Now, in the hands of gifted scientist Millicent Browning (Juliet Aubrey), what darkness is set the befall her?
Millicent’s beloved husband (Philip Martin Brown) is desperately ill with a degenerative disease and she will stop at nothing in her determination to find a cure before it’s too late. Their son William (Matt Barber), a doctor in the local asylum, voices his concerns but she pays no heed.

While “based on a true story” is typically a ploy to lure in audiences, the basis of the 2007 movie Primeval does, in fact, exist. Or at least he did, at one point. The whereabouts of what many deem the “world’s most prolific killer” — a decades-old Nile crocodile named Gustave who allegedly claimed somewhere between 200 and 300 human lives — are murky nowadays. Some say Burundi’s most infamous reptile is long gone, and others demand proof of his passing. Regardless, Gustave’s notoriety lives on in this panned Hollywood creature-feature with a severe identity crisis.
Back then, it was understandable to have a cursory look at the original ad campaign for Primeval and not realize the movie is about a crocodile. An intentionally vague trailer led to complaints of deception from viewers; they were expecting a movie about a human serial killer. Imagine their surprise once they watched Primeval, which, for obvious reasons,...

Allow us to jog your memory as to how much of a scary good time these killer alligator/crocodile flicks can be. From the hilariously campy to the horrifyingly credible, here are our Top 10 Favorite Killer Alligator/Crocodile Movies!
#10. Crocodile (2000) – Just a few weeks back we boldly stood up for what Tobe Hooper’s unabashedly trashy direct-to-video Crocodile – a movie that, while among the lower rungs of his illustrious filmography, is actually much more gory, violent and overall fun than people give it credit for. While cheaply made and poorly acted, the great thing about this flick is the sheer amount of killer-croc-action and exorbitant death toll as the prehistoric beast named Flat Dog chews, chomps, marauds and masticates every damn annoying human in its predatory path. A fall from grace in the eyes of many, Crocodile is minor-key Hooper having a damn good time! Get Here

BBQs, pool parties, hiking, meals with family and friends. Or … or … you can forget all that and watch some great stuff on TV this Labor Day weekend. This is a list for those who choose the latter, a rundown of 10 worthwhile movies and shows now available to stream.
The Flash — Max
Warner Bros. boss David Zaslav infamously declared The Flash “the best superhero movie I’ve ever seen.” When the film was released in May, everyone wondered how many superhero films Zaslav had watched before this one. Yet the DC title starring Ezra Miller (which is a whole other conversation) also wasn’t nearly as lousy as its shockingly low box office suggested. The Flash is a modern-day spin on Back to the Future with clever dialogue, some affecting moments and, for once, a climactic CG-filled battle that isn’t the solution to the superhero’s crisis.

This article contains spoilers for Justified: City Primeval.
When FX announced a new limited series featuring Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), fans of Justified were excited, but skeptical. The original run of Justified from 2010-2015 was some of the greatest television in recent memory, separating itself from the rest of the pack. Based on the works of Elmore Leonard, the series was equal parts country-fried charm and law-and-order procedural, where viewers could often find themselves cheering for the criminals as often as they did law enforcement.
Justified also ended as powerfully as it began, with arguably one of the most satisfying finales which not only sewed everything up, but was downright touching as well. Which means that new showrunners Dave Andron and Michael Dinner were playing with Kentucky fire – if Justified: City Primeval was a let down, it could ruin the hard work the original series put in for six years.

Anyone who knows beloved crime novelist Elmore Leonard only through Justified, the 2010 TV adaptation of his work, might be confused as to why its reboot, Justified: City Primeval, moves the action from the hollers of Harlan County, Kentucky to the rust belt of Detroit, Michigan.
That confusion is understandable as Justified enjoys one of the most richly-realized settings in modern television history. Despite filming nearly the entirety of its six-season run in Southern California (the pilot was shot in Pittsburgh), FX‘s saga about an anachronistic stetson-wearing lawman was absolutely steeped in Appalachian realness. Indeed, the entire premise of the show revolved around Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) being forced to relocate back to his troubled Kentucky hometown following a questionably “justified” shooting of a crime lord in Miami.
Justified quite simply does not work without its Harlan County setting. The weight of history bears down on...

