rare flick to find, a bit too deep into the love story
trashgang26 May 2014
I have told earlier in reviews about the Belgian label Emporium Movies who brought out hard to get flicks or flicks that never had an official release on DVD. A strange label that vanished years ago.

Blood Money is one of those rare flicks that came out on the label. So far it still hasn't got an official release, it's available as The Devil Wears White on VHS. Known for having 3 titles makes it all a bit confusing. And the cast is a mystery too. Maybe only Guy Ecker has made it into the scene but worth nothing is Lilia (Jane Higginson) who went further in B-flicks maybe Silent Night Deadly Night 5 (1991) being the best known. I was rather surprised that it in fact was watchable. The acting was rather good even as it has overacting too, and the story was understandable, but it do had a few boring parts, they went too deep into the love story. Steven Hull, the director wrote the script together with Elisabeth Hull and it was also his only flick he directed.

A rather rare flick that doesn't pop up on a regular base. It even contains animal cruelty with a cock fighting being shown and small nudity towards the end.

What "Blood Money" (1986), "The Devil Wears White" (1988) and "Dinero Sangre" (2002) DVD have in common.

To begin with, the three titles belong to the same motion picture, released under three different titles to accommodate demographics and different emerging media markets. At the "Blood Money" World Premiere, November 22, 1986 at the Monica 4-Plex in Santa Monica, California audiences were introduced to a new slate of talented performers, many seeing the light of the silver screen for the first time. GUY ECKER debuted in his first movie as Coleman Archer. ECKER went on to make independent films, co-starred on NBC's hit show "LAS VEGAS",starred in several Telenovelas produced in Colombia, Mexico and Miami, Florida. Most recently he completed the historical war movie "Only the Brave" (2008) about a WWII Nesei (japanese-american) regiment that fought so bravely in the European Theatre.

James A. Morr (Cinematographer) who had worked with John Ford on "The Growler" and shot underwater sequences for 20th Century Fox's "Beneath the 12 Mile Reef" passed away February 21, 2010. He worked with Ecker on "Night Terrors", produced and directed by Mike Weaver (who was 2nd unit DP on "Blood Money").

"Blood Money" was licensed as "The Devil Wears White" (pan & scan) in 1988 by TransWorld Entertainment (TWE) for U.S. Home Video (VHS). The release was never fulfilled due to a protracted litigation between the Ownership of TWE.

On October 29, 2002, Steven A. Hull (Director/Producer) of Magic Hour Entertainment released "Blood Money" on DVD with a new title "Dinero Sangre" (in Spanish/English). During the 1990's "Blood Money" was released to 26 countries in 13 languages.

Veteran actor Anthony Cordova passed away May, 1997 and the current whereabouts of Robert Livesy, Jane Higginson, Hank Perez, Sean Plummer and Barbara Van Diest are unknown as of this review.

A rating of 8 (for the lowest-budget independent movie filmed in 1986 on location {outside U.S.} in Widescreen Panavision [2.35:1] with a Dolby Surround {Ultra*Stereo} sound track and incredible cinematography).

A 25th Anniversary Special Blu-Ray Edition had been planned, but has since been tentatively canceled due to market inactivity and would have included a 25 minute documentary on the making of "Blood Money", additional music cues, Love Theme music video, photo gallery and much more. UPDATE!:August 2012. Newly discovered documentary footage has been resurrected from the vault, and renewed interest for a Special Edition 2 disc set is being reconsidered for 2013, per Magic Hour Entertainment executive Steven A. Hull.
