendes is no exception. Her star power as both an actress in and executive producer of the immediately classic rom-com “Upgraded” takes the New York University alum to new heights.
While Mendes’ former “Riverdale” costars are flying high in their respective lanes, with Cole Sprouse stealing scenes even as a mute zombie in the Diablo Cody-penned “Lisa Frankenstein” to Charles Melton’s haunting, award-winning (yet Oscar-snubbed) performance in “May December,” Mendes has proven her own visionary chops in recent years. The star had a standout role in frothy high school dark comedy “Do Revenge” opposite Maya Hawke, and now holds her own alongside iconic actress Marisa Tomei in “Upgraded.”
Mendes’ likability (and relatability) almost mirrors Amanda Bynes’ Hollywood reign during the “She’s the Man” and “Sydney White” days. “Upgraded” is essentially “What a Girl Wants...

The original Max series “Full Circle” debuts on July 13. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, the new drama investigates a kidnapping gone wrong in New York, revealing the secrets and lies of multiple characters. Or as the trailer warns: “Everything is connected.” The six-episode limited series stars Zazie Beetz, Claire Danes, Jim Gaffigan, Jharrel Jerome, Timothy Olyphant, and Dennis Quaid.
Watch the “Full Circle” trailer:
The four-part documentary “Last Call: When A Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York” is set in the early 1990s as the AIDS crisis worsens. The media’s distorted coverage of the gay victims, coupled with the homophobic biases of the criminal justice system, undermine the investigation. The docuseries — which premieres on Max on July 9 — illustrates how the LGBTQ+ community fought to solve the murders and demand attention for those murdered.

When you’re a streaming service, there’s only one way to celebrate the New Year. And that’s by IP mining to bring back a franchise that had no business in coming back!
With its list of new releases for January 2022, Hulu is raiding CBS’s closet and premiering How I Met Your Father, a continuation of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Complaints about unnecessary rebooting aside, perhaps its worth giving the Hillary Duff starring series a chance. If nothing else, telling a story about 2022 from a future perspective might play well.
Aside from Himyf, there aren’t any other Hulu original series to speak of. Instead, Hulu is opting to once again beef up its film library. There’s never a bad time for a new superhero show, mind you. But with Amazon’s brilliantly bloody The Boys having been off air for five or so months now, the streaming world is particularly due for a new supe. With its list of new releases for March 2021, Amazon is going to be rectifying that.
The animated adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s comic series Invincible is set to arrive on Amazon Prime this March 26. Kirkman’s comic series is a colorful, thrilling, and violent take on superhero myths and the series that it inspired will feature a truly impressive cast. Take that all into account and this will be an important addition to the streaming superhero canon.

On Friday, America’s favorite mutant turtles are returning to theaters seven years after they were last seen on the big screen. Like the last time, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael, are going to be computer-animated but also sharing the screen with live-action stars, such as Meghan Fox and Will Arnett in Michael Bay’s big budget (read: big explosions) version.
Sadly, that means fans of Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, and Alan Ritchson, won’t get to see the young actors in person in the film. And for Ploszek, they will not even hear him voice Leonardo. (Johnny Knoxville is taking the lead on vocals.)
But thankfully, we have a look at all the actors — minus the CGI — for those not familiar with the dudes portraying the reptiles on the big screen.
It really is a shame because fans of Ritchson may remember him from...

"She's a great student who always participated and really cared about her classes," a source exclusively tells E! News. "She really fit in and loves her school." Bynes is thriving at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, where Lauren Conrad and Monique Lhuillier once studied. In fact, she plans to take more classes this April. Going about her usual routine nowadays, Amanda Bynes got her hair done at the salon before walking the dogs with her parents on Sunday (December 29) in La.
The “Sydney White” starlet wore a patterned dark blue shirt, black skinnies and a pair of pink running treads, walking along, looking a little sullen as she went with her parents.
The 27-year-old has been the basis for an impressive number of arrests and bizarre incidents, leading to her being placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold in California.
Her arrest and hold came after she allegedly started a fire in a stranger's driveway, but she seems healthy now, and is getting back in the swing of things. Let’s hope she can make her come back to stardom soon!

