The first half of “Chucky” Season 3 ended with the massive bombshell that the serial killer’s Good Guy doll body is rapidly aging, putting him on the fast track toward death. Chucky wasn’t the only killer receiving bad news. Tiffany Valentine, inhabiting the body of Jennifer Tilly, also finds herself on Death Row with time running out.
USA and Syfy’s hit horror series “Chucky” is coming back to the small screen for “Season 3: Part 2” on April 10.
Ahead of the second half’s debut next week, Bloody Disgusting spoke with Jennifer Tilly about Tiffany’s impeccable sense of style, no matter the circumstances, and what kind of madness is in store as season three winds down. For starters, while Season 3: Part 2 might put Tiffany behind bars, don’t expect a drab prison uniform for the murderess.

Susan Sarandaon won her first and only Oscar playing Prejean in “Dead Man Walking,” which was written and directed by Tim Robbins and co-starred Sean Penn as a convicted murderer.
“Rebel Nun” will explore Sister Helen’s life to date and her ongoing fight against the death penalty.

Dr. Dre made his first late-night television appearance in three decades last night, stopping by Jimmy Kimmel Live after earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The rapper spoke to host Jimmy Kimmel in a lengthy interview about his career, with Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent later joining the conversation.
During the interview, Dr. Dre shared his enthusiasm for getting the star, his unlikely fans (which have apparently included a group of nuns), and the collaborative process of making music. “Do artists from other genres often approach you...

Shaquille O’Neal retired from the NBA 13 years ago, but he’s never lost his competitive spirit.
When he’s asked about becoming the second player in NBA history to have three retired jerseys, he asks, “Who’s first?” When he speaks about coming back to the hip-hop music scene, he commands: “I have to make sure they say, ‘Shaq is the best rapper/athlete ever.’”
His competitive nature is also the reason why he’s returning with his wild and epic pre-Super Bowl party Shaq’s Fun House, which is in its sixth year and will take place at Las Vegas’ Xs Nightclub at Wynn on Feb. 9, two days before the Big Game. “I’m a jealous competitor. The reason why we’re doing Shaq’s Fun House? I want people to say that’s the best party ever,” he explains to THR.

What made the original television run of "The Twilight Zone" (from 1959-1964) so special was the way individual episodes could function on multiple levels. Since the show was an anthology, and every episode had its own premise, it was free to explore whatever it wanted to. The first level of a given episode was the superficially exciting one that put you in the shoes of a protagonist faced with an unnerving science-fiction premise. But the other level went deeper, studying human nature at extremes. Host and show creator Rod Serling would show up to deliver the moral, but the twists, unhappy endings, and central ironies continue to be surprising and disturbing.
The series typically explored prejudice in the form of racism or anti-intellectualism, or in one of its most famous episodes, the idea of beauty standards. But it also explored nostalgia, whether for a bygone way of life or for the one that got away.

Who’s ready to go back behind bars? In a surprise announcement, Deadline reports that Mayans M.C. co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner Elgin James is developing a new Prison Break project for Hulu. Written and executive-produced by James through his Sierra Drive studio, the revised version marks a new chapter of the incarceration thriller.
Elgin is keeping details about the new Prison Break project in solitary. However, Deadline says, “it is not expected to involve the characters who were at the center of the original series and its followups on Fox.” The original Prison Break debuted in 2005, following Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) as two brothers hatching a plan to escape Fox River State Penitentiary. With Lincoln heading for Death Row, it’s only a matter of time before push comes to shove, and the brothers must enact their plan or face the consequences of their actions.

Welcome to the premiere episode of Doc Talk, our new podcast hosted by Oscar-winning writer-director John Ridley and Deadline’s documentary editor Matt Carey. We’re kicking off with a deep dive into a signature power of documentary: The capacity to right a grave wrong in the criminal justice system by freeing a wrongfully convicted prisoner. Only a handful of major nonfiction filmmakers has achieved this extraordinary feat, springing men and women who faced Death Row or life sentences.
We talk with Errol Morris (The Thin Blue Line), Joe Berlinger (the Paradise Lost trilogy), Amy Berg (The Case Against Adnan Syed and West of Memphis), and Deborah Esquenazi (Southwest of Salem: The Story of the San Antonio Four).
Morris shares his theory of why Randall Dale Adams — the man who almost certainly would have been put to death by the state of Texas if not for The Thin Blue Line — turned around and sued him.

