Sex & Nudity

  • There is a shot of a woman's open legs, the camera than zooms into the center of the legs where pubic hair is visible. The shot itself lasts a minute, and it is surprisingly difficult to notice. It is more an artistic effect rather than anything else, and one can hardly tell the shot is no more than scrubland previously seen.

Violence & Gore

  • There is no gore in the traditional sense in this film. However, there are scenes which would be disturbing to young viewers because they show the deterioration and destruction of human-like (although not human) bodies.
  • There is a scene toward the middle of the film, for example, in which the characters are given faces (made out of clay, constructed over their robotic helmets) which make them look somewhat human. The faces are cartoonish and fake-looking, but it is quite jarring when the sun melts them, and frightening when the characters peel the masks off and discard them. This is mostly due to the scary music and lighting used in the scene.

Profanity

  • Since there is no speech in this movie, there is obviously no profanity.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Electroma has an eerie atmosphere and can be unsettling to some viewers.
  • The movie's conclusion can be very disturbing to many.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Near the end of the movie, while walking in the desert, one of the characters stops walking. The character opens a hatch on his back, which has 2 buttons. The character gestures for the other to push the buttons, which, when pressed, set off a timer. The other robot walks away, and then his body explodes. There is no blood, because they are only robots, but this scene can be very disturbing especially when you realize that it was a suicide.
  • The last quasi-gory scene in the film is at the very end, when the remaining character uses a piece of glass to light its hand on fire using solar energy, eventually spreading the fire to his body, which engulfs the character in flames. You then see the character walking away in slow motion, engulfed in flames. This final walking scene lasts about 2 minutes and can be very disturbing.