We haven't heard much since she was placed in psychiatric hold, but now attorneys report that Amanda Bynes is unfit to stand trail for her past legal battles.
On Tuesday (September 24), the "Sydney White" star's lawyer Rich Hutton appeared in court on behalf of the actress and faced a judge for her 2012 DUI case.
According to TMZ, Mr. Hutton argued that Miss Bynes could not attend the hearing, stating she lacked mental capacity to understand the legal proceedings.
With that said, the judge had no choice but to transfer 27-year-old actress' case to a mental health court for more evaluation.
Meanwhile, Amanda continues to stay silent since being placed in the hold and also legal conservatorship after a few months of outrageous behavior.

Update: The four reptilian heroes in Michael Bay's Tmnt reboot, Ninja Turtles, have been cast (by human actors, as it were):
* Alan Ritchson is playing Raphael (he was Aquaman in "Smallville" and will play Gloss in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire),
* Jeremy Howard (Sydney White) will play Donatello,
* Noel Fisher (Battle: Los Angeles, Russian vampire Vladimir in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn 2) will play Michaelangelo
* Pete Ploszek (an episode of "Parks and Recreation" and an episode of "Shameless")
Jonathan Liebesman is directing (Michael Bay is executive produceing) - Liebesman is the director behind Battle: Los Angeles - and must've been impressed by Fisher's performance.

Even though she's been acting since the age of eight, most moviegoers only began to discover actress Sara Paxton in the mid-'00s when she starred on the show "Darcy's Wild Life" and in 'tween comedies like Aquamarine and Sydney White . She then transitioned into horror with roles in movies like Shark Night 3D and The Last House on the Left , but appearing in Ti West's lower budget 2010 flick The Innkeepers really put Paxton on the map as someone who could do great character work without relying on big gimmicks. Maybe that's why Paxton is back at South by Southwest for the second time, having previously been here two years ago with The Innkeepers . All one has to do to determine the future big screen prospects of Russell Brand is to simply look at the titles at some of the movies he's been attached to: "Rentaghost," "Hauntrepreneur," "The President Stole My Girlfriend" (seriously), "Man That Rocks The Cradle" and earlier this week, "Pierre Pierre" (though of all these flicks, this one is the promising). And you can now add "Cupid" to the list. The funnyman will star in the Warner Bros. project with a script from Joe Nussbaum, whose credits include "Prom" and "Sydney White," which should be warning enough to any rational person. But alas, they aren't, and Brand will play a cynical Cupid who is forced to create an ideal romance. [Insert Katy Perry joke here.] Sounds pretty dreadful to us to be honest, and it's somewhat fitting that Disney figured out a way to properly utilize Brand's outsized personality by casting him as...

After replacing Jim Carrey in the raunchy comedy Pierre Pierre from Borat and The Dictator director Larry Charles, it looks like Russell Brand is taking on even more comedy roles. Variety reports Brand is attached to star in and produce Cupid, a romantic comedy that Warner Bros. picked up based on a pitch by Joe Nussbaum, the director of Prom and Sydney White. The story follows a cynical god of desire, affection and erotic love who is forced to create an ideal romance, but I'm willing to bet he messes it up somehow, or maybe even falls in love with the woman upon whom he is supposed to force another suitor. More below! Knowing Nussbaum's history with feature films doesn't give me me faith, however, his short film George Lucas in Love is one of the best you will ever see. Days after Russell Brand's name popped up for the lead in Larry Charles's Borat-esque comedy Pierre Pierre, the Brand X host is now in bed with Warner Bros. to produce and star in Cupid. The film, from Joe Nussbaum (Prom, an Amanda Bynes joint called Sydney White, one of the American Pie spinoffs), is about "a cynical Cupid being forced to create an ideal romance," Variety writes. Brand's sensational vocabulary could certainly serve a caustic Cupid well.

Chicago – If your ideal vision of prom is best represented by “Carrie,” then odds are Disney’s “Prom” is not for you. In fact, if you are a high schooler, were a high schooler or may become a high schooler, “Prom” is guaranteed to strike you as monumentally childish. It’s the sort of harmless dreck so mediocre and generic that it could’ve been made in any time period. In a sense, it’s timeless dreck.
See if this sounds familiar: a perky popular overachiever finds herself falling for the long-haired brooding loser with a motorcycle and a criminal record. “He’s a rude, arrogant menace!” she shouts early in the film, thus solidifying that she will undoubtedly end up in his arms at the final fade-out. Seriously, how many “Breakfast Club” retreads and Disneyfied teenage dramas does the human race need?