Editors’ Note: This guest column by former Luke Cage showrunner and Creed II writer Cheo Hodari Coker is part of Deadline’s series commemorating the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop on August 11.
In 1999, Yasin Bey — then known as Mos Def – dropped the seminal album “Black On Both Sides.”
The first song, “Fear Not Of Man” still gets me every time I play it. It’s a classic – — just as powerful now as the first time I heard it two decades ago. A meditation on everything Hip-Hop is…and isn’t.
You know what’s going to happen with hip-hop? Whatever’s happening with us. If we smoked out, hip-hop is going to be smoked out. If we doin’ alright, hip-hop is gonna be doin’ all right.
We are hip-hop. Me. You. Everybody.

It was musical Monday for WGA picketers on day 56 of the Writers Guild strike, with Death Row Records representing in front of Sunset Bronson Studios, site of one of Netflix’s many Los Angeles-based offices.
Death Row boss and WGA supporter Snoop Dogg was unable to attend today due to prior commitments in the recording studio but he sent along Death Row Gm John Payne and label executive K Dubb who spoke to Deadline about why they were in attendance.
“The reason why I’m here is personal and business,” said Payne. “This means a lot to me and we’re all in the same gang when it comes to this. Without these people and their pens, there would be no TV shows and there would be no place for us to put our music. Movie soundtracks can elevate ordinary stories, adding depth and resonance to beloved films. The lasting impact of these soundtracks is evident in the instantly recognizable songs that continue to endure. Sometimes, the music becomes a movie’s highlight, compensating for weaker storylines or characters.
Classic movie musicals like West Side Story have stood the test of time, while films like The Bodyguard provided a platform for legendary artists to showcase their talents. The longevity of these soundtracks is often measured by their chart performance, reflecting their profound influence on generations.
The intertwining of music and cinema is a magical combination. The closing notes of The Breakfast Club, the era-defining mix of Dazed and Confused, and the genius of Prince in Purple Rain are just a few examples of the powerful synergy between sound and vision.

They also claimed that Oklahoma will “suffer harm from its Department of Corrections executing a person whom the State has concluded should never have been convicted of murder, let alone sentenced to die, in the first place.” Glossip’s case recently got a boost following...

American-European media fund Apx Group and André Singer’s Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning documentary and non-scripted company Spring Films have launched a joint production initiative.
Under the accord, Apx and Spring will form a joint venture entity in London, owned equally by both, in which Apx and Spring will invest in new productions over the next five years.
The joint venture will look to develop and produce new and breakthrough content.
The parties said they also saw the agreement as an opportunity to curate a library of “unique content” with global distribution potential.
Spring Films is behind a string of award-winning, non-fiction works including Singer’s 2014 production Night Will Fall, about a lost documentary shot by Alfred Hitchcock and Sidney Bernstein about German concentration camps, which won Peabody, Emmy and Rts awards.
Further highlights of its past slate include the Oscar-nominated and Bafta-winning The Act of Killing (2012) as well as The Inferno...

Hong Kong has been haunted on the screen for a very long time, but starting with Sammo Hung “Encounters of a Spooky Kind” (1980) the city also found plenty of humor in it. The Hk ghost genre has developed its completely unique style: smart, quirky, bonkers and scary at the same time. Supernatural served this way is not exactly what horror genre is supposed to be about – chilling, mocking the improbable elements of scare, the things your logic tells you are ridiculous, but your instincts don’t. Ultimately, this works pretty well when it involves a harmonious balance between humor, dread, and melodrama.