Across its five seasons, Mayans Mc has warmly embraced its Sons of Anarchy origins, bringing back familiar faces and meaningfully weaving the Sons into Mayans storylines for years. It was only logical, then, to wonder if Mayans might end the same way Sons did, with the death of its tortured protagonist.

Two private security guards on the set of NBC’s Chicago Fire were injured Thursday when youths broke through a barrier and drove a four-wheeler onto the drama’s Chicago set.
The incident occurred in the city’s South Loop near the downtown Fire Academy. The guards, whose names were not released, were ultimately struck by the four-wheeler. A source told Deadline that the heroic efforts by the guards prevented the Atv from reaching the cast and crew.
The youths managed to flee the scene. The guards — retired members of the Chicago Police Department — were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The incident immediately drew chatter on Twitter on the second to last day of filming for the NBC series. The plan is to wrap Friday.

With Evil Dead Rise now in theaters around the world, I had a chance to catch up with Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland, who told me all about their introductions to the original "Evil Dead" films and their on-set experience!
New Line Cinema and Renaissance Pictures present a return to the iconic horror franchise, “Evil Dead Rise,” from writer/director Lee Cronin (“The Hole in the Ground”). The movie stars Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols (“Reminiscence”) and introducing Nell Fisher (“Northspur”).
Moving the action out of the woods and into the city, “Evil Dead Rise” tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Sutherland and Sullivan, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.

S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt has revealed she was left “homeless” due to the UK housing crisis.
The singer and actor, who had chart-topping success with the pop group from 1998 to 2003, had to sleep in a friend’s office with her partner, personal trainer Adam Thomas, and their two young children at Christmas.
In a new interview, Spearritt, 41 said they had no choice but to move after a landlord, who had given them two months to leave their rented home in South West London, brought the move date forward.
The decision left them with two days to find a new place and, after finding a short-term rental, that property’s landlord asked them to pay £6,000 up front, which Spearritt called “crazy extortionate”.

American Primeval: Betty Gilpin, Dane DeHaan, Jai Courtney, and more join the limited Western series
Netflix‘s six-episode Western series American Primeval rustled up a formidable posse today with several actors joining the cast. Betty Gilpin, Dane DeHaan, and Shea Whigham will star alongside Taylor Kitsch, who leads the limited series. The project hails from Pete Berg, Eric Newman, and Mark L. Smith, with Berg directing all episodes. In addition to stepping behind the camera, Berg will executive produce through Film 44 alongside Newman via Grand Electric.
The plot for American Primeval explores the birth of the American West and the trials and tribulations surrounding race, land, community, and power. Maintaining control requires sacrifice, and some groups are more inclined to go to war than others.

Ever since it was announced that Justified: City Primeval would be a limited series revival of the hit FX series, there have been questions about whether it will conclude the franchise.
During the TCA panel for the series on Thursday, the cast and creatives shed light on what longtime fans can expect.
Adelaide Clemens revealed that the series isn't exactly a spinoff, but it's more like "an extension of the universe."
As a result, it was revealed that the new series could be watched without watching the 2010-15 series.
Series star Timothy Olyphant opened up about returning to the Justified universe.
"My biggest concern was that I'd only make a pile of money," he said to reporters at the event, but the actor went on to speak more candidly.
"I didn't have any concerns. I love these guys," he said of the cast and crew who were on the stage with them.

When Raylan Givens resurfaces in FX’s Justified: City Primeval, he won’t be alone. No, his little girl will be with him — and nearly tower over Dad!
Inspired by the late Elmore Leonard’s crime novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit, the FX limited series finds Raylan Givens (played again by Timothy Olyphant) still living in Miami, to which he relocated in the original series’ finale. A chance encounter on a desolate Florida highway leads Raylan to Detroit, where he crosses paths with sociopath Clement Mansell aka “The Oklahoma Wildman” (Boyd Holbrook) — all as his and Winona’s daughter Willa tags along.

