Amazing episode

Hello bonesbooth podcast you guys are awesome.

So this episode is amazing. I feel like this is the most serious episode of the whole season. Dealing with the fbi director daughter dying in the episode pulls at the heart string. I like that their wasn't really any jokes in this episode. Seeing how serious booth takes this case is refreshing. He probably thinking about if this was his son parker I the situation he would be devasted and goes to the end of the earth to get who ever did this

Three glasses of milk a day Warning: Spoilers
The crime in this episode is one of the most compelling in season one for me. A sad reality of life is that sometimes one is simply too late to fix things. It's not a funny episode but it is simultaneously heartwrenching and heartwarming.

I think Amy was well-written. She's young and scared and in her situation knowing that others are getting help because of you doesn't necessarily make you feel better. Just a tip: "Stay positive" is probably the most useless thing to tell a 15 year old with lung cancer who is dying...

Other things to note: Angela ran Amy's art through the 'digitizer' and everyone acts likes it's impressive but didn't she just... scan it? Was that not a thing in 2006? I hope SIBS is actually a thing, because that's hella cool. Bones just casually asked a lady for a 'sample' of her husband's ashes. Bones also cut into the carpet EXACTLY where the drain they were looking for was (in creepy Harry the Mortician's voice: she IS good).

A line I loved: But here's the kickster

Hi the Bones Booth :)

Help the girl
mitchrmp12 July 2016
This is one of those episodes that tugs at your heartstrings. While showing Booth's boss some facial reconstructions, Brennan questions him about his daughter's cancer (after several stern warnings from Booth NOT to). When she begins investigating, she discovers that the bone graft the girl had gotten was from an old man with cancer.

Booth and Bones and the rest of the gang put all their effort in trying to solve the case of where the illegal transplantation took place. B & B work well together on this case, and all get emotional. Angela is frustrated that she can't do anything to help the girl, with whom she's become attached.

One thing I really like about this show is how everyone just comes to care for each other. Even Booth has seemed to accept Brennan's co-workers and accept them as part of her life. They all have big hearts and want to do what's best to make the world a better place.

Based on a real event

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is similar to a real case.

Alistair Cooke was a British resident in the US since WWII. He has made a career by being someone who explains the US to fellow Brits. He also was the MC for several PBS shows, which is where most people remember him.

He died of cancer in March 2004. He was cremated, but, unknown to his family, the undertaker and a doctor removed several bones before cremation. Those bones, and fake documentation, made it into several transplant patients, who subsequently died. There was a criminal case and the two were convicted.

Just Google "Alistair Cooke" for corroboration.

Hey Bones Booth!

This ep was emotional and difficult to watch but was very good. The different take on a "serial killer" case was interesting. Poor deputy director Cullen, Amy and her mom i can't even imagine. Love the whole storyline with Amy, Angela and art. Booth clearing his throat to get Bones to be quiet was funny but come on you know she was never going to let it go. The "I find intelligence soothing" line by Bones was great. The montage of kids getting their biopsies ugh :( The Lourve scene at the end was very cool.

Dump the Serial Killer Thing
Hitchcoc16 January 2023
The case is itself intriguing. A sweet teenager has a rare form of cancer and has a death sentence. If this were a conventional medical drama, there would be a miraculous recovery. Here, that is never the case. Other than encouraging her to enjoy the time she has, she is not going to make it. The deduction is excellent and the characters are driven by love. Brennan is her usual autistic self and Booth gets in the way at first; however, they follow through with their investigation. There is one thing I take issue with. To call a poor man with horrific cancer a "serial killer" is just wrong. The serial killer is the one who went after untested grafts and sold them in an illegal way to unsuspecting medical facilities.

Ranks in my top five favorite episodes in the entire series!!!

Warning: Spoilers
We rarely have a "live" victim. This one really tugs at the heart strings and pulls you in, making you feel as though the victim is family. It's hard to not get emotionally attached to her after hearing her story.

Bones and the team assist with the daughter of the FBI Deputy Director when they learn she has lung cancer. Having cancer is never easy for anyone involved. The way the tie in her cancer to an investigation about how it was acquired was well written.

I was even more amazed by the 2006 episode, after learning it was based on real events from the year before. As not to add spoilers, look up the case of Alistair Cooke or even the crimes of Michael Mastromarino.

BTW, my other favorite episodes in my list... "The Signs in the Silence" (alive 15yo deaf girl) "The Woman in the Garden" (Bones punches gang leader) "The Prisoner in the Pipe" (Bones gives birth) "The Man in the Morgue" (Bones helps with Hurricane Katrina)

Memorable, heartbreaking

Warning: Spoilers
This is one episode that, for whatever reason, always sticks in my memory. A great episode for some emotional turmoil in our protagonists- especially Bones, Booth and Angela. It's clear the show hasn't quite found it's rhythm- we bounce from place to place and Booth is practically camped out at the lab. Still, you can help but feel for Amy. We get protective Booth, empathetic Bones, compassionate Angela. And of course, a lot of sly comments murmured between B & B.

Good episode, but..it leaves me morally conflicted.

Warning: Spoilers
The main thing I hate about this episode is how they treated Mrs Hastings. She had no knowledge of her husband being scrapped for parts, to spite his having cancer, but they treat her like a criminal. Hodgins even refers to the old Mr Hastings as an old bastard. So what if Mrs Hastings said Mr Hastings deserved whatwver he got. Their assumption that a dead man who died a horrible death from cancer should be likened to a serial killer was way off.