Frank Darabont created a heckuva conundrum for himself when his feature directing debut, "The Shawshank Redemption," wound up becoming one of the most beloved movies of all time. For starters, he joined an elite fraternity of filmmakers who'd hit the bullseye with a difficult-to-adapt Stephen King story. More troublesome, King had just launched into another prison yarn, one that begged to become a motion picture. One that fit Darabont like a bespoke suit.
"The Green Mile" was a publishing event in 1996. Between March and August, King released a new, slender volume imparting the tragedy of John Coffey, a gentle giant wrongfully consigned to Death Row for the rape and murder of two girls. Unlike "The Shawshank Redemption," this serialized story contained the kind of mystical elements one expects from a King novel. Coffey is not only the opposite of a killer, he is a saint possessed of healing powers. King...

Chucalissa, and The Pynk in particular, are places in transition.
That fact was made abundantly clear on P-Valley Season 2 Episode 8.
The Promised Land casino, Chucalissa, and The Pynk are so intertwined that the outcome of the first will help determine the fate of the last two locations.
So it was little wonder that the mudslinging began in the Chucalissa mayoral race, with Andre the primary victim of it.
Andre brought most of this exposure on himself. In addition to screwing around with ex-stripper-turned-strip-club owner Autumn, he lied about his father being dead instead of being on Death Row for murder.
Andre missed an opportunity there. Indeed, having overcome such a father through his relationship with a new father figure, the late Mayor Ruffin, made for a much better success story.
But Andre also was caught up in the feud between Corbin, his primary financial backer, and the interim mayor, Wayne Kyle.

Texas woman Darlie Routier has sat on death row for two decades now, ever since her 1997 conviction for the murder of one of her two slain children. Some think the case is open-and-shut, but others believe Routier has been framed for the grisly deaths of sons Devon, 6, and Damon, 5. Now, a new TV show called The Last Defense, executive produced by Viola Davis, will reinvestigate the events of June 6, 1996, in Rowlett, TX. At 2 a.m. local time that night, Routier called 911, yelling, "They just stabbed me and my children." When first responders showed up to her house, they found the then-26-year-old wife and mother holding a towel to a stab wound on her neck. They also found Devon dead and Damon dying, both boys having sustained deep stab wounds to the chest. Routier told the cops she had woken up to find a man on top of her, but soon they grew suspicious.

Each year the film industry sacrifices one of its blockbusters to the movie gods, in the hope that its other releases will be spared the vicious lash of mass opprobrium. This year the designated victim was Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Critics spotted Luc Besson’s space opera on the horizon, sensed weakness, singled it out from the big budget herd, and moved in for the kill, savaging it as, “a stinker”, “a travesty of storytelling” and, “one of the worst films I have ever seen”. Social media gleefully swooped on the carcass to declare it the year’s biggest Doa turkey. And all this before the public had even had a chance to see it.
Rotten Tomatoes gave Valerian a 49% rating, but looking at the site’s reviews round-up (something I do only when writing a piece like this), I’m struck now by how many...

Errol Morris has been ahead of the curve ever since he broke out with pet cemetery documentary “Gates of Heaven” in 1978. A decade later, “The Thin Blue Line” wowed critics but alienated the hidebound documentary community with its use of “reenactments” and a rousing Philip Glass score. Decades before Netflix created “Making a Murderer,” “The Keepers,” and “Witness,” Morris’ film actually solved a murder mystery and freed an innocent Death Row convict in a Texas prison.
Since then, Glass became a go-to movie composer, earning three Oscar nominations — and could score a fourth for this year’s Oscar documentary frontrunner “Jane.” Reenactments have become standard issue for nonfiction films, filling the void between talking heads, archival footage, cinéma vérité observation, and what isn’t visually available. And Morris isn’t the only filmmaker who is a presence in his films, yelling at his subjects from behind his invention, the Interrotron.

Director Curtis Harrington always offered up solid, unassuming genre fare on the small screen (How Awful about Allan, the wonderfully goofy Devil Dog: The Hound of Hell); and when he collaborated with noted scribe Robert Bloch (Psycho), the result was NBC’s The Dead Don’t Die (1975), an effective throwback to the Lewton/Turneur era beloved by both, shot through with a big dose of pulpy goodness.
Originally broadcast on January 14th as an NBC World Premiere Movie, Tddd didn’t stand a chance against the likes of the ABC Tuesday Movie of the Week or the ironclad CBS lineup of M*A*S*H/Hawaii Five-o, and Bloch is on the record as not being a fan. Oh well; I still dig its entertaining mashup of neo noir and old fashioned zombies even if he doesn’t. And you might too if that particular elixir peaks your interest.