Lookout Paramount, Netflix is looking to eat Yellowstone’s prairie dog and beans with a Western series of its own design. Alright, maybe that’s not one hundred percent true, but isn’t everything in the streaming space a competition these days? Either way, Netflix is giving a straight-to-series order for American Primeval, a six-episode limited drama starring Taylor Kitsch.
Netflix says the limited series executive produced by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) and Eric Newman (Narcos) is a “raw, adventurous exploration of the birth of the American West. The violent collisions of cultures, religions and communities as men and women fight and die for control of this new world — for a land they truly believe is their destiny. The [series] tells a story of the sacrifice all must pay when they choose to enter a lawless and untamed wilderness.”

FX Chairman John Landgraf was asked about the July 21 shooting incident on the Chicago set of the network’s upcoming limited series Justified: City Primeval. As Deadline first reported, the incident involved cars whose occupants were engaged in a gunfight smashing through safety barricades. It led to a temporary production halt and the implementation of additional security measures, including bringing in a trained hostage negotiator and his team, which includes former members of the Navy SEALs and Army Rangers.
“I think it was a pretty traumatic experience for the cast and crew to be anywhere near that kind of gunfire,” Landgraf said during the FX executive session at TCA. “A lot was done to take a break and make sure everyone was Ok, and we [increased] security.”
He praised Disney’s “extraordinary security system” and added, “We take that stuff really seriously, we are glad that no one was injured, and...

Donald and Stephen Glover addressed criticism from the Black community that their hit FX series Atlanta isn’t for them during the show’s TCA panel on Tuesday. The show’s fourth and final season is set to premiere on September 15.
“To be real, if you’re online, everybody’s gonna have an agenda on some level,” Donald Glover said. “It would be silly to say that sometimes what people say doesn’t affect you because—especially being Black —I feel like a lot of the Black criticism bothers me only because it sounds like [it’s from] Black people who don’t really know what we’ve been through. I don’t think they give a lot of credit to what we’ve gone through. So to be like, ‘Oh, these Black people hate Black people or these Black people hate Black women.’— I’m like, It’s such, my it’s...

Exclusive: Sony has beefed up protection on the Chicago set of Justified: City Primeval after last week’s shooting, including the addition of a security team trained in high-threat situations.
Deadline has learned that a trained hostage negotiator who provides security detail globally has arrived in Chicago to provide an added later of defense from outside threats. His team, which includes former members of the Navy SEALs and Army Rangers, will focus primarily on future locations to make them as safe as possible.
The team will work in concert with production’s existing security team and the Chicago Police Department.
An additional precaution was made for local crew members who don’t want to drive to set. Shuttles are now available for everyone, not just those who traveled to Chicago from Los Angeles.
Production was altered this week so cast and crew will be working on stages while their safety plans are reassessed.

When big changes come to Doctor Who it’s the Doctor who grabs all the headlines. That, after all, is showbusiness: children don’t ask for bedsheets bedecked with the faces of the show’s writing or production team. It’s the showrunner – much more than anyone else, including the actor playing the lead role – upon whom the fate and fortunes of the show rest. They decide everything from the look, feel and tone of the seasons, to the thrust and arc of the narrative, to who writes, directs and stars – from the smallest bit-part to the Doctor themselves. The buck stops with them, in other words, and a showrunner can very much make or break an era.
So while speculation rages about who will take on the mantle of the 14th Doctor, it’s Chris Chibnall‘s replacement as showrunner who will ultimately carry the weight of the universe on their back.

In the new horror movie “Crawl,” a pack of enormous alligators invades a sleepy Florida town during a violent hurricane and proceeds to rip the cast apart, limb by limb. These nasty gators aren’t the first critters of their kind to terrify audiences, however. Here’s our list of ravenous reptiles, ranked in order from scariest to silliest.