Thankfully, "Shark Night 3D" has several... and none are more babealicious than Sara Paxton.
The 23-year-old blonde beauty has spent quality time on the small screen ("The Beautiful Life," "Summerland," "Darcy's Wild Life") and the big screen ("Aquamarine," "Sydney White"). Thankfully for many, they've required her to appear in various stage of undress and completely gorgeous.

Every once in a while a silly adolescent rom-com comes along that despite our best efforts, we can not help but enjoy. And then a movie like Prom comes along and we remember why we resisted the genre in the first place. With a script that makes Nora Ephron seem delectably art house and a cast of new youngsters that, with any luck, will never be heard from again, Prom is best watched with a group of friends, snickering at its banal clichés - or better yet, not watched at all.
Director Joe Nussbaum’s latest stab at teenage melodrama (his previous efforts being Sleepover and Sydney White) focuses on a group of high school students all counting down to one very important night - you guessed it, Prom. Aimee Teegarden leads the pack as Nova, straight-a student and all around overachiever who devotes herself to making Prom the absolute...

Prom
Opens: April 29th 2011
Cast: Aimee Teegarden, Thomas McDonell, Danielle Campbell, Yin Chang
Director: Joe Nussbaum
Summary: Portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite. For Nova Prescott, it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events.
Analysis: Disney's attempt at creating the next "High School Musical" franchise for itself, this teen romantic comedy is a batch of clique cliches - the beauty queen, the rebel with better hair than anyone else in the film, the handsome yet dumb foreign exchange student, the 'so above it' geek who really wants to belong, and at least one or two 'fugly' girls.

How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris is planning on making his directorial debut with a film called Aaron and Sarah, which will star Emma Roberts (Scream 4) and Josh Hutcherson (Almost Spider-Man).
The story follows a geeky guy and a popular girl who become friends as freshmen in high school and see their relationship deepen through the four years, four proms and one funeral before graduation.
David O' Russell was actually attached to direct this film before he jumped on the video game film adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. But, before Russell was involved there was Sydney White helmer Joe Nussbaum who was developing the film. The this film has been through several different hands of directors and studios.
The film was previously called B.F.F. and was written by Pushing Daisies scribes Chad Gomez Creasey and Dara Resnik Creasey.

Despite having a certain susceptibility to teen movies — not that there’s anything wrong with a grown woman being able to quote most of Bring It On — I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed this weekend’s Easy A. Emma Stone kills it as Olive, a high school student who traps herself in an extremely slutty lie, and as her potential romantic interest, Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley evokes the above-it-all cool of, well, Jesse Bradford in Bring It On. (Yes, I am aware that other movies exist.) Hooray, also, for Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson as the weirdest,...

Easy A
Directed by: Will Gluck
Cast: Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Amanda Bynes, Patricia Clarkson, Stanley Tucci
Running Time: 1 hr 30 mins
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: September 17, 2010
Plot: Nice and normal Olive (Stone) accidentally creates a rumor that she lost her virginity. She likes the attention and lets it spread through high school. Now there are some things she can’t control.
Who’S It For? Are you desperate for the high-school teenage comedy that isn’t all about sex? Well this is it … oh, wait. No it’s not. But at least it’s funny and a slightly new take.
Expectations: None. I knew nothing except Emma Stone was the lead. She’s been good, so I was hoping for something fun.
Scorecard (0-10)
Actors:
Emma Stone as Olive: This one is a little difficult. I liked Stone’s performance as Olive. She’s thrust into popularity from being just another kid at high school.

This sure has been an interesting summer to follow Amanda Bynes’ Twitter feed. In June, she announced her retirement from acting on her beloved Twitter account, and in July, she simply announced that she “unretired” from acting on her Twitter. In the few weeks in between, Amanda tweeted around the clock, making all her faithful followers believe that while she no longer loved acting enough to do it full-time, she certainly loved Twitter enough to pursue that full-time instead. It certainly was the summer of love for Amanda Bynes and her Twitter (cue Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson singing “Summer...