Skinheads, hit men, cops, criminals, cops-posing-as-criminals, princes, junkies, executioners, politicians, supervillains, an 18th-century fop, a 19th-century impressionist painter and a 21st-century psychotic chimp – you name it, and there's an extremely good chance that Tim Roth has played it. The 56-year-old British actor has the sort of varied, overstuffed resumé that suggests a reserved spot in the steadily-working-character-actor canon, and has not one but two projects hitting TV screens at the moment: Tin Star, an Amazon thriller that about an expat cop living in Canada that starts as a quirky fish-out-of-water...

Tupac Shakur was one of hip-hop’s brightest stars, enriching the genre with a blend of poetic wit and gritty realism. When he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting while riding down a Las Vegas street on Sept. 7 1996, it sent shockwaves through the music world that reverberate to this day. The murder remains unsolved more than 20 years later, but a new biopic, All Eyez on Me, has reignited the debate.

Fritz Lang continues his take-no-prisoners indictment of America’s curious relationship with crime; this time he presents the thesis that an innocent man can be a pawn in cosmic game of injustice. Three-time loser Henry Fonda, the glummest actor in ’30s films, doesn’t mean to rob or kill, but gosh darn it, They Made Him a Criminal. Those considerations aside, it’s a wonderful cinematic achievement, made all the better by a decent digital restoration.

Airline safety videos just got far more interesting.
British Airways teamed up with Comic Relief to create its latest inflight safety video, in which celebrities pretend to audition for a role in the project while actually demonstrating the real safety procedures.
British comedy actor Asim Chaudhry — who goes by Chabuddy G in the video — conducts the auditions, and begins by ribbing 12 Years a Slave star and Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor for his inexperience with safety video-making.
After admitting he had never made an instructional video before, Chaudhry quips, “Well this could be your big break, okay mate? So don’t mess it up.

Perhaps it seems like a contradiction that those who cook and serve meals at the most exclusive restaurants in the world are also some of the loudest voices for causes related to food insecurity—that is, lack of reliable access to nutritional food.

HBO's new documentary The Defiant Ones traces the rise of two men who have helped create the modern musical landscape: engineer/producer/record executive/Apple Music impresario Jimmy Iovine and engineer/producer/rapper/headphone mogul Dr. Dre.
The four-part series plays as a bromance of sorts, with Iovine as the neurotic, pedal-to-the-metal New Yorker and Dre as the inscrutable sonic mastermind. The former talks fast and animatedly, constantly checks his phone and never seems to stop fidgeting, even when seated; the latter takes long, thoughtful pauses before speaking, and reminds...

As Twitter exploded over the news about Donald Trump Jr.’s emails on Tuesday morning, another controversy has been making the viral rounds: a strange tale about a sandwich.
In a New York Times op-ed titled “How We Are Ruining America”, columnist David Brooks wrote about income inequality in the U.S. and the inherent advantage that upper-middle-class citizens have in our society. While he began the piece with some concrete statistics about class structure, his point got derailed when he told the story of a meal he had with a friend with a lower level of education than himself.

Demetrius Shipp Jr. looks a lot like Tupac Shakur. While in some circles that could be enough to recommend the first-time actor for the part of the beloved late rapper, it’s a casting choice indicative of much bigger issues in Benny Boom’s long-gestating biopic, “All Eyez on Me.” The casting choice suggests that a commitment to accuracy, but that doesn’t make up for many other shortcomings in a movie that does no favors to Tupac’s legacy.
Opening with a political urgency that belies a very different project, Boom’s film (penned by Jeremy Haft, Eddie Gonzalez, and Steven Bagatourian) initially reads as a timely rallying cry around Shakur’s legacy, before devolving into a paint-by-the-numbers biopic that unspools with as much energy as a Wikipedia entry. Framed in the most uninspiring way possible — with Hill Harper playing a journalist who visits Tupac in prison to reflect...
