Mary's doll is broken. Mary's mother drives her and Mungo to the toy shop and gives the broken doll to the toy shop owner to repair. Whilst the doll is sitting on the side awaiting repair, Midge - who has been hiding inside it all this time - clambers out of the doll and explores the toy shop..

Mary Mungo and Midge go off to the seaside, where Midge falls asleep on the beach and has a dream about all the things he has seen that day, whilst trying to find Mungo.