Walt Disney Pictures announced a set of significant release schedule changes this morning, beginning with moving Monsters Inc. 2 up two weeks. It also removed two potentially high-profile movies from its calendar, along with adding a high school comedy to its spring 2011 roster. Monsters Inc. 2 has been shifted from Nov. 16, 2012 to Nov. 2, 2012, shortly after The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part Two) staked its claim on the Nov. 16 date yesterday. About 15 minutes before Disney's announcement, Paramount Pictures pushed DreamWorks Animation's tentatively-titled The Guardians from Nov. 2, 2012 to Wed., Nov. 21, meaning all three currently scheduled Nov. 2012 movies have shifted dates in the past 24 hours. More impactful than the minor Monsters Inc. 2 change, though, was Disney's removal of newt and Beauty and the Beast (3D) from the schedule. Pixar's newt was previously dated Summer 2012, though it shouldn't come as a surprise that it's been removed considering Pixar already has Brave slated for June 15, 2012. Beauty and the Beast...

Variety reports that pop/R&B recording artist Rihanna has joined the cast of Peter Berg's water based epic action adaptation of the board game Battleship. While Rihanna's music has appeared in movies such as Bring It On: All or Nothing, Are We There Yet?, Sydney White, 21, Wild Child, The House Bunny, Beethoven's Big Break, I Love You Man, The Hangover and Grand Ma Takedown, this marks her feature film acting debut. There are no further details on what part she will have in the film. Previously: Written by the brother writing team Jon and Erich Hoeber (Whiteout), the story unfolds as "a massive Naval adventure across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force." The superior force are aliens from another planet known as The Regents. They come from a world similar to ours, and aren't actually...

Last month, Amanda Bynes — the former Nickelodeon star, Maxim cover girl and actress in movies like "She's the Man," "Sydney White" and the upcoming "Easy A" — announced that she was retiring from acting because she didn't love it anymore. But over the weekend, she pulled a complete about-face on her employment status. "I've unretired," she pithily announced via Twitter.
Bynes' exit from acting only lasted about a month, which is a pretty impressive turnaround. She joins the icons below on the list of the best unretirements of all time.

Amanda Bynes apparently has changed her mind regarding her early retirement from acting. After making a shocking announcement about her bidding goodbye to the acting world in June, the 24-year-old star of "Sydney White" has sung a different tune recently as she declared on Twitter, "I've unretired."
Back in June after she celebrated her 24th birthday, the former "All That" actress admitted she was no longer passionate about acting and thus decided to retire. "Being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem," she explained her reason in a series of tweets. "If I don't love something anymore, I stop doing it. I don't love acting anymore, so I've stopped doing it."
The Viola Hastings of "She's the Man" added in another tweet, "I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I've #retired". She also wrote in a tweet, "I've never written the...

Earlier in the summer she oddly announced her retirement from Hollywood, but now Amanda Bynes says she is unretiring.
In June, “the Sydney White” actress tweeted, "Being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem. If I don't love something anymore, I stop doing it. I don't love acting anymore, so I've stopped doing it."
But yesterday (July 23), Ms Bynes took to her Twitter page and announced her changed mindset, as she wrote, “I’ve unretired.”
Wasting no time at all, Amanda also plugged an ad for her next film called “Easy A,” which is due out in theaters on September 17.

Contrary to recent claim, Amanda Bynes is not switching her attention to circus after declaring that she is retiring from acting. The "Sydney White" beauty has her representative slamming down rumor that she is "running away to join the circus." In addition to calling the report "hilarious", her rep told Gossip Cop that "there isn't a shred of truth to it."
The rumor was fueled by a headline on The National Enquirer story that read "It's Viva Las Vegas for Amanda Bynes." The tabloid went on to claim that the actress "is planning an animal-themed show in Las Vegas." It supported the story with a so-called pal's claim, "Amanda loves animals... and she's looking into doing a circus-type animal show in Vegas while her name is still hot."

Fairy tale stories have been told and retold for generations - so how do movie makers get their adaptations so wrong? Here are our suggestions...
Even though Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood is the freshest example to date, popular fairytales, fables, and folklore have been told and retold (and retold again) in films for decades. The communal nature of these stories and the bond to the material creates a collective acceptance to passing them on from generation to generation and through various reiterations.
But in a world where films get remade multiple times and sequels are put into production before their predecessors are released, fairy tales both beloved and unexamined are likely to be milked for new movies. Films like Red Riding Hood, Maleficent, and another live action Cinderella are already in the works.
