Stargate meets Red Dwarf

McKay and Mrs. Miller is a fun episode. I suspect the idea is to begin Rodney on a journey to becoming a less annoying character. I think that it will probably work. It was also good to see Samatha Carter back in the show as herself (and not just as a figment of Rodney's imagination).

Those of you that are familiar with Red Dwarf will recognise the origins of the story instantly, but that's a plus. Smoke me a kipper!

Outstanding Episode

This (and the previous) episode is excellent. It has a lot of humor, humanity and overall genuine originality. Do not miss it.

best sci-fi episode ever

This is one of those "ultimate classic" sci-fi episodes of all times, the likes of which one is lucky to see once a decade. Brilliant story, absolutely hilarious, heartwarming, totally entertaining, and even a little highly speculative science around the edges.

Stargate Atlantis is one of the best 3 or 4 sci-fi series ever, and this is the best episode.

This is very much a standalone episode that doesn't really require you know much about Stargate Atlantis, though you should have seen at least a few other episodes so you know the characters (especially Rodney McKay).

Enjoy.

A quintessential Mary Sue story

Warning: Spoilers
My least favorite SG:A episode thus far.

A new character arrives on scene, having developed a complex theoretical physics proof inspired merely by obersving a child play with a train set. She gets whisked away to the most top secret locations in the known galaxy, proving all the while that she's smarter than established characters with vastly more experience. As expected, she's lauded & liked by everyone she meets even while undermining & betraying the trust of established characters. The episode attempts a half hearted reversal of the undermining that was done throughout the episode, but it is forced and inauthentic.

I understand what they were trying to do with Rodney here, but it was lousy and didn't show the character progression in a satisfying way.

Worst episode in most sci-fi

"My brother is a genius scientist, so, of course I an just stroke out into writing a mathematical proof because of?...... genetics?"

Absolute effing garbage. This is why other people consider sci-fi a joke, plots like this.

OMG, this episode is so stupid.