When his appetite for human flesh gets the better of him, Ramón bursts through the sidewalk and chows down on a horde of terrified locals. Featuring colorful performances from cult film superstars Robert Forster and Henry Silva, plus witty direction from the ever-dependable Lewis Teague, “Alligator” is more than just the best rampaging reptile movie...

Today, the BBC has cost me 40p. In that time, I've listened to a bit of radio, caught up with the news at the BBC website. And then?
I watched Saturday's Doctor Who.
Good grief. In a series that's not been afraid to take twists, turns, to go off in precisely the opposite direction that people were expecting, Face The Raven has again demonstrated the confidence and talent that's fuelling modern day Doctor Who. It does feel like we take a lot of this for granted, but there are several flat-out exquisite moments in this episode - not least Peter Capaldi giving his work in The Zygon Inversion a run for its money - that surely deserve at the very least a lot more respect. Some thunderous applause would help,...

Spoilers: writer Peter Harness chats to us about The Zygon Invasion, The Zygon Inversion and Doctor Who...
This interview contains spoilers for Doctor Who: The Zygon Inversion, The Zygon Invasion, and Kill The Moon.
The weekend just gone saw The Zygon Inversion screen on BBC One, penned by Peter Harness and Steven Moffat. It’s Harness’ third Doctor Who episode, following The Zygon Invasion and Kill The Moon, and his pen also adapted Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, that appeared on our screens earlier this year.
He spared us some time for a spoiler-y chat about writing, Doctor Who, and taking risks…
I remember talking to James Moran around the time he wrote The Fires Of Pompeii for Doctor Who. He recalled that when he wrote that episode, Russell T Davies gave him some particular ingredients. It was going to be Pompeii, the day before the eruption,...

From Primeval to Merlin and Atlantis, Doctor Who's return spawned a host of Saturday teatime dramas that have since disappeared. What next?
It’s Saturday night. BBC 1 is showing Doctor Who. It does this a lot, generally speaking, and has done on and off (sometimes very off) for over fifty years. When the show returned in 2005 it brought with it the realisation that there was a huge family audience un-catered for on Saturday nights, and unfortunately Doctor Who was only on air for a quarter of the year, so it couldn’t do it all by itself.
ITV quickly realised it needed to attract that audience too, and while it had gameshows that dominated the schedules it didn’t have anything like Buck Rogers In The 25th Century or The A Team to put up against the BBC this time. And time was of the essence: new shows had...

The world of Doctor Who has changed greatly in the space of just 10 years. The cast and crew have almost completely been replaced since 2005, including a number of new actors to play the errant Time Lord and his companions.
But what has happened to the class of '05? Where are Rose and Mickey now? What is the writer of 'Dalek' up to? And where can you see more work from the director of 'Rose'?
Here it is then, your guide to the main players of Doctor Who series one.
The Cast
After his three-month on-screen stint as the Doctor, Christopher Eccleston's career continued in much the same vein, taking in theatre, interesting television roles and the odd blockbuster.
Post-2005, the Northern actor went Stateside to take on the role of invisible man Claude in the Us series Heroes. From there, he popped up in a very amusing Doctor Who-esque cameo as Dr.

ITV has announced casting for its new Beowulf series.
Da Vinci's Demons actor Kieran Bew will play the title role in a 13-part adaptation of the classic myth.
The Incredible Hulk's William Hurt, Downton Abbey's Ed Speleers and Wolf Hall's Joanne Whalley will also star in the series.
Rounding out the cast are Ian Puleston-Davies (Coronation Street), David Ajala (Black Mirror), Ellora Torchia (Indian Summers) and Alex Price (Penny Dreadful).
Created by Strike Back's James Dormer with Primeval's Tim Haines and Katie Newman, Beowulf is set in the mythical Shieldlands, a place of spectacle and danger populated by both humans and fantastical creatures.
Dormer said: "Hundreds of years ago our ancestors listened to the story of Beowulf because it was a great adventure story - it scared them, thrilled them, made them laugh and cry. But they also listened because they recognised themselves and their fears in it.
